Here you go: HB 327, which would also permit schools to hire qualified coaches who are not certified to teach or perform other certified school duties, is now before the governor for his signature. If you can shake some trees I would get them shaking....

We also passed House Bill 327, another school-related bill, by a unanimous vote of 97-0. This legislation would address a growing concern about the shortage of assistant coaches for high schools and middle schools. In the past, teachers have been hired with the agreement that they would coach a sport, but as more teachers have retired those positions have been filled by good teachers who do not want to coach. Current Kentucky law requires that coaches have a college degree, but House Bill 327 would allow the Kentucky Board of Education to hire a non-certified person as a coach as long as that person completes a professional development course offered by the state board. This bill supports our schools

Ohio State / Northwestern @ Montgomery County
Indians40 replied to Indians40's topic in Events & Marketplace
It is getting better, it now looks like it will be Ohio State, Northwestern, Virginia Tech and someone else. Unfortunately NAIA national qualifiers are on the 19th or we could have had a Kentucky team in it as well. Right now that was the only date I could get. -
Ohio State will Dual Northwestern in the Montgomery County Arena February 20th 2011 beginning @ 2:00PM. Additional details will be posted later. Coach Sutphin Montgomery County Middle School Head Wrestling Coach

The top teams are where they are for a reason. I do believe though that we have several young programs across the state that given 2 - 3 years will begin to gain ground on current programs. If you look at the youth and middle school programs you still see the top programs but you also see others gaining ground. Again, I believe the top programs will remain dominant in many ways for years to come.

LOL....I am from Northern Ohio and have no idea what you just said....LOL. DBW.....Austin knows his match against Joe could have gone either way. His comment after the match was "He is extremely strong". I believe this bracket is going to be exciting to watch all the way around. Whoever wins it gets my vote for MOW. Coach Sutphin

You heard right, AJ did beat Austin. He beat him again @ the Big Brother duals 4-2 in a great match. I also agree that there are 6 - 8 kids in the 82lb weight class that could win this bracket. One or two on the other side of the bracket that haven't been mentioned yet. Coach Sutphin

I would also like to say that Austin Sutphin the 11 year old boy you are speaking of already respects every opponent he may or may not face at the state tournament. That is what I teach him since I am his dad and coach. Coach Sutphin Montgomery County Wrestling

I am sure Austin Sutphin the boy being mentioned by you will also be very motivated from your statement. Best of luck to all

Nice post Ranger, I agree with you 100%, all of these kids, their parents and coaches should be proud of what they have accomplished. To qualify for middle school state means quite a bit. Regardless of what happens at the state tournament next weekend all of these young wrestlers will be fun to watch as they filter into the high school level. Best of luck to everyone next week.
