    TOC Results

In addition to the place winners, several of our other Kentucky wrestlers performed well yesterday. In particular, Keegan Duncan, Hudson Heidorf, Alex McIntosh, and Dallas Miles from our Warrior club had multiple wins and barely missed placing. Zane Brown from Trinity also had a good day. Thanks to the many coaches and parents from Kentucky who made this all possible. We were well represented and everyone involved with Kentucky wrestling should be proud Mark Myers Kentucky Bluegrass Warriors

    KY Team Wins Midwest Nationals

Brady Emerson also had a good day. He placed 4th, losing a very close match to Hudson Heidorf in the 111# consolation finals. Both boys have been a big part of the Warriors success for the past two years.

    KY Team Wins Midwest Nationals

Kentucky's Blugrass Warriors Wrestling Club won the 7th & 8th grade team competition yesterday at the US Army Midwest Nationals in Bloomington, Illinois. The team wrestled exceptionally well there and featured four individual Champions: Keegan Duncan (115) John Shirkey (124) Dalton Geoghegan (183) Nick Skaggs (253) We also had second place finishes from Kohl Dodd and Matthew Davis; third place finishes from Zane Brown, Hudson Heidorf, and Max Emerson; and a few fourth place finishers. Our Warriors won several head-to-head matchups in beating the second-place team from Purler Wrestling Academy. Overall, we dominated the middle school age division and beat good teams from throughout the Midwest. Congratulations to all 18 of our wrestlers who competed there, as well as to Coaches Wheeler, Branch, and Shirkey who made the trip to Bloomington and helped get the best from our team. Overall, it was a great day our boys and for Kentucky wrestling. Mark Myers Kentucky Bluegrass Warriors bigdaddycoach@gmail.com

Coaches needed for MALE High School

We are starting a High School wrestling program at Male High School in Louisville for the 2011-12 season. We have excellent support from the school administration and athletic department, and should have some experienced wrestlers on the team. We are now seeking applicants for coaches at all levels to join two existing candidates. In addition, we will be starting a middle school club program for our feeder schools. If you are interested in these paid positions, please fax a letter of inquiry or your resume to (502) 633-4164. If you have any questions, you may also contact me directly. Coaches needed for MALE High School

Not yet. We should be able to make an announcement in a week or two.
  7. We are starting a middle school wrestling club in affiliation with the new High School program at Male. I am looking for assistant coaches, and have sufficient funding to offer a stipend to one or two qualified candidates. This is a tremendous opportunity to help build a successful program from the ground up. We have a terriffic group of potential wrestlers from Male's feeder schools, and expect to have some experienced wrestlers join us as well. We also have strong support from the school and the High School team. The emphasis in our club will be on strong fundamentals, character building, and making sure the kids learn to enjoy the sport for the long term. If you think you might be interested in joining us, send me an e-mail describing your wrestling/coaching experience and your availability from October through January. 8. The Kentucky Bluegrass Warriors entered 31 wrestlers in the Ohio Tournament of Champions in Columbus last weekend. Our duals team won a close match against the team from Maryland, lost a close match against the New England all-stars, and were soundly beaten by a very tough team from New Jersey. In the individual tournament, 19 of our guys won at least one match. We were lead by: Nick Skaggs 2nd place (230) Matthew Davis 3rd place (230) Dominic Lampe 4th place (133) Tyler Frankrone 6th place (126) Cobe Calhoun 6th place (150) Congratulations to all of our wrestlers. You represented Kentucky well. Mark Myers Kentucky Bluegrass Warriors bigdaddycoach@gmail.com

Coaches needed for MALE High School

We could either go with a current coach who wants to help start a new program or with an assistant who wants to "move up". There has been some interest already. It should be a very attractive situation, as we have an excellent pool of athletes and strong institutional support. I'm sure it will take us a few years to get up to speed, but we should be able to develop a strong program within a few years.

We are not sure yet on the region. Our Athletic Director is currently working on that.

Kentucky USA Wrestling Spring-Summer Tournaments v.8

We have started a middle school version of the regional all-star team for kids around Louisville - Bluegrass Warriors. Last year was a lot of fun and fairly successful. We placed 13th out of 97 teams at the US Army Midwest Nationals in Illinois. This year's team is going to be much bigger and stronger. I will post more details in the Youth Wrestling forum. If anyone wants to learn more, feel free to contact me. Mark Myers Bluegrass Warriors Wrestling Club bigdaddycoach@gmail.com
