  1. This is Derrick's dad. We had some bad news his doctor has said his wrestling career is over. He tried to come back from a back injury. He wrestled one match a couple of weeks ago and won but for several days later he was in pain. The doctor did another x ray and said thats it or risk permanent injury. I would like to thank Coach Haire at Doss for allowing derrick plenty of time to try to heal from this injury, he is a fine person and was a straight up guy thru out this whole ordeal. I am very proud of Derrick he has battle asthma, allergies, and a shoulder injury just to be ready for his senior year. During the summer he worked has hard as anyone wrestling and power lifting. He won a lot of power lifting tournaments and was set for wrestling his senior year. But as odd as it is,  it was the injury received at the Indiana Wrestling Camp and all the weight squatting and dead lifting during the powerlifting that did the job. As in Derrick's charactor he has taken all this in and said it's time to move on. He has great grades and is up for several scholarships for academics. He would like to go to college and become a history teacher and a wrestling coach. He will be at the regions cheering on Doss ,  his friends and teammates. We would also like to wish good luck to three of his friends BeBop, Pain, and Fuqua in the regions and may the best one win. Thanks for all the fun I have had the past four years.

  2. I hurt my back during a power lifting meet I was in. I am not cleared to wrestle yet. I have an appointment Monday at the Neurosurgical Institute of Kentucky and then see if I can wrestle or need surgery. BUT I plan on making it back as soon as possible. All the work I did this summer and the strength I have now I think this year was going to be a fun year. Especially working with Nickle and my good friend Bebop.  If it dosen't happen I will cheer on all the other 285's and wish them luck.

  3. The Brandon Wrestling team holds the national record for most consecutive wins by a high school sports team (423). This accomplishment is often referred to as "The Streak."[1][2] The team also boasts 18 Florida Team State Championships and over 100 state placers.[2] The state placers are listed on the west wall of the Brandon Wrestling Workout room by first initial, last name, followed by their place and the particular year they placed.[1]

  5. basically I agree with you. When I meant live wrestling I meant wrestling each other on the new moves. I have already learned a few new moves just from Coach Nickle I plan on using this summer after missing last year I need to brush up on some of the new moves you have learned and there is no other place to do it is when you teach them then we use them. I was just stating I want to learn as much during the practice and wrestle with them to see how it works on different people and run and condition on my own I don't want time from learning taken aay just to run in the small building

  6. Live wrestle is important but you can run on your own. The place is not big enough with all the people we have So instructions and live wrestle to me is the most important. Today is Saturday and I was up at  8:00 and ran 2 miles and plan on working out afternoon and the run again later For me since I missed last year I need to bone up on the basics again and get as much live wrestle as I can. Especially since Wed. night I was sick and again missed live wrestling. Running in there with every one else just takes away time I could get live wrestling in. As a former U OF L coach used to stay he did not make his team run wind sprints he ran them on the field doing plays instead of taking time away from his practice just to run. Seems as though it worked U OF L did pretty good last year. I say run on your own MORE INSTRUCTION AND LIVE WRESTLE
