They may have started ridiculously late, but there were a ton of good finals matches. Most exciting was probably Cooper beating Lampe by one on a takedown with 13 seconds left. Also, in a 1 vs 2, Canter over Jones 11-6.
-
Does anyone know when wrestling starts and what time finals are scheduled for?
-
Is there any evidence that actually shows that is what grew the # of teams from 70 to 100?
-
Are there any tournaments with an opening for 1/18 - 1/20? Can be in KY or a border state.
-
Definitely agree. The problem is if it's used to prove an idea that may or may not be true.
-
Also, overall population growth. Check this out: http://www.indexmundi.com/facts/united-states/quick-facts/kentucky/population-growth#chart

Sorry if I misread, but the "proof is in the pudding" comment lead me to believe you feel 32 has caused the growth.
-
Growth is happening, that much is not in question. But, just because both A and B are occurring, that doesn't mean A caused B. My original question was, is there anything that directly links the two? Do we have schools out there saying they started their programs because of an increased chance to make it to state? It is a definite possibility that is what caused the growth of wrestling in the state. But to simply state that both things happened during a time period and attribute one's happening to the other as fact, is a fallacy --- if the only thing supporting it are the dual occurrences.

Are there instances where a middle school/youth program has came before the HS one?
-
. I'm not questioning the numbers. Nor am I saying the reason is incorrect. I'm just curious if there is any actual evidence saying that is what caused the change. I don't recall hearing a program was started because the state tournament expanded from 16 to 32.

Kyle Ruschell would disagree.

I used to hate the 32-man bracket but have come around on it. While I would prefer the 16-man bracket, it sure does seem like we have more schools wrestling than before. Hard to say how much of that is cause/effect from increasing the bracket size, but something is working. Anyways, I'm now saving my venom for the small school/big school state dual split.

LaRue's schedule has them down for Sectional Duals at Louisville Western this weekend. I think 'New" may be mistaking the Regional 2 duals for a sectional duals...
-
While I feel Louisville is definitely the best location for state, the YUM Center is 10x too large. Unfortunately I'm not sure a good venue exists in Louisville...

LaRue 76 - Anderson 3 LaRue 66 - Boyle 12 LaRue 75 - Nelson 0 LaRue 84 - Thomas Nelson 0 LaRue 63 - Danville 8

LaRue went 5-0. I know they beat Ohio County, Central Hardin and avenged their two losses on the year by defeating Oldham County and Meade County.
-
Pretty crazy. Never really hear of anyone bumping up as the season progresses.
-
So...as a 5 seed Cooper was teched in the first round?
-
Is there a site to track these results and see the brackets?
-
Josh, I'm not sure what you mean here. All tournaments use weight classes.

I thought state championships were this past weekend? -
I know for a long time both Joe Carr Jr and Ian Horn were top 10 nationally. I don't think either had 250 wins.
-
Does anyone have a list of participants? Thanks in advance.

I would disagree with your first part for reasons I stated in my original post. But I really like the second part. Helping to promote State Duals and making it the only show in town would help make it more of a marquee event. That is something I believe would help grow interest.
