teams wrestling out of state comp.
Shady-Shady-Shady replied to depperschmidt's topic in 2015 Season
Meade did not fair to well this weekend at the WSAZ tournament in WV. They finished 23rd in Team points out of 36 Teams and only placed 1 wrestler at 8th in 152lbs. The Team took some tough losses and may have even lost some talented wrestlers for the Year due to injuries occurred over the Tournament. Pending follow up medical review. I would have to say from my perspective the Team looked a little worn down and in need of rest. They have been on a very active schedule this year. Most if not all starters have 35 or more matches completed to this point. Yet still no break in sight due to State Duals next week at Union Co. Results can be seen at this link: http://wvmat.com/scores/15scores/0124wsah.pdf -

I see where you are coming from. What took me by surprise is how they seeded whoever they seeded. You have a wrestler who only wrestled 5 matches all year and won 4 and lost one, who really probably is not that good over a wrestler who wrestled 20 matches and who won 14 but lost 6, his percentage rate will be lower. The seeding i guess really does not matter. You will have to wrestle to first place either way it goes. If you did not get seeded you just might not get a BI and have to wrestle a few more rounds than those who did get seeded. By the end of the day the tournament will determine the best among the best. -

Not sure where you got your informaton at but you might want to revalidate it. Go back and re-look at the Seeding form listed at http://wvmat.com/temp/15wsazhsseeds2.pdf . The top three are determined if they placed last year and it looks as if everyone else below is seeded by their Win / Loss percentage rate. Well that is the way i read it anyways. But heck i could be wrong. -

Meade Co seeding follows for the WSAZ WV Tournament 23-24 Jan 15: Jared Ray @ 106lbs 20th out of 29. Nathan Nash @ 113lbs 13th out of 30. Hunter Knoth @ 120lbs 23rd out of 34. Alex Lee @ 126lbs 9th out of 38. David M. @ 132lbs 19th out of 38. Collin M. @ 132lbs 28th out of 38. Roger Young @ 138lbs 28th out of 44. Dakota Hoskins @ 145lbs 24th out of 43. Cory Knoth @ 152lbs 6th out of 42. Johnny Lee @ 160th 20th out of 37. Jordan C. @ 170lbs 12th out of 36. Dalton J. @ 182lbs 12th out of 28. Brandon St John @ 195lbs 12th out of 26. Trevon M. @ 220lbs 11th out of 29. Robert Cooper @ HW 30th out of 41. It looks like Roger, Cory and Dakota all have the monster weights this year with over 40 Wrestlers in each weight class. -

Meade County will also be attending the 2015 WSAZ Invitational this weekend. They placed 11th out 29 as a Team overall last year with 2 Champions and 2 in 8th place. -
Fern Creek Steam Rolls Meade Co for first place . 61 to 9.

I have noticed that match results record keeping is very poor this year for KY. Not sure if it is due to the new Track Wrestling system or if Coaches and Managers are just not reporting them. Does anyone know if KHSAA has a requirement for proper reporting of a Wrestlers match by win and losses in the new system? NWCA Scoreboard seemed to be highly accurate and up-to-date the last few years and not sure why it was switched over to Track Wrestling. Any thoughts on the lack of reporting or tracking wins and losses in Track Wrestling?

Just wondering if anyone else has been noticing and Teams starting to come out of the darkness and taking control of Duals and Invitational’s. Three Teams which have caught my eye are Meade Co. , Scott Co., and Wayne Co. Meade seems to be coming together as I have notice most if not all their wrestlers have dropped in weight and as a result their winning percentage has gone up drastically. They almost have a complete roster and I have been told a of few wrestlers have been battling the flu and recovering from medical issues obtained prior to the season starting. If that is true and the way they are winning now I really am curious to see how they will perform at their healthiest condition. They have either placed 1st or 2nd in most competitions’ they were in. They have beat some power houses already and have lost to some. I really think this is a team to watch. They were not even ranked at the beginning of the Season. Scott Co is just tough in my eyes. They have a lot of underrated Wrestlers and think once they figure out all the weight class. They may be the Team this year that surprises everyone. Wayne is a mixture of the same with Meade and Scott. Wayne has a great line up in the middle classes and I think once they figure out most of their heavier weights they will also be a Team this year that makes a statement.

Correct Scott High. Sorry for the confusion. -
Ok I have a question. If a wrestler tares his Meniscus and has surgery and Doctor estimates 8 weeks of recovery . Should you allow a Wrestler to come back if the Dr clears them or should they just take the rest of the season off and focus on next year? I often see so many Wrestlers rush back into the sport just to reinjure themselves. As a discussion point would it be the parent’s responsibility or the Coaches on whether a Wrestler should return the same season he was injured. Any view points on this issue.

Will there be any specialized freestyle/Greco clinics prior to Central Regional’s in May. One major issue I saw from attending last year is many wrestlers from Kentucky lack the knowledge of this sport to include my own son. This may be why participation is limited by the wrestlers in this State. I would love to see more focus and promoting of this style. Maybe a KY USA sponsored CAMP free of charge. Just a thought.

For those who follow Meade Co. To my knowledge Chris Beeler has moved to wrestling IN and may end up in TX, Wade Beeler has moved to TX, and Devonte Duncan graduated and will attend West Point Military Academy. This will most likely will be a transitional year for the Meade Co Wrestling Team and first Year in newly built Wrestling room/facility. Many new Wrestlers and Coaches from what I hear. -

State Predictions or Rankings

126 Final will be Beeler and Blackwell. Austin will beat Carr and then Beeler will overcome his first and only loss of the year from their first meet and beat Austin and meet Blackwell in finals. This is another lopsided bracket. Seems all but one powerhouse (Blackwell) in top portion. -
What happens if more bad weather comes Friday/Saturday
Shady-Shady-Shady posted a topic in 2014 Season
Noticed that there is a possibility of more snow and ice coming to region two Friday evening and Saturday morning. Is there any contingency plans incase Schools pull transportation busses and institute event cancellations? Region 2 schools have a history to panic if it sees a little snow on the ground/roads. Parents/fans are often given last minute notices on the these plans. Will the athlete still be able to attend if Parents provide transportation and will coaches be required in the corners on the mats in which the School has forbid Coaches to attend? Just wanted to start spreading the word now. I would hate for the Wrestlers to lose out due to the lack of information being put out. Also I know it does not apply to all but some parents will have other plans instead of attending their wrestlers tournament due to it being Valentine’s day ( Sad, Very Sad). Prior notice may allow those wrestlers to convince their parents for a ride if needed. Just a thought. -

Schools already closing in region 2. What is the plan for tonight.... -
Response to KY_WAR_VET Tired of cutting weight from what I heard and he really was not getting challenged at 120 in the meets he was going too. He felt better going up a class and wanted to test his skills in a heavier weight class. He also could put on more muscle and do more strength conditioning. I also saw the match with Austin and don’t remember it going that way. It was tied all the way up to the last 8 seconds then Austin did a slipby after Beeler shot at him. It was a good match. I thought they handled each other pretty well. It was also the first match Beeler had at 126. He had a match 1 days prior to that one and i do think he was still recovering from cutting weight to meet the 120 class for that match. No excuses, they are all good at what they do. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out..

I would have to agree with the whole Tougher schedule point. I think Meade's could have been a whole lot better. It just seems it is the same every year after year. I got a feeling switching to a new region this year may open some eyes. At least I hope anyways. Friday and Saturday will tell. I agree you have to wrestle with the best to compete along the best!!!

Got it. First we have heard about this. I will start pushing it out in our area. Thank you for the update. -
I see the same names popping up in the 126 weight class (blackwell,Carr,Austin, emerson) but seems like no one is factoring in Chris Beeler (MC). He moved to 126 in January and is #1 seed at 126 for region 2. Really would like to hear some thoughts on him wrestling with blackwell,Carr,Austin, emerson. He seemed to be a notable wrestler last year but seems to be under everyone’s radar this year. Any thought?

Does anyone know the Start times for Friday at Nelson Co and Saturday at Larue CO. Also admission costs.

Beeler is going to make a run for the 1 spot at 126 this year. He will not be competing in the 120 weight class. This just may be his year.
