  1. people were saying that zarths takedown was questinable but he had a definitive takedown earlier in the match that was not awarded, if they had awarded the earlier one and not the later one the result would have been the same

I totally agree that the refs missed that call early in the match, but to say that the result would've been the same seems kind of silly to me. Obviously it would be impossible to know really, but I definitely think an early score would've changed the way the rest of that match played out. And I don't think the call on that last takedown was necessarily a bad one, just looked like it could've probably gone either way from where I was sitting. But it sure does stink when the call isn't made in favor of the guy you're pulling for. I may be totally bias, but I don't see how anyone could've watched that match and not thought that Osbourne was the better wrestler on that night. Best finals match for sure!

  2. I really thought Shotwell would win this one, but I'm not sure if he could ever get a takedown on davis after watching this match, seemed like he took a million shots and never really came close. Davis was too short and his stance is so low he couldn't get under him, and he's so fast that he couldn't get around him. How do you take that guy down?!? It was a pretty sweet match, both guys worked hard the whole time. Although my guy didn't win, I wasn't at all disappointed with this match.... accept for the fact that it wasn't under the lights.

  4. I'll have to jump in and disagree. I have only seen Lenz on one occasion, and I was definitely unimpressed. He's not going to be muscling around 125 pounders like he could the 112's, and even though I'm sure he's stronger than Caleb, Caleb is used to wrestling against guys with that strength. Schneider's too good to just be out muscled, and that's all I've seen out of Lenz. Unforunate draw for Schneider to have to wrestle in the first round, but I'll never complain about getting to see a good match!

  5. Interesting... I wonder how that will play out. Palmer definitely can't get lower than a #2 seed then. He got hurt in the match before he lost to that Sycamore kid, which may have had something to do with his loss. I doubt that factor will come into play though. You'd have to bet on the fact that Palmer is better than Supe, but Schneider could be better than Palmer, and Supe could be better than Schneider. The #1 seed will probably be determined by the best orator out of Bankemper and Ruschell.... or maybe a fight. I'll bet on Ruschell for the latter, Bankemper probably has the edge on the other. :-D Either way I don't really see it mattering, I think it will be a Schneider vs. Palmer finals match up.

  6. hmm... I think you might have something mixed up in that post tc. Caleb will probably get the #1 seed over Palmer since they have a common opponent in a kid from Sycamore, which someone commented on earlier, Caleb beating him and Palmer losing to him. Palmer will get the #2 seed and Supe the #3 seed. Palmer handled Supe at the dragon, don't see Supe beating him. Supe will take third, which I agree sucks for whatever #2 draws him at state. It should be Schneider and Palmer in the finals, a match that I am very much looking forward to.

  7. I don't think anyone sees any of these guys losing, but I would rank them from least to greatest like this:

    Fahy/Courtney - I give them a basically 100% untouchable rating

Hitchings - Nobody near his skill level, but under very unlikely circumstances there are some guys that are big enough at this weight that a desperation move could spell disaster

Johnson - I've got a sleeper pick that I think could keep it close.... beat him? I dunno....

Bradbury - A lot of talent at this weight class, will probably see three rounds of pretty tough kids

Whiting - Pretty much based solely on the fact that he's a heavyweight... some pretty crazy stuff can go down with the big guys

And, for the others that WC added (again, from least to greatest):

Bradford - Very strong (physically and especially mentally) and he doesn't make mistakes - someone will have to be better than him on that day

Ervin - Norbury took it to Murphy, and Murphy gave Ervin a run for his money, I'm just not sure how well Norbury will match up with Ervin

Ohlman - I think a healthy Dusty Brown takes him, but is he healthy? Think Jude could give him a run as well...

Zarth - Has wrestled Osbourne 1-1 with an overtime loss and a 1 point decision

  8. If we're talking which region is gonna put up the most points at state I'll stick with region 6. If we're talking about dual team strength from top to bottom, I'm not sure. I think that both Ryle and Campbell are better than Woodford and any other region 7 team, but there's a drop off from those two teams to SK and Cooper, then a very large drop off for all of the other teams. I could be wrong, but I don't recall any of the other region 6 teams even having full teams.

  9. Without a doubt, region 7 is by far the toughest region out there.8-) There is no question about it, just look at the ranking of the wrestlers in region 7.

Actually, if you look at the rankings of the wrestlers it will show you that region 6 is, no question about it. Check out region rankings at the bottom. Not to say that region 6 is necessarily the toughest just because the rankings say so (although I think it is) but if you're gonna go by rankings then you've got to accept the numbers...!

  10. I've been pretty impressed with Yenter when I've seen him wrestle, I would be surprised if he doesn't place. He might be as good as anyone in this weight class outside of Fahy, but I would also agree that he's just not big enough to beat some of these guys

  11. I would be willing to guess that Bradford is ranked on there solely because of his showing at the SWOCA. He wrestled a kid from Harrison pretty tough in the finals, leading in the third period but ended up losing 6-5 I believe. The Harrison kid is a three time state placer in Ohio, currently ranked #1 and will be wrestling for NC State next year. You're not gonna get much national recognition unless you're wrestling against the big dawgs... I totally agree that Courtney should be up there though. Has he wrestled any high profile tournaments/wrestlers?
