So what is next?

Plantmanky1 - I feel your frustration and that is why the Bearcat Brawl does not allow bumping up after weigh ins and we don't have a seeding meeting and opted for seeding based on criteria. We have cut the time to wrestle from weigh ins signifigantly and only had minimal changes due to scratches. Coach Roth stayed on the Coaches for their rosters and they were great at letting us know the changes that they had to make. We openly communicated with all of the coaches our expectations and I think we were able to get the 24 man brackets completed with minimal delays. Our goal is to have the most competetive event that KY hosts year in and year out. We seek the best competition and we want them to want to come back each year. Reducing the down time is key. Cbender - No face offs, short breaks, and placement matches on all mats. We try to think of as many time saving items as we can. It is a long day, but hopefully, the product is well worth it. I think the only thing that might save time, that may or may not go over well, is giving the kids their medals after the medal match and not having them stand on the podium. Might take away from the tourney...who knows.

Last time I checked the Ryle and Campbell county programs are not urban programs.

Tweet from Jason Frakes (Courier Journal)

Floridafan ---come on really. Last time I checked Ranger isn't paid by anyone to post or do rankings. I can't imagine that running the KSWA and just finishing up the mState tourney or running his own team....state champs I might add , his family and work duties would have anything to do with not updating results. Or...could it be that he's tired of reading the crap that people give him for doing what everyone else can do themselves if they do choose to do so. Get over yourself. If you want rankings...do us all a favor and post them. This is a public site. Have fun!!

I second that motion Keith. Some people just don't realize how good things really are.

    So what is next?

I think your post is right on. Unfortunately, if you can't afford a sport then find a way to make it happen. If not, find another sport. I think many sports are amazing, but some are not attainable for me...ie sky diving, car racing ect. That's why my family doesnt do them. Just saying.

The singlets and newly redesigned medals were top notch. Nice touch!

There are exceptions to everything. I do agree with raidercoach...it should be up to the kid, parent and coach. IMO...if it were my kid, and he or she were that good at wrestling...I would sit them out. But, everyone should have that choice and not be bashed for making the choice that is best for them.

    So what is next?

I would add that most likely the kid that placed 2nd or 4th at MS State, probably already has one...if not more than one, Youth State title. What would they have to prove to himself? I applaude the kids, parents and coaches that realize the kids need to wrestle to the competition that will push the kid, once that has past....move on. Did you see Mark Hall wrestle MS State when he as at Ryle? Nope, but everyone knows he would have won a MS State Title though. He had bigger fish to fry. The Lawson's have bigger fish to fry. I commend them for that. Move up and move on.

You are probably right, but that's why the KSWA is insured through USAW. I am kind of curious though....how many matches do kids wrestle in Cadet/Juniors FS/GR at Fargo in a day or even at the big state FS/GR tournaments? More than 5? To double? Just curious. I agree. I voted the same way.

I'm aware of NFHS and what they do. Appears you are turning to constructive responses and it's much appreciated rather than the reverse. It appears that the KSWA doesn't agree with the NFHS and voted to go with USA Wrestling to alleviate the 5 match rule issue.

IMO, there are ways of expressing ones opinion that are thoughtful and helpful to a cause rather than trying to undermine the very thing that people have worked so hard to build. Just saying.

No well founded research on the whole 5/6 match rule? Ah, so now I see....you're an ex-DI wrestler. That proves that everyone should agree with you or you have all the answers. Well said. I bet you never wrestled more than 4 matches back in your day. Oh, that's right....you didn't have to, you won all 4 and every title in a 16 man bracket and never had to wrestle your ass off for that 6th match to medal. Darn, I'm suprised that type of whinning would come from an ex-DI wrestler. I don't have to put my accolades on this site to justify my involvement in this sport in KY. I do it the right way without trying to discredit the hard work of a very select group of hardworking individuals do on this site. If you want to be involved, try not being a toolbar...as you say and get involved. Nobody owes anybody anything. There's my opinion...if you don't like it, as you say...tough.

    Region 6 predictions

Let me know if you get a reply, text, vm, pm or whatever. I'm still waiting to see if he's going to run for KSWA President. Not holding my breath and you might not want to as well.

I'd like to see your research on why 5 or 6 matches is not good for children. IMO..if your kid can't wrestle 5-6 matches (36 mins max, with OT)in a 12+ hour day, then you right....your kid probably doesn't need to be wrestling because he can't handlle what it takes to be a great wrestler. Your kid wouldn't make it at our practices...for sure. There are many other sports that are different than wrestling that I'm sure your kid would be great at. I appreciate well founded comments and the sarcastic ones just as much as the next person, but come on. Let's see the research rather than random idiotic posts that seem to be the norm from you.

Congrats Brady Wells and Tanner Yenter

Congrats guys!!!! You definitely have shown how to win with humility and grace. Awesome job! I'm sure your families are very proud.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Get well soon, so we can have another discussion on how to get these kids together to wrestle in the off season.

Nkawtg135 - you sound like a little kid that got his/her feelings hurt. If you have ref'd, coached, wrestled than you know getting involved the right way is better that complaining the way you do. Just saying. In wrestling....we don't accept excuses.

IWIN - I'm guessing you're going to put your money where your mouth is and put you name in the hat for the next KSWA President position? Can you do us all a favor and put your real name out here for all of us and your credentials along with what you have done to promote the sport of wrestling in KY or any state for that matter. I want to see if you are in this to really help MS wrestling or just someone who got there feelings hurt and can't find anyone else that will listen to them. Put up or shut up....as they say.

Who doesn't know Govenor Barnes? JK . I think you all are off. I will put my two cents in and say with high conviction the new coach at Cov Cath is going to be Dave Johnson from Ryle.

Top 8 in every weight class

There's a very strong contender for runner up in Region 6 at 152 unless he draws Stephen early which I hope he doesn't but you heardit here first. Introducing to the high school scene weighing 153 lbs from Boone County Dru Shoroer already a 6-2 record with 2 3rd place finishes and both losses came from A state contender from Indiana and Kegan Agnew whose pretty darn good in his own right. I was reading back on a few posts and found this. Glad to hear that he's back. He should have never left. I hope he has time to get in wrestling shape. It will be nice seeing him on the mat.
