    Working on my 170's, 182's ,195 rankings

Those were July's pre season rankings and a little bit has changed but not in my mind with the top 4 or actually the top 5 throwing Smith in the top 5. Morrow is a great wrestler but he's jumped in class and will be wrestling 195 this year (may even start the season heavier). Fooks is an outstanding wrestler who had a rough state tournament last year but has over the course of his career had some some really big wins and his loss to Saunders at the state tournament I feel (I won't say luck) but I'll just say Fooks wasn't nearly at his best as I've seen him wrestle. He had just lost a match in the winners bracket and just lost focus rather than turn it on like Saunders did. Saunders was very impressive in the consolation rounds at the horsepark. Braden Jones was 37-6 last year and had a summer full of a strong wrestling schedule you could possibly put together ( wrestling at the rumble in Michigan and Wallers group in PA. At the Friday night lights tourney he scored a pin against Jake Daniels who finished runner up in the Indianamat pre season tourney which outside of nationals and super 32's and Fargo and a few select others is one of the top tournaments in the country and Daniels finished 2nd amongst the 35 185 pound wrestlers. Jones was also not in the state tournament last year after suffering a major injury during warm ups right before his first match of the region 6 170 which featured 3 of the top five placers at the state tourney and was unable to continue or I really believe there could have been all 4 region 6 seeds place at the horsepark had he not gotten injured . Those 4 could ranked 2-5th above in the pre season rankings could really battle each other and could make arguments for them being ranked in any order. I'm interested to see if Matthews from CC wrestles 195 or stays 182. Either way you have Turner waiting on deck and thats like walking Maris to get to Mantle lol. Either one of those guys I'd put at the #1 spot at 182. Braden Jones isn't the only high ranked kid who didn't wrestle last year at the horsepark. Darius Parrot I'd put at #1 in the 195's unless Matthews goes there and then it would be quite the epic battle between parrot, Thompson, Miller and I'd give Matthews the slightest edge to come out on top . But that's why you wrestle the matches ! Looking forward to a great season. I will note that if Tyler Francone wrestles 195 he will be the wildcard and could possibly win it all at 195.

    Raider Rumble

Glad to hear it ! He's a potential state champion.

    Raider Rumble

I've heard the grapevine that Johnny Meiman isn'twrestling this year ? Again I'm not starting rumors or anything like that but I talked with a pretty reliable sourse that said it just wasn't what he wanted to do this year ? His dad seems like a very nice guy and if this is true I wish Johnny the best in whatever he decides to do.

    Ranger Preseason Rankings - August 12, 2013

When I use the word hype for Austin I mean it in such a way as not only undefeated in high school but possibly a future ncaa national champion. He's that good.

    Ranger Preseason Rankings - August 12, 2013

What's your definition of being overlooked ? Matthews is a stud and he's ranked number 1 by myself, Ranger and any other ratings I've seen for 182. Yes the hype on the team goes to ATM but Matthews certainly isn't overlooked and I mean that with respect. The race for 170 will be fun again with the 3 above mentioned. Turner and Meiman will once again be an epic battle in region 6. Look for Braden Jones of Boone to be Matthews biggest challenge from region 6 . Matthews beat him in 2 close matches 6-4 and 7-5 in 2011-2012
  8. The first recorded wrestling match at the Olympics occurred during the ancient Olympics in 708 BC. For the modern Games that started in 1896, wrestling has been an event in all Games except for the 1900 Games in Paris. KEEP WRESTLING AS AN OLYMPIC SPORT. THE IOC (International Olympic Committee) will vote this Sunday to keep/drop wrestling as an Olympic sport. LET'S KEEP WRESTLING !!!!!!!!!!

    Seniors

Mpire Tell SAM great choice. My nephews been working with Germaine and wow the man doesn't stop to rest . He's still a machine. I look forward to following him (SAM) at Ohio U and of course watching Austin obliterate his opponents this coming season. This off season is way too long. We have to settle for football a while I guess.

Ohio state fair wrestling tournament July 27-28

It's no longer outside . It's in the Buckeye sports Bldg. I bet those mats were hot during a july day lol. I went to an outdoor tourney called friday night lights and even at 7 pm the tape was sticking and about 10 pm condensation set in and the rings were like a skate rink . Still awesome tourney though it was fun to watch.

My pre season rankings for 170's and 182's

Way to early to tell and Ranger did a great job as always but I just felt a couple of kids were left out and a couple that I know are changing weight classes. Will be another fun exciting year ! My pre season rankings for 170's and 182's

Thanks. Just depends on who goes where as far as weight classes and every year there's always a select few that have huge growth spurts and growth development and there's just a couple that have really stood out in my mind. If you'd like you can message and tell me who you think is ranked way to high for these are just my opinions and there may be a few that may not even wrestle in these particular weight classes. These are very early pre-season rankings a lot will change before December but there's a couple that are going to shock some folks.
  20. Friday, 7/12 - the REAL Friday Night Lights @ Vandalia-Butler If your 160 and up and aren't playing football and want to get some matches in Next Friday night under the outside lights there is going to be a very neat event to wrestle at least 4-6 matches near Dayton Ohio ! I know Nick Spatola is bringing a group up as well. It's for lighter weights as well just figured alot of big guys will be doing football Here's the info: Individuals are welcome! HS+4 (weigh-in 4:30-5) 6 pm start (wrestle 5 duals) click here for info and release Mark Peck (937) 304-8372 mark.peck@vbcsd.com

Friday night lights tourney attn: big guys 160 and up

WoW what a tourney. A lot of fun to watch. It was a great experience for the kids to wrestle outside under the lights and the teams were very strong. Hope someone in KY does something like this. It was a huge success.
  22. I highly recommend coach Jones. He works with kids on the basics to get them better but more importantly he genuinely cares about the kids and works as hard if not harder than all the wrestlers. Whether your just starting or going for a state championship he and Germane are 2 of the best coaches I've ever met. Get your child up to a session and you'll thank me later.

Friday night lights tourney attn: big guys 160 and up

It's going to be one beautiful night tonight. Great for an outside tourney on a beauful complex. It's only about an hour drive from NKY and 2.5 hours from Lexington. Hope to see some of our fellow Kentuckians. Read above for information . Weigh ins are beginning at 4 pm.

My pre season rankings for 170's and 182's

Or is Tyler going to 195 ? If he's 190 now just thinking that it may be the best class for him. Either way I know the kids a contender.
