Good lord, WHY are you people STILL trying to justify this. The Juggernauts can be a sanctioned club all they want for as long as they want. That’s not the problem. This is clearly an offseason team. That’s fine. In the history of the youth state duals, to my knowledge, it has always been and was designed to be for IN SEASON teams which means that the 3 combined teams for the Juggernauts should have entered on their own and not combined together. The lack of wording on the flyer describing this was used to your advantage. There WILL be a vote at spring meeting and it WILL be changed so that this doesn’t happen again. And, please give us a break with the whole “we’re just trying to grow the sport” crap. How are you growing the sport when you tell little Timmy that’s wrestled 75lbs all season long for Martin Co that he doesn’t get to participate at the youth state duals because you’re taking a combined team of 3 schools and we really want little Johnny from Pike co not you. That’s not growing the sport!!!

Good Lord. Why are people still crying over this? The Juggernauts obviously weren’t concerned about your opinion or they would’ve asked for it. The rules were followed. The state duals were decided on the mats. If there is a vote in the spring, so be it! But don’t cry somebody cheated when they obviously didn’t. They may not have met YOUR rules but it doesn’t seem ANYBODY is concerned with your rules. The Warhawks and the Cardinals have bigger rosters than they’ve ever had so somebody is growing the sport. Maybe you don’t know as much as you think you do. This is really getting old. It’s over with. Pull up your big girl panties and get over it!

It's one thing to win and be classy. Its another thing to try and justify the loophole in the system. Talk trash about some of the best programs in the State of Kentucky. In middle school will see who has the last laugh. If I was with Juggernauts I would be more concerned with becoming a sanctioned team. Than bathing in a loophole victory. I'm not bashing the kids. They showed up, with good intentions. This is to the parents keeping this going. Get your team sanctioned as a team. I find it distasteful. You won thru a loophole. From what I heard the team was great. Just do it the right way.

We would love to have came to state duals and competed and nothing been said. However, certain teams decided they would not allow that. I felt like we have stayed classy but we grow tired of accusations  that there was some big loophole that we exploited. None of the coaches had ever went to state duals. What we did is seen what was required and met those requirements. There was no big secret meeting of the minds to circumvent holes in the rules, that’s nonsense.

Juggernauts bashing teams on facebook lol. Look at all the teams with low numbers who still showed up to compete!

Parents already making enemies with the wrestling community at the elementary level. This could end up being a great rivalry for years to come. Or this could get ugly all thru middle school.Posting pictures rubbing in the win? I know one thing, there a several great Ky programs, who are looking foward to the Juggernauts return. Walton, Ryle, Carr academy, McCracken, Union, Scott, Anderson, Madison Central, River City, Cambell, Johnson central, Woodford, and several others will keep producing studs. Now the Juggernauts will be the team to beat in middle school IF THEY CAN BECOME A CLUB TEAM. If not it will just be that year everyone remembers the trash talk that never got sanctioned as a team. But we can always look back at the pictures posted of this " Team " Either way good luck to everyone involved. Remember its about the kids. When you trash talk for them, they have to back it up, not the parents!

This pic is from 2018. Not sure how this pic is the Juggernauts rubbing things in. This pic is proof these teams and coaches have a close relationship.

No. Not at all. If each region of the state created an all star team the playing field would be even. Had teams known this was allowed everyone would’ve had s full team and pulled kids from here, there, and everywhere.

So... if everyone would have known this was allowed everyone would’ve had a full team and pulled kids...?

Sounds like you should maybe find better coaching. AND you admit that it IS allowed. This case seems closed and I’m bored.

  5. Looks like from the graphic you just posted Martin Co and the Warhawks seem to be getting things done as well. Does anybody know who won State at Division 2 last year? And... who was runner up?

Fact is nobody cheated. Some people got their lil feelings hurt and that’s it. The Juggernauts did everything they were supposed to do and played by the rules and won. So... if you don’t like it change the rules. But you can’t cry that somebody cheated if no rules were broken.

  6. I wrestled in the 90' s and there was no need to seed the state tournament. The wrestlers decided their draw by how they placed at Region. I prefer to go back to the three weekends of wrestling and lettin the wrestlers decide where try are seeded for the state tournament based on how they wrestled at regions. Top 4 from district continued to region (districts), top 4 from region(4 regions), seeded in state tourney based on regional placement (regional winners were 1 seeds and you split up regionals and everyone else fell in line). There were fewer wrestlers in the state then than there are now, not sure why this format was changed but I think was a mistake. Bye, it used to be an accomplishment to wrestle at state but now, as has been said, almost everyone gets to wrestle at state.

  7. Disagree, I believe medals, especially at state, do help growth. We (Martin County) have started to have some success at the state tournament. We won divison 3 last year and we seen a big influx in our numbers, especially for a county this size. Now we did not just set back and it happened. We publicized our success, we printed T shirts, we held camps but nothing can recruit like success. When little Jimmy sees little Johnny doing good little Jimmy might decide to give it a shot. Imagine your 8 years old and your buddy is in the newspaper for winning the state wrestling championship. He's got a big trophy, his coaches have their arm around him, he's got a big smile on his face. THAT makes kids want to try things. So yeah, I believe medals do help with your growth.

This all started with the pounders ppw metric. I will give you the Division 2 Championship Trophy.

You can pick it up in Grant County. We practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 6-8. See you soon !!

You guys did a great job!!

  8. You wrestled before??

This is certainly where we're headed, but the # 's have to make sense. We need some of the regions to find ways to grow if we use regional qualifiers.

I like the Tournament of Champions quailifier format. Have a few tournaments scattered around the state. They need them to be sanctioned and ran the same way. If the kids place top 4 in one of those tournaments, you're eligible to participate in the state. It would also encourage more "in-state" wrestling.

I think we continue to focus on getting more kids involved in the sport. Not only on a state level but a local level. IMO, qualifiers for a youth state tournament is a turn in the wrong direction. I think the state tournament is a great experience for a young wrestler. And a experience they should all have.

  9. Yes but high school freshman are not eligible to wrestle in middle school competitions even if they are of age!!!!! Why? Because they are not in middle school. 7th & 8th graders are not in elementary school and therefore should not be allowed to wrestle in youth tournaments.

This is youth wrestling not elementary wrestling. A 12 year old 7th grader has NO advantage over a 12 year old 6th grader. So, until it is changed to elementary wrestling instead of youth wrestling you have no point.

  10. We fell short of hardware but we had a lot of 1st year kids and moved up in divisions. We had 14 kids wrestle at state last year and 22 this year, not counting the 3 who had to scratch. Which means we are certainly growing and still being pretty competitive. I hope through our efforts we can get Martin County (Sheldon Clark) back to where they once were... and beyond!!

  11. I enjoyed the tournament. I still like 8 man brackets for the sake of growing the sport. I say more medals, more trophies equals more kids. But I think I have a compromise. And just something to consider. Would it be feasible to have 8 man brackets for kids 8 and under and 16 man brackets for 9 and up?? That would give the younger kids plenty of reward and introduce the older kids to a much more competitive tourney. Just food for thought.

  12. That was clearly meant to be a joke....

As I mentioned, it would be a shame for anyone to miss the State Tournament for any reason. It is a great event.

If Balboa can make it up Everest in a two-minute, training montage, I'd like to think our friends from Eastern KY can make it to Lexington in 4 days. Throwing in the towel on Wednesday seems premature, don't you think?

Trust me, my kids won't be throwing in any towels!!

Btw, this ice storm they are predicting for Friday night and into Saturday does have me a little concerned.

  13. Run your kids through those snowy mountains like Rocky in Rocky IV. If you leave now, you should make it by Sunday.

Real classy. This isn't a matter of shoveling a driveway. I will be there and I understand it would be hard to reschedule this event. Just hate hat kids who have worked so hard won't be able to make it. I'll be there so it doesn't effect me at all, just hate it for some of our kids.

  14. Well, the landscape here in Eastern Kentucky is much different from that in Central/Northern Kentucky. We have kids who have worked hard all year who cannot get out of their driveways. To say travel for them would be unsafe would be an understatement, not only would travel be unsafe, but in many cases, impossible. We have only been able to practice one day this week. Even our schools are in hills here in Eastern Kentucky. We will have wrestlers make the trip but we will have many miss out.
