Christian County grabbed wins against Evansville, Daviess County, Trigg County and South Spencer, Ind. J.J. Killebrew (112 and 119 pounds), Kory Polley (135) and Nick White (171) all finished 5-0 on the day for the Colonels. Asa Odoms (103) and Zeb White (215) both had 4-1 efforts for Christian County, while Marlon Pate (285) went 4-0. The Colonels will take to the mats again Thursday at home against Hopkinsville.

But recently, the middle weight wrestlers have started to flex their muscles and this past weekend were a major reason why the Hawks beat sixth ranked Union County, 39-26 and helped the team go 4-0 on Saturday. The Hawks whipped Boone County (78-6), South Oldham (70-10) and Louisville Moore (70-6). LaRue County beat Union County, 36-23 in the third round of the 12-team duals at Bruin Gym, and Paden feels the win will go a long way for the Hawks.

John Austin Coulter and Rhodes Bell of Danville each won two matches in two different weight classes. Coulter pinned a Bryan Station opponent at 125 pounds, then moved up to 130 pounds to pin a Lafayette wrestler, while Bell won by technical fall over a Bryan Station foe at 152, then won a major decision over a Lafayette opponent at 160. Ean Daly (103) and Cody Wade (145) of Boyle each defeated a Lafayette opponent on points and a Bryan Station foe by forfeit, while Zac Lynch needed only 16 seconds to pin a Bryan Station wrestler at 215. Coming out victorious in the meet, the Braves defeated Mt. Carmel 59-21 with several individual wrestlers having good showings. Results are as follows: In the 103-lb. division, Brock Ervin pinned his opponent in 1:12 while Jeff Wurth (112-lb. division) pinned his in 1:06. Gabe Ervin (119-lb. class) pinned Shoemaker in 1:52, Caleb Wolfe (125-lb. class) pinned his opponent in 1:56 and Keaton Thomas (130-lb. class) pinned Houct in 3:06. In the 135-lb. class, Justin Garrett lost a battle 9-4 while Caleb Ervin (140-lb. class) won by a forfeit. Kenneth Brummett (145-lb. class) pinned his opponent in 3:15 while Jake Risinger (152-lb. class) pinned his in 1:59. In the 160-lb. class, Spencer Hulette pinned Wampler in 3:02 while Thomas Buckman (171-lb. class) teched his opponent with a score 17-2. For both the 189 and 215 weight classes, the Braves forfeited. Brandon Nesbit, a first year wrestler, was pinned by his opponent in the heavyweight division. The Braves will be wrestling Mater Dei tonight (Wednesday 29, 2009), the second day of a two-day tournament that started on Tuesday. Wrestling will begin this morning at 8:30 a.m. with finals around 3 p.m. The Braves will then be in action on Jan. 2 when they take part in the Central Hardin Duals followed by a home meet on Jan. 7 when they host Caldwell County.
