After combining the HS scores with the MS scores, Walton Verona came in first and Harrison Co. came in second.

Married, I wasn't saying that one kid made a great team. I was just pointing out that Harrison County should show great improvements in the next few years because of their youth program

I agree D1. Look at Harrison Co., they brought three to state and ended up with a state champion. They were down some this year but will be strong again in the near future. They have a great youth program that is going to bring them many great wrestlers in the next few years. You can't count someone out based on one years performance. Harrison Co. will have several make it to state in the next couple of years and beyond.

That should have said "watched the hands quite well".

Okay DW...I have sat and read all the comments about this tournament. I happened to be there all day. It was a large tournament and it was run very well. They had everything organized and were ready to go. They did run a little late but how were they to know that several kids would be scratched a few minutes before the start time. I have to say that the people at Harrison Co. have put on numerous tournaments since 1969 and they do a great job. I myself didn't see any parent run onto the mat. The only thing I did hear about was the coaches giving the officials a hard time. I know one official had to get the head official to come to the mat because of the unruly behavior of the coach. Now, in respect to the parents. Some parents are on the mat because there are too many wrestlers and not enough coaches. Therefore, they have to help coach. I am not saying any parent should rush the mat. This is not a perfect world DW and I don't think any of the official would have allowed any child to have his fingers broken on purpose. In fact, I think the official watched the had quite well. I saw numerous locking hand calls that afternoon. I know the state tournament will be great this year and everyone should support it with their whole heart. I don't think that the wrestlers will be in any danger and it is silly for parents to think that state will be any different from a normal tournament. The official will do their best to keep all the kids safe on the mat. And no, there should be no tolerance for parents rushing the mat just like Ranger said. DW just stop and take a breath and everything will be okay. You seem to be the one who is still in an uproar about this.

I think it was a well run tournament. You all did a great job preparing!

First PD, I don't want to "Dumb Down" the state tournament. I am just pointing out the fact that KY is still working out the bugs for the state tournament and that this isn't high school. They are children. I have an idea - let them be children and when they are in Middle School lets start treating them like the are adults. Everyone seem to be in such a hurry to make the elementary kids high school kids. Second, Pioneer Pride, I don't know Stan Martin personally, but I'm sure if you wanted to come to a coaches meeting he'd let you know when and where it is at. There are regional contacts for the parents and coaches to contact also. This not the only place to "vent" your concerns.

Mouse - This was all gone over last year (you can still read last years posts on page 9-10 I think) and had been hashed out again this year. Please read the threads and you will get everyone's opinion. There is no reason to drag this out of the closet again this year! All anyone wants to do is get the kids involved in wrestling and if this is how we have to do it then that's the way it is. If you want a single champon wrestle in another state. This is KY not Ohio, Michigan, etc. We have to do what is right for our state at this point. Maybe in 10-20 years down the road wrestling in KY will be big enough to have a mulitple day tourny with one single champion. Remember you have to walk before you can run. Congratuations to all the winners this year. Fern Creek did a great job hosting the tournament and it was run efficiently and ended at a reasonable time!
