Maybe so and I like your idea, however, it was the team they put on the mat and they won. I take nothing away from them. With that said, if you or anyone else for that matter, would like to put a travel club team together outside of the season, I'm sure our hammers from WV would love the compete on it.
-
Thanks Coach Donnelly. Great tourney as it is every year. Ran very well and out after five duals with the sun still up. I don't see anyone in KY beating a very solid IN Outlaws Gold team. Solid top to bottom even without one of our kids in the lineup. We threw everything we could at them.

Coaches,
This is a last ditch effort to try and get you to get all of your coaches cards, CPR certification and saftey modules turned in to Adam Lantman. He has processed 35 today and we still don't have one coach for every team. I would hate to have to explain that to my wrestler and a parent that they or their child can't compete in Dist, Reg or State because you can't get this information in. Tomorrow is that last possible moment to get everything in to be eligible for competition.
*USA Wrestling Coaches Card
*KHSAA Safety Modules - online
*Current CPR certification - this can be done online
Email Adam directly with the information at lantmana@yahoo.com.
Thank you for your help with this matter.

A BIG Thank You goes out to all of the teams, volunteers and officials that made the 2016 MS Bearcat Brawl a success. We saw some high level wrestling and the competition was as strong as we've had in past years. We started on time and finished in record time...for the Brawl that is. A huge thank you goes out to John Roth, Jason Moore and Jason Brown for setting the tournament up and keeping us on schedule. Trackwrestling was great without problems there. Coaches, please keep us in mind for next year as you start planning for next season.
Great job Golden Cross for pulling out the win in the end!!

The Indiana wrestling gods are sounding a lot like the Ohio wrestling gods....can't let those tractor driving, hill jack KY boys win in our state. They only have 98 schools that wrestle and we have over 1000. Bahahahahahaha

-
Action coming up very soon. I'm excited to see how many KY boys get to the semi's and if they can pull off some wins against Graham.
-
I second Ranger's comment Jason. Your tournaments are great and our kids enjoy the competition. Well worth the over night stay and drive for us.
Holding you to your preview....or atleast my kids.

Who's had the biggest upset so far?
-
Wow! That is so sad. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Coming from a coach of 25 yrs plus and just an observer of the Davis vs Mulcahy matchup. To accuse another coach of targeting a kids injury is absurd! I' m pretty sure of the 7 points scored by Mulcahy one was a double leg takedown, the other two were slideby duck unders and one escape. Both duck unders ,right hand on neck left hand on Davis right wrist. And the same position for the double leg. Believe Davis has a injured left wrist . Don't consider that attacking a kids injury. As for how Davis could've beaten This scrawny little eight grader if he was healthy is like saying Mulcahy could have beaten Spahr if he could've had more time to train and was able to bench 300 lbs. I give credit where credit is due. Walton coaches are doing an incredible job of teaching the art of wrestling! Not to muscle an opponent but to actually out wrestle them. Every opponent is different therefore you must find their weakness. Mulcahy was told to wrestle the legs and stay away from these guys upper body strength. He did that and scored the necessary points to win. You win in the state finals 1-0 or you win by a pin. You are still State Champion! Good luck to all region 6 qualifiers this weekend.
Well said and great synopsis of the match, but you can't talk Mr. Anon out of his bet now.
-
The ms has done this the last 2 years with no issues (to my knowledge). We have a conference call the Sunday or Monday night after region. This year the call lasted less than 2 hrs. (Including delays for background noise and waiting for all the beeps to stop as folks dial in and doing a roll call). It's not really all that hard. We have about 90% participation rate. The couple of coaches who don't participate just have their kids thrown in unless another coach has information to share. Actually, it would be easier for HS because of all the information on track.
Or a coach has you on the line to do it for them.
-
you read what I said wrong bud. I said davis couldn't connect a tight waste cause of his fracture and he couldnt get a cratle either because of his fracture. Also DAVIS has only been wrestling for 3 years and being able to get 5th at regionals with a fractured hand is impressive. He didn't have a good match neither plus the kid was targeting his fracture. And it wasn't a matter of cardio being the problem as much as his energy level. I would bet money if they face next year when davis is healthy he will tech or pin him easily.
lol Im not from cooper I just like to watch wrestling.
What's a tight waste or a cratle? Sorry, had to do it. Not his cardio, but his energy level....don't they go together? C'mon man!
I'll take you're bet that Davis will pin or tech Mulcahy easily next year. PM me and we can set the over and under on time as well. Let's make it double or nothing if the reverse happens.
I'll give it to Davis wrestling injured. That's tough and I like the kid. I'm sure he doesn't need you to put a target on his back either.
-
So a wrestler with a fractured wrist is not going to affect his wrestling? So if that is the case why did the WV coach keep telling Mulachy to go for that wrist? You most not understand how important a wrestler's grip is to them. You may want to learn more about wrestling then.
You're so very right. I have a lot to learn about wrestling.
-
To be honest with you yes I do. Davis having the fractured wrist made it hard to grip for him and he couldn't get any tight waist. I also believe that he wasn't wrestling to his potential, his cardio just pooped. I think he could have beaten him with a fractured wrist if he wrestled like he did the first day beating Barrie 12-3 and Holt 10-3. I hope they get a rematch next year at some point because I think that DavIs will beat him easily when he's healthy.
You just made me laugh. He lost to Mulcahy because of a tight waist and not being in shape? You think he will beat him easily if he can get a "tight waist"? You realize he's a middle schooler that only wrestles for 4.5 min matches and Davis wrestled 6 min matches all season. Cardio? That's funny. Sounds like you're making excuses for Davis...to be honest.
-
Just not sure, why it can't be done. I thought wrestling involved doing things that may be difficult and tough to get better. Obviously, this would make the tournament better. You will always be where you are unless you change.
-
Mulachy (8th Grader from WV) did upset Davis to get to the 3rd/4th round but Davis didn't have his best match plus he had a fractured wrist. Without the fracture the match would have been a lot different.
So, are you saying that Davis would have beaten Mulcahy if it wasn't for his fractured wrist?

A big thank you to all of the teams that competed in this years Bearcat Brawl. The competition and level of wrestling did not disappoint. We had exceptional matches from the very beginning. As you can see, the team race was very close with Walton Verona winning by criteria against an exception Union County team. ( 4 Champs and 24 pins vs 1 Champ and 21 pins). With each round, the top teams changed hands over and over. What a great day of wrestling.
MOW light weights went to 75lb Spencer Moore and MOW upper weights went to Blake Boarman. You will see these two individuals lighting up the college scene in the years to come.
Thank you to Jason Moore and John Roth along with all of the parents, coaches, friends and family that helped put the tourney together. We could not have done with without you. Thank you to all of our sponsors as well.
