    Youth Wrestling in High School

Read on another site Felipe is in Kansas at a junior college and is wrestling again. Hope he succeeds as there were some awful keyboard cowards ripping him the last few years in Ohio. Seems like this is like debating the election. Everyone has an opinion and minds aren't being changed.
  2. Because I know all the lurkers out there need a distraction from this horrible Sandy fiasco and all the politics discussions I will provide a diversion. I just accomplished my second greatest physical feat since college (the first being loading a piano on a dolly solo in 2003). I just completed running 110.5 miles in this month! For me, that's a big deal as I'm not and never was a natural runner. I'd like to thank my iPod, Eminem, Coeur de Pirate, House of Pain, Black Eyed Peas, and Ms. S...

  3. It pains me to root for an SEC team, but......lets go Vols!!!! Derek Dooley is top quality and the Cocks and Spurrier are evil incarnate.

    Youth Wrestling in High School

This question reminds of the debate a generation ago. I'm not sure when it ended, sometime in the late 1980s I think, but the DII and DIII national champs and AAs were allowed to compete in the NCAA DI national tournament. Most failed to reach AA status at the DI level but a few dominated--anyone heard of Carleton Haselrig for Pitt-Johnstown? The NCAA disallowed in part because of fairness issues. The lower division wrestlers didn't have the grind, it was argued, during the season and were more fresh in March. I'm not saying any of that applies to middle school kids. I just believe that a kid should be a kid and worry about high school championships when he's actually in high school. I don't begrudge any kid or his coach/parents who wrestles up. I can't help but think of Felipe Martinez who was virtually burned out in many folks' opinions by his senior year.

    Youth Wrestling in High School

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm against it. We're really only talking about the first few weight classes anyway though. KHSAA is the Kentucky HIGH SCHOOL Athletic Association. To me that means a kid should be in HS to compete. Average high schoolers have their hands full and don't need to be competing against the stud middle schoolers. On the other hand, stud middle schoolers often are not mature enough emotionally to handle the stressors of hs sports whether it's from their coach, family, or self induced. The Mark Hall example is extreme, but that shouldn't be able to happen. 4 years of competition in HS is sufficient in my opinion

    Forget Howe Vs Taylor

I'd rather see Howe vs Ruth!! Dake versus Taylor goes to Taylor despite the recent freestyle match. Steiber thumps Ramos again all next year and Jordan Oliver bumps up and wins 141. Any other pending matchups to for which to look?
  7. En route to Chicago, Dallas, and back to Lonneyville this morning. Another looong one. Beats having to go to a hotel though.

  8. Nothing more embarrassing than the security clearance guy knocking on your neighbors doors to ask about you!!

  9. Wondering if I should go to the Y and workout or sit on the deck and watch Jill swim. Feel like a zombie--Salt Lake turns will be the death of me.

  10. Headed to Salt Lake City and back and will pick John up from wrestling camp at noon--this will be a long morning!

  12. Highly recommend Madagascar 3 for no other reason than it makes fun of France's "2 week work year" and the "Canadian work ethic."

  13. Who wants to take a nap?

  14. Over 2000 hours of Airbus time! KC-135, 727, 737, and 747 (all Boeing) is over 3000 so still a ways to go before I'm un-American. Viva Airbus.

  15. AQP the next three days. This won't be fun.

North Oldham Loses Three Middle School State Champs

I think it's pretty classless to drag these boy's names into a post obviously written to slam Coach Brown. Nothing good for Trinity, Coach Brown, the boys, and especially wrestling in general comes from this. Standup should be a gentleman and apologize. Take your issue to the man and not on a board where kids read. I'm proud if the youth team at the Shamrock Club. We've had great support from Coach Brown and he's as fine a man and coach as anyone in Kentucky wrestling. When I grew up many said the same kinds of things about Lakewood St Edward and their program. I hope Standup takes some time to self reflect before shooting off again.
  17. 23:20 is way too late for a swim meet to end.

  18. Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon a great crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers in arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselv...

  21. Why am I seeing comments my FB friends make on other's pages of people I am not FB friends? Also, why am I seeing pics of people with whom I'm not FB friends? Not real keen on strangers seeing my pics when a FB friend makes a comment. Confused? Me too.

    The Middle School List - Pre-Season 2012-2013

Wow, no love for the Shamrock Club! We've got a few guys (actually more than a few) working hard this off season. Zane Brown should be on everyone's list as a returning placer. Too many others to name, but the work's being done.
  24. It's Trifecta Tuesday: all three Reynolds kids are grouchy!!
