I noticed that on Henry Clay's track roster they have Maurice Gibson listed. Is he wrestling? If so he is a runner up contender at heavyweight and maybe a state placer. He's got all the tools for a heavyweight.

A kid to keep an eye out on for Henry Clay this year is Jordan Kerr, wrestled at Tates Creek two years ago, now at Henry Clay.

Can anyone pass along info on state duals this year? I'm just wondering if there are still going to be two divisions and if anyone has the information, the districts or regions that they are using to decide who gets to go to this year. Thanks in advance!!

With the official start of practice nearing who are some wrestlers that could potentially surprise this season? Maybe those who are unranked but have the potential to earn a ranking or those ranked lower who might make a run into the placing rounds. I'll throw a few kids out from Lexington since I have most recently seen them. PLD- Tanner Stuart Bryan Station- Derrick Soper TC- Cubaka M. (good kid, don't remember his last name) Henry Clay- Lucas Soard Lafayette- Nick Batts These are all good kids, I think Soper has a legit chance to place if he continues to improve. I hope everyone has a safe and productive season.

Thanks. Any idea about the following tournaments: Tates Creek Inv? Defender of the Station? 5 Star? Also, I think Harrison Co and Franklin Co. used to have tournaments as well. If anyone has a list of teams for these events it would be nice to see.

In looking through the master list for coaches tonight, I saw that Pikeville and Todd Central are listed as having wrestling coaches now along with Lexington Catholic which was mentioned in another thread. Are these new programs definitely confirmed for this year?

Was on the KHSAA site and it says the new coach at Anderson Co. is John Griggs, if so that's a really nice hire for them.

Is there a centralized listing of events? I was on kywca and the event list was from 2010.

McCreary Central 5-10 is really close it just depends on who comes to wrestle. McCreary Central only has six wrestlers that puts them at a disadvantage. I really feel as if Henry Clay dominates.

In my opinion Johnson Central wins the region and the three region 7 transplants battle for 2nd place. Team Race Johnson Central Bourbon Co. Montgomery Co. Harrison Co. Sheldon Clark Ashland/Belfry Perry Central Letcher Central I don't think Jenkins/Harlan Co. and Prestonsburg have teams this year or East Ridge for that matter. Pike Central will take a couple of kids, I know Phelps and Boyd Co. are new so I don't know much about them. Good Luck to all.

I think Bourbon Co. will win 3/4 weight classes. Josh Jude v. Alex Wright should be a battle at 145. I think Wright beat him in a barn burner earlier this year. I also think Harrison Co., might sneak in there and take a couple as well.

As a fan of wrestling, thank you for letting us know. It looks like a really competitive tournament. Looking forward to 126 finals and 160 finals. Emir Bernabe vs. Branson Scott in round 2 looks like a good one. Josh Morris v. Sam Gnadinger in round 2 also.

What events will be held this weekend? North Oldham Mustang Classic Lexington City Tournament Yellowjacket Tournament @Woodford Co. I believe Conner is hosting this weekend as well. Any others? It looks like Capitol City is rescheduled for this weekend also, along with JV State.

There are many others on the fringes that could place as well: Horton-Station, Platt-Conner, Butcher/Niece-Johnson Central, Shaffer-Ohio Co., Jorstad-Ft. Campbell, Whaley-Moore, Sheridan-St. Xavier, Vinegar-Manual, Davis-South Oldham, Fow-Male, Kennaday-Caldwell Co. There are also a few unknowns/surprises that always creep up at regions also. Heavyweight is a funny weightclass sometimes as all it takes is one mistake and there is no way you are bridging a 285lb human off of you. If I was going to pick a completely off of the radar heavyweight to place this year a couple of names to watch are Williams from Harrison Co., he's improved every week and would Trinity consider replicating the same formula with Corolla that worked with Bryant.
