State Dual Champs and State Tournament Champs?

I would say: Campbell has 9 possible placers (2 champs), Woodford has 6 possible placers (1 champ), Union has 8-10 possible placers (2 champs) CC 106-Wells (top 4) 113-Krebs (ltop 6) 126-Spahr (did not wrestle at duals?...top 8) 132-Maggard (top 6) 138-Fausz (champ) 170-Turner (possible finalist) 182-Matthews (top 4..possible finalist) 220-Myers (champ) 285-Sinclair (top 6) Where they are weak they are WEAK, that was very apparent at duals. This line-up might be all that qualifies from the hammer that is region 6! WC 106-Hurst (possible finalist) 113-Fallon (top 8) 120-Boston (Champ) 126-Carr (possible finalist) 145-Andrioni (top 4) 182-Courtney (top 4) No one else really impressed, but solid and from a slightly weaker region so could get some points from other guys! UC 106-S. Ervin (top 5) 113-Sheffer (possible finalist) 120-Dezember (possible finalist) 126-Blackwell (champ) 132-B. Ervin (champ) 138-Oxford (top 8) 145-Gahaffer (top 4) 285-Brown (did not wrestle at duals?...top 4) Was impressed with their 182lb guy at state duals 3-2 with Smith from moore also with 170 not being as deep this year their Smith could place. Same thing as woodford they come from a relatively weak region and could get some points from their other guys! St. X did not get to watch them this year and they bounced guys all over the place at the duals! I think the state tournament is anyones to win and lose!!

    State tournament time table

WHAT!!!!!! so they wont do a spotlight or let parents on the floor for pictures, but they will take away from the prestige of making the finals!!!! What a bunch of BS, charge us 50 dollars for an all sessions pass 100 dollars for food (over two days), and now wont even recognise our finalists (1-2). I don't understand why the KHSAA can't get this right!!! LET ME GUESS THEY WANT TO SAVE TIME, WE GOT OUT TOO LATE!!! wah wah wah the kids deserve to get their moment in the spot light! If they are worried about time which is what i am guessing is the problem add more mats earlier in the tournament....KHSAA you are a joke!

    friday matches at state

I don't think that is true, if you only wrestle to the placing rounds champ semis and conso qtrs then the most any athlete can have is five the first day! Someone correct me if my numbers are wrong! loss 1st round (1 champ + 4 conso matches) = 5 loss 2nd round (2 champ + 3 conso matches) = 5 loss 3rd round (3 champ + 2 conso matches) = 5 The winners are in the semis with 3 matches and the people who lost would be in the conso qtrs with 5 matches, where if they win on the second day they continue on for third and if they lose they are in the seventh and eighth place match!

glo, As someone pointed out earlier they are both eighth graders, so if you were not looking at their club (middle school) schedule you were in the wrong place!

    friday matches at state

I believe if the schedule holds true it is two championship and two consolations! I personally feel like they should wrestle until the only people left are the ones who place, make it to the second day, you are a state placer. But, the KHSAA would never do that because of money, less kids the second day means less parents to pay the outrageous gate fees!

Rankings for 106,113, and 120 pound weight class ( top 5)

Dutch is right! The last time they met was at the Bearcat Brawl in December, good match and close 1 or 2 points I believe.

State Dual Champs and State Tournament Champs?

Well now the new numbers seem to show a 50/50 shot at winning both! I know some State Duals have been cancelled due to snow, so it really might be half the time the Dual winner also wins State. Good luck hope everyone is ready!

No, what I am saying is that Ervin lost to CC's back up...granted Moore is tough as nails and would start on most teams including Union County!

State Dual Champs and State Tournament Champs?

Technically one could qualify for a weight class up until the region window opens, which is next Monday the 10th. If I am wrong, this is the way it should be, the state duals should have no bearing (considering it is a non KHSAA sanctioned event) on the deadline for someone to certify for weight it should be the last day one could compete in a regular season tourney which is this Saturday (no wrastlin on Sunday in KY) the 8th.

Ervin should not be ranked so high at 106...he has a loss to Moore an 8th grader from Campbell.

Maybe we will add Union or St. X this year, but chances and statistics say otherwise.

State Dual Champs and State Tournament Champs?

Thanks Coach I really would like to see how it plays out, so we as a wrestling community can get a better grasp of our debates!

State Dual Champs and State Tournament Champs?

82 views and no comments guess my point was made very clear...state duals is a good measure for the teams who are in the hunt for the state title, but they are not very good at telling us who will win it all! I hope everyone stays healthy or gets healthy over the next couple weeks. Good luck to everyone...let the post season begin!

2014 State Duals Pools and Results

I will agree with Tarzan on this issue. Campbell County is clearly not the best DUAL team in the state, I think that was made very clear today. Union County is probably the team to beat, but Campbell is in no way out of the conversation for making a run at a state title, neither is St. X or Woodford. Anyone who knows anything about wrestling knows that 7 or 8 tough guys with the ability to place at the state tournament can and will be in the hunt when the State Championship that really matters takes place in three weeks. Congrats UC and St. X, also happy the overall dual took place was fun to watch!

    GMVWA

No one should be making excuses for anyone. Fausz decided he was going to chase the toughest competition in the field (look at the weight class 4 number one ranked guys and 2 number two ranked guys in their respective weights/states). Everyone knows he chases tough competition was at 138 for the rumble to wrestle Bowshier who he majored. Went down to 132 last week and beat Bobby Smith with ease at Pickerington. Came back up to 138 this weekend to wrestle in probably the toughest 138lb bracket in the country this "weekend". Yes he lost but who cares everyone has lost even as someone else posted the great Sanderson lost in his redshirt freshman year of college. For those of you who don't know there are 2 tournaments that really matter for a Kentucky high school wrestler... they both take place in February.

    Match ups in region 6

Does any team in this Region have all of their wrestlers where they are going to be for the region and state tournaments? I keep hearing rumors that this guy is dropping or this guy is going to stay. I can not say for certain, but that must make Rangers rankings a pain in the butt to complete. I think some of SK's guys had to have doctors notes so they might be stuck where they are at this point, but does anyone have any info on who is definitly going where for the big show!

    TJ v.s Brock

I feel like TJ will match up well against Brock. He does not break position and is tough to score on. I also think his size (granted I have not seen Brock this year but he is kind of short in stature espcially compared to TJ) he is very tall and lanky. TJ might be the toughest wrestler on top that I have seen this year. I think TJ slows the match down and scores from top and does not get taken down he wins by 2-4 points (in the semis...lol! gotta love the random draw)

    State Duals coming up

I think Larue runs away with it! Campbell, Union, Trinity will be in the hunt. If Simon Kenton gets in they will also be hard to beat, I think they lost to Campbell by 2 and Ryle by 2 without 3 of their starters. State duals are always a fun event to watch.

    Match ups in region 6

I know that CC's 113 Maggard is dropping to 106 (108) for sure, I spoke to the coach at CC-Ryle dual, but other than that CC seemed unsure of who was going to drop and who was not so they might have big changes or they might be the same. Raider, I know you are mad at me, but would you elaborate on your answer? If not, We will just have to wait until after Christmas (no early presents this year ).
