    Donated Wrestling items

Hello I am the team mom for Conner Youth,Middle School wrestling. I am working on collecting used wrestling items for the youth in Ky. The way it will work is I will set up drop off areas all over Ky. When a wrestler/club/team needs something I will get an email and hopefully send out whatever it is and the only cost to the club/team/indiv. is the shipping. This is a way for kids who normally can't afford shoes or even a singlet to have what they need. If interested let me know. Looking for clubs to be a drop off in your area. This will be a slow process and hopefully will grow over time. Ohio and Michigan do this also and I spoke to a lady(Ohio) who helps with there program and it works for them ,wanting it to do the same for KY. So my email is barbarawolnitzek@fuse.net Thank you BBB

    UPDATED YOUTH WRESTLING BYLAWS

Hello Coaches, I am hosting a meeting for discussion of the bylaws on May 11. The location is 7150 Houston Road, Florence, KY 41042, (859) 371-9010 | phone, (859) 371-9020 | fax. It will be held in the conference room starting at 7pm and ending no later than 9pm. Meeting minutes will be posted as soon as possible for everyone to review prior to vote date. I am inviting all NKY youth wrestling clubs to send someone to this meeting to review and discuss the proposed Bylaws. I ask that everyone make an attempt to attend this meeting and give their input. The actual meeting to vote is scheduled for the following week, so this may be your last opportunity to have input prior to implementing the new regulations. If your club is unable to attend or you are out of the NKY region, please forward your vote for or against each bylaw to me via email to, barbarawolnitzek@fuse.net You can also use this forum to do so prior to May 11 to be considered in the discussion. Please identify your team affiliation and give any details you wish. If you and your wrestler are independent, fill free to post your input here as well. Thank you, Franklin Wolnitzek NKY Regional Rep

Post them ASAP, I will collect them and make sure that the responsible parties have the details. Please be specific, I am not familiar with everyone. Give your name, affiliation, region, club, the bylaw number and issue. Post them here and I will have feedback. The door is open. Franklin Wolnitzek Regional Rep NKY.

    Tournament of Champions

There were several Cougar youth wrestlers that attended the Tournament of champions in Columbus Ohio. Unfortunately 3 of four were eliminated in the early rounds. We did have one of our young men take All American. Darien Wolnitzek placed 3rd in the Jr. 165lb class! All the wrestlers represented themselves very well! Coach Franklin

    2007 Elementary State

How big was that facility that they used? One day hopefully KY will have that many kids at a state tourney. Did they do it in sessions? How long was you there in all? Thank You inadvanced. :-D

    2007 Elementary State

Calling 350 kids down in groups would not work. Having brackets posted with mat assignments is the way to go. Every wrestler will no where they are and parents no where to set up the fan club. Wrestling is not easy to organize and as you attend tournaments in the future you will learn that this State event at Conner was done very well.

we should follow in their footsteps-MYWA

WOW, I just got the time to look it over. The website is awesome! Check it out coaches. They could help us grow in KY with the guidelines thaey have already laid out .
  19. I will be participating at the meeting for coaches March 2. One thing is for sure and I know this did not work out this year, but we have to have regional competitions prior to the state going forward in 2008. Youth wrestling has grown into more than just a handful of clubs and there are just too many kids to ignore that fact. Hosting one event eliminates to many of the potential wrestlers that would have competed. (No one wants to drive border to border, do overnights in some cases, or have the chance that their wrestler gets knocked out early. Or do all that to find an unorganized event being planned by the seat of the pants. The first state tournament was a good example. The hosting school simply did not have the resources needed to handle the level of participating wrestlers that attended. Due to that experience I did not take my team to last years state tournament fearing the same problem would occur. Youth programs are harmed by poorly administered events and it is not worth the risk. Guidelines need to be established for schools wanting to host the event for having the required resources. Additionally, the elected president has truly let everyone down on this. I have yet to see an official reply to any of the post made on the tournament issue from him directly. Jim Matney, are you out there? Do you have visibility to our problem? What do you think on 2 tournaments for state title in KY youth? Will you be attending the coaches meeting at Conner March 2? Are you planning on pulling the coaches together to iron out the challenges ahead for 2008? When and where, how do we get intouch? Thanks, Coach Frank
