    Region Breakdown

The . only thing with a 32 man state is that kids from the best regions at least make the state example the 3&4 seeds are stronger in most cases like in regions 4 and 6 than say some of regions 2 and 7s 1&2 seeds and I don't think any format can change that So id say leave it the way it is. This is just my opinion and I know its not the case in every Weight class. but I will agree that I wish the state tournament was seeded which opens up a whole new can of worms

Region 6 I'd like to see its !!

I agree and would go with Belk to win this one. Still a good match up though and am looking forward to the Boone County championships hopefully Dru Shoerer will be healthy not saying he will win it but he can scramble and that adds to the 152's. I agree on Meiman taking on Matthews but I always thought Meiman was good he has really strong legs and is deceiving with his strength and thus his ranking at 170 this year number 1 can't get much higher . Matthews is just a stud& he keeps getting better each year as I saw he beat some good quality opponents at the holiday tourney in Ohio. Braden Jones also put up a great fight this past weekend by winning 4 matches including defeating a kid that finished 2nd in the sectionals in Ohio at 182 and then lost to top ranked Jack Harris from Urbania 4-0 and it was a fierce battle with Braden on top of him for a good portion of the match but hats off to Harris who finished 2nd at Fargo and winning the GMVWA for getting the 4-0 win

Region 6 Rankings Jan 10th update

Heavyweights are hard to rank. I watched Sinclair beat Platt who beat Johnson and could see an argument of whose the best true heavyweight. You said it best when you said anything can happen. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the seeding beings as they've never wrestled each other this year. It could go either way as to whose the number 1 seed but Sinclair by winning the NKAC should get it imho and I do think it will be a fun match up should both reach the finals. I've seen Johnson lose 2 matches in person this year but I'd still never count him out of anything. As far as Miller goes you can definately see how much he's worked and has improved dramatically over last year but Thompson clearly is still the man to beat in Region 6 as far as 195 goes. The 4 of them should be quite the battle at the bluegrass with Darius Parrot - Trevor Thompson and Miller and Devin Morrow has improved alot this year is well and is still undefeated like 28-0 I believe as of this update. I give the slightest edge to Parrot winning it all but Trevor is a beast on the mat and I think it will be low scoring matches because Parrott is a leg rider and is very good at it but hard to ride legs if your on the bottom lol and I know Trevor can get him there and so can Miller. As my name reads I'm a fan of wrestling. I can't predict who will win every match I've missed a few this year . My rankings are for the average Joe that loves wrestling and when going to there sons match they get a basic of idea of whose doing what. I'm no Ranger either this is for a fun hobby and hopefully some get enjoyment out of my postings. I just do the best I can on the weights that I know the best and with the region I love the most. I noticed region 3 coaches have started doing a coaches poll for there regions rankings and the guy that does region 1 does a great job on breaking down that region. It's fun to give a guideline on what to expect. It's just like the Ashford kid winning the Conner tourney the only way I'll ever know it is if someone posts it. I'm always amazed at the number of results that are still not posted anywhere (such as track or high school scorebook or Kap or Baumspage or yappi or Indianamat... Heck I'm still looking for last years full Dragon tourney results SMH. Best of luck to all !

    Region 1 Rankings 1/7/14

I know you do a good job on rankings. I just can't read them this year . Not on my desktop or my ipad. If you get a few extra minutes could you please tell me who you have for top 4 in the 170's, 182's and 195's ? Thanks alot ! I do the region 6 rankings and wish someone from each region would do them as we do. I'm doing a top 20 in the those 3 weight classes as there the only 3 classes that I can honestly say I know very well. Maybe just a top 10 in the 195's

    Track Wrestling

I wish every tournament used track. It's great for the sport and most importantly the fans !

    Dual

Fern Creek has a nice team. I think Woodford outduals them easily when healthy but still a top 10 maybe even a top 5 (that may be a stretch) contender this year

Last two weeks of the Year.

I know Western Hills/ Frankfort Feb 1st and the Mustang Classic (North Oldham) cancelled last year because of the lousy white stuff Feb 8th but is always a great tourney

NKAC REGION 6 RANKINGS DEC 29TH

Thanks about the rankings I try my best but there's always a few kids I'm going to miss and there are several injuries some major such as Logan Jones (WV) even though there not in the NKAC it still has a big void for region 6 being out for season, Jacob Warwick (Conner) out for season, Dustin Turner (CC) out for several weeks. There are a few others that will be back very soon. I was there from the semi's until the end and was really impressed not just with Scott but alot of the kids and teams. Scott is going to be (already good) but very strong the next couple of years. What's changed now vs even 4 years ago is the parody amongst the wrestlers. In most weight classes you have 1 or 2 very dominant kids but even they can be beaten as proven yesterday when an unranked kid by myself, Ranger and or anyone else pinned a top 5 kid in the state. The kids are becoming more equal and improving so much that it could even change before the year is up in some weight classes. Some of the kids who I noticed a big improvement or just growth are. Derek Hicks SK- Gabe Platt Conner- Ryan Wolf Ryle-and even though he was pinned in round 1 you can tell Miller from Scott has improved his strength. Trevor's just a beast but his technical skills go unnoticed at times and he's slick when he has to be. Many of the lighter weight class kids impressed me. You can tell from the youth programs that wrestling here in region 6 is going to remain the areas top region for many years to come. But the parody around the state is growing every weekend not just here but you sure can see it here too ! Great NKAC (as far as matches anyway) The crowd seemed kinda sparce & it didn't have that championship atmosphere imho but it always does for the wrestlers. So yell at grandma and uncles and brothers and sisters say hey you need to come too lol ! For love of the sport... Fanofwrestling6
  18. I don't think any rankings could be spot on. I've noticed alot more parody in most weight classes this year. The summer programs and youth wrestling has and is paying off. I think that yes the top 2 could be established in most cases but in alot ofweight classes the 18h ranked kid could beat a top 5 kid or a non ranked kid could beat a top 4... Happened at the NKAC. Good job Gabe Platt Conner defeating Johnson from Dixie in the heavyweights.

    NKAC

I'm hoping some kids get better quickly but it's not looking good for some of the top wrestlers in the region. Logan Jones is out for season so I've been told 160 Dustin Turner 170 CC Hope he's ok but looks to be out of the NKAC Braden Jones will more than likely not be able to wrestle at the NKAC 182 illness but he will be back soon ! (he may be able to go NKAC) Jacob Warwick I was told could be out for the season (I hope this isn't true but apparently he has to have surgery he's a warrior on the mat and a great kid to go along with a great family ! I wish him the best Dru Shoerer Boone 152 more than likely out for a couple of weeks nursing an injury. I'm sure there's more but haen't really looked at the seeds yet. Get well soon guys ! Your true Fan

    NKAC

Yes it will be seeded. Top 8 I believe but it may only be top 6 but I know it will be seeded. Should be on trackwrestling.com by the morning maybe even later today but I'm thinking morning. I know there's a few top guys that may not be able to wrestle because of A. illness or skin condition B. various other injuries but hopefully there better and will be able to go if so it will be a top notch event with some great matches within the always super strong region 6. Hopefully someone else can shed the light as to injuries from different schools etc but hope all are ok to go !

    New college program in Ky

AWESOME !!!! Great for the sport here in the bluegrass
  22. There's alot of good 195's .. From being at the 5 star Classic, The Woodford County Inv I've noticed alot of parody in the upper weights and even in a few of the lower weights. (excluding Austin Myers of course in the 220's) but in the 170's 182's, 195's The top few are standing out but there are a bunch of guys battling for just the right to get to the state tourney let alone place in it.
  23. Not bad Kentuckywrestler .. I would have to say just a few differences... 182's Fooks has been wrestling 195 all season. He may go 182 but you left off Saunders from Bullit Central. Also Braden Jones beat Dodd in the finals of the 5 star. They've wrestled twice and honestly Dodd hasn't gotten a move on him. He did do a good job of covering up etc and wrestled a smart match but if they go again I'd take Jones in a second. Also Jonah Schacklet from Meade is wrestling 182 and Cole Sherman is off to a good start for Union at 182.. Where is Devin Smith ? It's a shame but Logan Jones is done for the season at 160... Class kid and I'm sick about it...

NKAC REGION 6 RANKINGS DEC 29TH

Logan Jones is a hard worker. He's traveled with my nephew on Spatolas trips and this truly sickens me. I wish him and his family only the best. A great wrestler is out and there is no win win situation with any of this. He would have contended very well for a state title this year and there are very very few wrestlers that can say that. I know he will be succesful at no matter what he decides to do in life. Individual with team results

To the best of my knowledge they are just going to make it a Friday event.
