  1. It is very sad to see that Austin's dad has to live vicariously thru his son.  I can imagine the embarrassment Austin must feel every time his dad goes off the deep edge. The accomplishments Austin has are his own.  Yes, his dad did train him, but the accomplishments are Austin's alone and Dad needs to realize that.  He obviously will attack my comment, but Dad needs to let go.  No one one here doubts that Austin is a great wrestler.  No one has ever said anything differently.  Try being low-key, Dad. Quit attacking everyone on here. We all want our kids to do well.

  2. The Kentucky teams came home with 4 individual champions

125 - Lee  from the University of the Cumberlands

133 - Sinkovics from the University of the Cumberlands

149 - Tessari  from Lindsey Wilson

    184 - Sharon from Campbellsville

There were several others from the KY Colleges that earned AA Status too.

Just checking to see if these are the official rankings. Logan Johnson 285 Montgomery County is ranked 14th has finished 1st or 2nd in every tournament he's entered this year. Only loses have been to Justice from Madison County twice, but has beat #4 and others that are ranked ahead of him. I'm not concerned at this time but this will effect seeding at state tournament. Thanks for any information given on this process.

We are just getting into the heart of the season.  As they wrestle more matches the rankings will look different later in the season.  Don't take the rankings to heart.  They are for fun and prompt discussion.

After missing last year without a kid competing in Danville, I was able to go back and coach a bunch of tough young guys at the national duals. Had a blast and got to meet and get to know our next group of upcoming studs. Coach Chapman did a great job working with the Red team keeping them motivated and fighting through 7 tough, tough duals. I hope the guys enjoyed the experience as much as I did and grow and learn from this event.

Just for reference here is the first group of boys I had the pleasure to coach at the MS National Duals:

    75 Blake Roth

    80 Ryan Moore

    85 Clint Chaffee

    90 Mason Smith

    95 Trent Johnson

    102 Jenkins

    110 Brady Emerson

    117 Bryan Spahr

    125 Angel Vasquez

    132 Dylan West

    140 Colin Coy

    150 Trey Downton

    175 Seamus Sallee

    195/220 Cole and Conner Sherman

i think those boys have done alright as high schoolers since 2012

Several of those boys who were 8th graders are now heading off to wrestle in college and the others will follow!

"NATURE BOY ONLY HAS ALLTECH   TO COMPARE STATE TOURNAMENTS WITH"

Kind of funny considering the whole thread is based on an Indiana finals match in comparison to Kentucky and my son's won youth and Jr high state titles in 3 organizations in Ohio youth titles in ky and my oldest came in 3rd as a fresh at the SCHOTT in Ohio in a class tougher than any ever in indy or ky and then Won in the SCHOTT as soph going undefeated all year .

I been to a few tournaments in my day lol.

Nature Boy, what I meant was that you had only experienced the state tournament in KENTUCKY at Alltech.  Geeze, get some hormones and calm yourself down!

  6. There was always a packed house at the Civic Center(Dungeon).  It was full of life and it didn't matter it you had nationally ranked kids wrestling or not.  Everyone picked some one and cheered for them.  I have to say one of the most exciting matches wrestled there was when Travis Sullivan lost  the finals his senior year. That place went wild. Nature Boy only has Alltech to compare state tournaments with.  There has to be some way to make finals as special as they use to be.  I don't think they have a spotlight to use at Alltech at all.  Maybe someone can remember from the first year at the Horse Park if they tired to use one or not.

I would be proud of him as well ,There are a lot of kids who do multiple sports who do not have his tools or capabilities and a lot are spiritual and many loved as well  with good gpas .As I said I enjoy talking to him he seems a great young man and I'm sure he is adept at numerous sports as many would be with his gifts .and I'm not Knocking his win or accomplishment

I know he is loved and everyone is proud of him as they should be .

BUT This is a wrestling forum ,Not track ,Not Football and not really a forum about ones beliefs or morals although they weigh in.Im talking about what could have been and what was expected .The heavys usually are Football players like Johnson last yr who won 2 .I just think everyone expected more of Young and he could have been a major player in the sport had he chose ,And I know a little about sports other than Wrestling My son competed against a national wrestling champ who now plays Football  for Army was a 3 X state wrestling champion 3 X national champ who competed internationally in track and field .so football and track are not really reasons for not reaching ones potential .To each their own it all depends on what you want and want most .Congrats he was the clear Champ this year .

I'm not quite sure what you wanted Landon to accomplish this year.  He reached the ultimate goal in Kentucky wrestling...BEING A STATE CHAMPION.  Also, being the caliber football player he is has been a great asset to his wrestling.

  8. Ok grasshopper, don't get yourself into a wad.  I wasn't being hostile.  You just took it that way.  I stated in the post that it was my opinion and it is just that, my opinion.  I was just pointing out that Union was the best team there Saturday.   I have been around this sport for a long while.  Union is always ready this time of year.  Their record proves it.

  9. North Oldham would have to be crazy to think they would beat Union.  Yes they have some good wrestlers, but they definitely don't have the caliber wrestlers that Union has.  In my opinion , NO's wrestlers are out of shape too.  Their coach constantly has to run to the scorers table to question a call or the score so his boys can get a breather.  I have witnessed this on several occasions when watching NO wrestle.  Union wasn't the better team there...they were the best team that day.  Go ahead and bash away, but this is my opinion.

You know who really cares where the location is set for the Duals. Last time I checked this thread is to discuss the talent going and individual predictions on which team may come out on top an why. So tired of always seeing bickering about this or that in all the threads posted. Waaa Waaa Waaa, now I understand why Ranger and Dutch are never on here anymore. Everyone needs to refocuse on the main reason why these threads are available. "It is to discus the Wrestling talent in the State and talent it produces". Basically to showcase our wrestlers not their "Parents or Coaches and even Fans" it about them not us....  If I was an outside individual looking in to our State threads I would think there is nothing but crying and bickering in KY.

If you even think about replying to this in a smart @$$ way don't even bother because you wont get my dragged into the petty he said or she said games.........  Lets move on already and discuss our wrestlers abilities and dedication to the sport of wresting! We owe it to them. They bust their butts everyday and hardly ever ask for anything but respect in return!

MIC DROPPED - Enough said and time to move on already!!!!!!

Amen!  I miss the discussions about the wrestlers that were on here the mid 2000's.

Just saw a story on Landon Young on the news committing to UK.  Wish he was still wrestling.  Good kid, good wrestler, good luck Landon!

Landon is still wrestling.  He just had to wait until after the Army game to participate.  Landon is an awesome young man.  He has a very bright future ahead of him!

  12. I feel bad for the teams hosting tournaments when it threatens snow.  So many times it is out of the coaches control as to have the tournament or not.  It leaves everyone who has been planning and making arrangements for food and drinks along with workers in limbo.  It can be a pretty helpless feeling when mother nature throws a curve ball.  Everyone repeat....It's not going to snow, It's not going to snow.......
