    Union Co. Camp.

I know I am way late on this, but I was just looking through old threads today and I must say that this was awesome to hear. I just want to personally thank all those who attended, and we are already looking forward to next summer!

    New State Duals Format

I believe they still have it, but it is a post season event, that follows the state tournament by a week or two.

    New State Duals Format

I did a little research on this; what I found is that in Indiana, there are now 3 classes. However, the schools within those classes have the option of bumping up to compete at the state tournament. Thus far, Mater Dei is the only team that has taken advantage of that option. The idea of offering up the option to compete in large schools would be congruent with our state's current views on middle school participants. If a student-athlete is able to compete at the high school level when while still in middle school, we afford them the option to seek a competition level more suitable for their skill-set. I have no problem with breaking it into two divisions, so long as the right to seek a fitting competition level is no infringed upon. In addition, we have a couple open dates to play with, and would love to set up a dual with a powerhouse "Large" school team... I would go as far as to offer up the night before state duals; assuming that there is a Louisville area school that would be willing to host said dual. Anyone interested?

@J.W. How do you set up your schedule on Trackwrestling? When I go through the OPC and enter my schedule it takes me to track wrestling, but I can't figure out how to enter results or even sign up for the $50 Stats Program.

    and, Congrats Jayce Carr

Jayce Carr has signed his letter of intent to wrestle at Cleveland State University. Congrats to a future Viking! Jayce is also partnering with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help fight breast cancer. He will be asking for pledges for a dollar amount per win for the season, and following the state tournament, donors will make one monetary donation equal to the dollar amount pledged times the number of victories he accrued over the entire season, which goes directly to the foundation. Let me know if you are interested and I will give you his contact information.

    Youth Wrestling in High School

Mpire, I can agree with a good portion of what you are saying. However, there is one small statement that I am having difficulty digesting: "no middle school coach or youth coach cares anywhere as much as a parent." Unfortunately, this may be the majority; but I personally know of a few coaches who care every bit as much as the child's parents about his success.

    Toughest Wrestling Rooms and Coaches

I love how tough our room! Beat each other down for two hours, then shake hands and tell 'em great job, and we will do it again tomorrow! Who's pumped for season? http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/249787-2012-Pre-Season-Workout-Videos/video/657375-Union-County-Braves-Preseason-2012

    Brock vs Jayce

Honestly, I can never tell who wins. When I say, "wrestle" it just turns into a wild dust cloud emitting the most terrible noises I have ever heard. When I yell, "time!" and the dust settles, it's just two panting, sweaty dudes with scratches and bruises from head to toe. Hope that adds some insight.

    Schools Adding wrestling

Mizzou will not be dropping their program. Year in and year out, the wrestling team is the most consistently successful program at the school. Alden and Smith have too good of a working relationship with one another. They just hired two time NCAA champ and world and olympic medalist Sammie Henson as the assistant coach. The way it looks right now, they will continue to participate in the Big 12 tournament as their qualifier. Which will put the Big 12 back up to 5 teams with the addition of West Virginia.

    Schools Adding wrestling

I'm way behind on this thread, but I have the powerpoint on how wrestling can benefit football and skills that transfer over. It was presented at the coaches assoc. clinic last year. Email me if you think you my might want it. marcus.hoehn@union.kyschools.us

    what would you guys think???

That would be pretty sweet. I was just sitting here thinking about this site, and wondering how difficult it would be to add some features, such as a place to upload videos, like highlights. Or to have team pages, where coaches could go and edit and make announcements or post schedules and results...

    Fargo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Austin cannot go, because USA wrestling has decided that Cadets can no longer wrestle up, and I am assuming that he is indeed a cadet. Only Juniors at Junior duals. I know it sucks, because we have some tough cadets that I would love to have on the team....

    Summer Camp

If you plan on attending Union County's Thoroughbred Camp June 6-9, I am asking that you please get your registration in so we might get a more accurate depiction of numbers in order to offer the best scenario possible in regards to camp counselors and housing accomodations. You do not have to send in payment with your registration, you can pay on the day camp starts. Much cheaper option than most ($110 or $95 if you bring five from same team), and great clinicians: Jason Mester, Jeremy Hunter, Marcus Hoehn, and either Nick Marable or Michael Chandler. thoroughbredbrochurePDF.pdf

    Fargo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We Union boys are planning on taking probably four to Fargo. Coach Fahy has done most of the leg work in the past couple of years. I had to sit out last year because I had to take the PRAXIS so that I could be a fully certified teacher. In the past, there is no way of "picking" a team, because there has not been enough interest to warrant such a process. I think there were something like nine kids from KY the past couple of years. Our boys will probably do just Freestyle. I am trying to get some things together for some freestyle practices and some competitions. I will post more when I know more.... ALSO, who would be interested in wrestling for Team KY in the Freestyle Junior Duals in Oklahoma?

Oh, and it's $50. Trevor Moody (IN) will also be down.

    National Training Saturday @ SK

We still have plenty of room for anyone who wants to come train down here this Saturday, the 24. Just let me know. I know Caleb Ervin is in town for spring break and I almost have him talked into showing a little bit of technique, seeing as he wrestles for one of the top D-I clinicians in the business (Jim Heffernan). Many of our better middle school kids will be gone to Danville for the middle school duals, but most of our high school boys will be there and some pretty tough elementary kids.
