  1. Tre and Blue (Daniel) were 2 of the closest things we had to sure wins. But their effect on team chemistry was null at best, severely negative at worst. Tre was made a captain, yet did virtually nothing to help the team work together for everyone's improvement. Blue was just the non-talking type. The return of Robbie Sahms though is alot bigger and I think virtually wipes away any effect of Tre's loss. Robbie has beaten far better people then Tre did in his short career, both marred by injury though.

Tre's father is retiring I think, and was going to accept a job in either California or Colorado. Last I heard Tre was moving to California

Blue's father just got orders to go to Virginia, I think we are losing 2 more wrestlers there too

    Norfolk?

  2. I know that this conversation has been held time after time about the degree of talent and whatnot between divisions; and I wish him all the best of luck anywhere he goes, but man, I wish Harrison Courtney would have went D1. I would have loved to have been able to cheer for him wrestling in an IU singlet. But I will be cheering for him no matter what singlet he has on.

From what Dee was telling me they will probably be going to a tournament where IU will be there. I laughed because he would have to wrestle Escabedo lol

  3. Hey, your intelligence level might get you to be president.  I mean if Dubya can do it, anyone can.

That's not the first time that your antics have been called out and you went straight to insulting someone's intelligence. Could it be the fact your insecure about your own intelligence? I'll let you decide that one. Here is some advice though (from someone who is way below your level of intelligence) just chill out.

  4. I don't think most people on this site are haters, especially against Metcalf, but most of us would probably like to see Kyle beat him.

I never said people on this site are haters... I don't just get on here... and second I would love to see Kyle beat him, I just don't think Kyle is on his level of intensity yet. Other than that Kyle is right up there with Metcalf. If he can control the pace and slow Metcalf's intensity he has a very legit chance. As for the haters I was referring to the people like on flowrestling like the Palmers who said it made their day to see Metcalf lose. Not singling out the Palmers but their were many people who didn't care who beat Metcalf they just wanted to see him lose. Yes those are called haters. Metcalf is the defintion of working hard and intensity he just did not bring his A game that last match. I'm not hating on Caldwell I actually congradulate him it takes guts to wrestle that fearless, but I hate to see people love to see someone lose rather than love to see someone win, a lot of times this happens with Woodford kids. You know what I mean? It's like they are saying it's bad to have a role model who works hard and brings intensity.

  5. Right. Now anyone has a chance to beat him. I think he will come out next year with a goal to destroy everyone and everything. He's probably lifting or doing something as we read and type.

People have been gunning at him. It's just haters that want to see him lose because if there is one thing a hater cannot stand it's a winner lol

  6. Well when you've been wrestling as long as he has at the level he's been performing at you develop a confidence that is almost unshakable.  He had simply been through that situation before and come out on top so he wasn't worried, just knew he had to keep wrestling the whole match.  See the finals match against Banks his freshman year.

Give credit to Jake Lee though for getting the takedown.  Even though Harrison is better on the mat that doesn't mean he's no good on his feet.  I've wrestled with both and although Harrison is the better wrestler Jake is pretty good, as indicated by his finals performance.

Most wrestlers haven't been in that situation before. I always think back to Travis Sullivan being in the same situation. It's so easy just to loose yourself in the moment that it really takes discipline to overcome that obstacle.

  7. when did i say it wouldn't be a good match. where ,show me. it would be the match of the year putting the Osbourne vs Zarth finals match to shame. two titans battling it out would be amazing. the argument im making is that at the end of the 6 mins (provinding someone doesnt get stuck, and its not a consolation match :-D) harrison would have more points on the board. I see what you mean about how like people are saying that harry would win 19-20 times, and that might not be true, a little exagerated, it would not be that big of a domination. but its home cookin, i think harry would win and thats all i have to say about this subject.

Well when you pointed out Harrison's dedication it led me to believe that you though HC would smash John. That's my bad. I do think it would be a good match, I think HC would come out on top the majority of the time though. He just knows how to pull out the win. Ie. freshman year he beat Banks at OCSD, then lost to him at State Duals am I correct?, then when it really mattered he beat him again. So it goes to show even if John beat him the first time HC will most likely be the one to prevail. I don't think it will be a high scoring match though, both wrestlers know how to conserve their energy and most likely won't try many risky moves.

  8. OK. The 45 minute rule is of little concern.  Most tourneys have that much time in between matches naturally.  There is no need to change this rule.  I believe it gives kids just enough time to allow their bodies to recuperate.  Mostly re-hydrating their body, and allowing them time to digest that water.

This is also not a state rule.  Since it is something that is being considered by our state and not the Wrestling Federation the only thing it can be is.

Allowing coaches to coach their wrestlers after the season is over.  It may only pertain to large tourneys such as nationals and such.  This can be a huge jump for Ky even with these restrictions.

changing the 45 minute rule or the 5-match rule has to come from the Federation.

Personally I would like the 5-match rule modified.  Maybe allowing a kid to wrestle 15 periods in a day.  Therefore if he wrestled 5 tough matches he is done after 5 matches.  If he receives a forfeit he can still wrestle 5 more matches.  I would recommend this rule and state that a wrestler must have at least 3 periods of eligibility to be allowed to wrestle the next match.

5 Match rule idea sounds great.

  9. From what I have heard you will most likely not see Scott co. start a wrestling team as long as the football coach is the athletic director. Apparently he's anti-wrestling.

That's sad. Our old athletic director Jim Perrin actually started the wrestling program at County and put 30 some odd years into it. I only wrestled one year (7th grade) under him but he was pretty cool. Our newest athletic director just bought us two new flexi roll mats last year because our mats from before that were from the 70's  :-P

  10. Ky10,

I didn't know Wolisefer personally. I just call it how I see it. While Johny was wrestling, I think after his second title he was very dedicated. I'm sure he was practicing during those weeks in the off season as well. I'm not questioning HC's conditioning, but you can't tell me when John was dedicated ( I think he peaked out his junior year so I'll say then) versus a 160 HC wouldn't be a good match. They both weren't cutting that much weight, they are very similar in many ways I just cannot see how either one could dominate each other like some people are saying.

  11. Well I think Johny only lost like one match his last two years if I'm correct. Johny vs. Courtney would be a legit match I think if anyone would give Courtney a match it would be him or Mitch. I mean I consider all of these guys to be on the same level because you see how dedicated there were even during the offseason. Johny I saw at an offseason tournament almost every weekend up in indiana ect. Mitch had a whole wrestling facility so I'm sure he had no trouble working during the offseason  Courtney of course probably works his tail off during the off season as well. All three hard working athletes with great technique, all had good conditioning, great talent, and the heart to win. That's why there is 8 state championships between the three of them. I'd pay to see these guys go at it, too bad Mitch is broken, Johny's probably out of shape which leaves Courtney left to win by default haha (Just a joke guys)

  12. I also think they should change the 45 min. rule into a 15 min. rule.  Wrestlers should be able to get their energy/wind back in 15 min.  If they cannot, maybe they need to think about:  a) losing less weight! B) training harder.

There is a problem with this. Liability.

It's because of the past that regulations are in place now.

Btw, I don't love all the rules personally, but the intent of them is with the wrestlers best interest at heart.

The 45 min. rule didn't really come into play at most of the tournaments that I went to. It took a lot longer than 45 min. to go through a round. At state is the only place I can think of it comes into play but come on we wrestle to like 11 or 12 on the 2nd day how much longer do you want to wrestle? Also the third day it would probably only save you one to two hours at most, I'd rather take those one to two hours and have kids recooperate and feel fresh for their final match of the season. Just my take on the 45 min. thing it wouldn't really change much.
