Look who made the top twenty in each weight class. Two KY boys made it! http://www.flowrestling.org/page/Flo-Rankings
-
BL -Sorry, that was just an aside.
-
BL - that is a tough one to swallow, but I do understand your position on the matter and you have to do what you feel is appropriate for you and your family. Hopefully, with time all wounds can be healed.
-
I think we all will talk about it a lot more, but you and GOO pretty much wrapped up the "why does it take so long" for me. Very good points and it makes very good sense.
-
You're still taking this whole thing that happened last season very hard, aren't you?
-
Can't you get someone at CCHS to hold one?
-
Mpire- I will have to say that Stephen put on a very fast show and that I wanted to see more of. He flat out handled those boys and I don't think anyone that reads this site will challenge that. I had to go back and look at vidoes to see exactly what he hit and I was amazed every time I watched it. He is a "Phenom" and the other boys in his weight class don't train harder than he is, they will get hammered again. I am not on the bandwagon, just impressed by the way he wrestles and handles himself on and off the mat.

goo - fair enough. A little insensitive on my part.

I see that as as one of the best ideas I've heard yet. Raise money to help start and grow new programs. I don't think it has to be just for smaller programs though. Help...with :"criteria" and not just hand a mat (used or new) to anyone who says they want to start a team. That would be rediculous. Make the person(s) who want to start a team have some skin in the game and have to prove it.

Why do things take so long to get moving? Why wait until 2013-2014 if things need to be changed now?
-
Region 6 is stacked and it will definitely be interesting to see how things play out this season and watch the kids compete. One thing is for certain in Region 6....some good wrestlers are going to be left at home because they couldn't break the top four in their own region where they would easily make it in others.

North Oldham Loses Three Middle School State Champs

GOO and YNSS - Really? Do away with team championships in HS Wrestling? C'mon man. That's pushing it a little far. Going back to the beginning of Olympic times we had teams or countries that win titles. I could see it in youth, but in HS....No Way!!! -
dutch - I don't think you can count Ryle or WV out either, but the teams to beat this year have to be Union, SK and CC, not in any particular order. I think Ryle and WV will be in the top ten given the experience that the kids are gaining, but will they have 7 or 8 placers and a champ or two mixed in there that will put them over the top to make it into the top 5?
-
Pretty simple...unless someone gets injured, becomes ineligible....or eligible: Union, Simon Kenton and Campbell Co. Those three teams are going to battle it out for the top spot. Everyone else will be playing catch up.
-
This is still amusing to say the least and to have so much attention being put to youth wrestling in June...is awesome! Keep talking it up and growing the sport. We only have 250 more high schools to start wrestling in KY to catch up with Ohio.
-
raidercoach and tiltfor3 - I appreciate your help with trying to guide me and my son in the right direction. I currently live in NKY and just hope my son shares the same passion and exhuberance for the sport that we all have...or learn to have. I have a pretty good idea of what program(s) I will start my son out in. Thanks for your help.
-
dutch - now that is something I haven't seen in a long time. A coach and a parent, publically thanking all of the people that have helped his son, just in this offseason alone. He's being modest because I know for a fact you are the number one supporter of your son. Not saying that everyone needs to take this same approach, but just look at all of the different people he and his son have come into contact with that are helping out....just this offseason alone. Very impressive. Class act! Like I said before....don't be surprised when you see them on the top of many podiums when the season rolls around.
-
Wow! This has turned into entertainment for the masses.
-
Dutch...just calling it like i see it, hear it and read it. Yes, Coach Moore's passion has been amazing for the growth of the sport in this state and I hope he continues his reign because we could all utilize more of what he has. You have to beat the best to be the best and when you can't, train with them...they will make you better.
-
So, after all of this debate back and forth....where should I send my youngest son who is 4 years old to wrestle?
-
No problem dutch. Just looking out for you all. Just to put this out there for anyone who will read this....if you are a parent of a kid who loves to wrestle and wants to get better, you might want to pm dutch and the guys he is coaching with because they have definitely put in the time and effort with their boys and put in a lot of mat time this spring/summer. Since February (after the State Tournament) the boys have wrestled and equivavlent of 2 full MS seasons. Just a thought. Don't be surprised when you see their boys at the top of many podiums when the season rolls around. Champions are made in the off season...What are your kids doing to get better.
-
Just read on Yappi that this tourney was cancelled. I'm not the source, but dutch, you may want to double check.
-
. Love it! Let's see if it catches on.
-
Not sure if the issue is how it is named.
