  3. Umm, just a lil something.

Chase Llyod from DeSales was a senior this past year. Thats tough luck he didn't finish the season.

Both Choates' WILL be champions. (aaron can beat james)

And Pat Lile will be a champion at whatever weight class below 140 if he feels like it. If he is anywhere in weight classes 112, 119, 125... it will be on top of an opponent who is getting pinned.

So with that being said... you can discuss more of the Choates', remove Chase Llyod from the rankings, and stop talking down to Pat Lile, (HACKER!). He's a humble one, but don't let him fool you.

  4. Nickle is one of my friends and i have to say, before the season started i thought Nickle would have state in the bag. He has a mat at his house, and being there and watching him move faster than me on the mat, (and im a 145) had me convinced that he would win state. Even when everyone thought Starks would stay at 215, i asked him "well wat about if Starks is in your way?", and he told me, "Then i'll beat him too!!!"

And with that kind of determination there was no dought in my mind that he would win.

Then through out the year he started wrestling like how other 215 wrestle and not how i knew he could wrestle, and that had everyone thinking without question, that he wasn't going to win. Slightly even myself. That is why he was considered the "underdog" that won a state title, but in my book, he wasn't an underdog... he was my favorit to win. I knew he was a better wrestler that all other 215s out there and he proved it at state. Maybe some of you arent convinced yet, because he wasn't absolutly the man to beat through out the entire wrestling season, but i have wittnessed Derek do some amazing things. And he has more techniques than that of any 215 or 189 in state as of now. I beleive if he and Jones were to wrestle right now Derek would win and be in control for most of the match. He is a remarkable young man and he deffinately does not deserve to be under esstimated!

  5. i love being an offensive wrestler... not too physical but i spend the entire time on my feet working set ups and psych outs to go for shots and ducks, shucks and etc. As far as top control, im very controling and on bottem i move a bit to work out a reverse.

  6. Derek Branch went 0-3??? And he's wrestling 152?????!!!!!!

    lol

wats up wit dat anybody know?

BTW, that Dustin Stengal kid is very sexy! OMG! Wat a stud! You gotta dig on dem thick sexy legs of his i mean... DANG! lol

  7. Also how did this subject get up this post is about ERVIN VS. WOLSIFER the last time i checked.

Ervin vs. Wolsifer is an old warn out topic already and i am not sure why it even came up. The bottem line would have been, Ervin would be beaten by Wolsifer miserably. People capable of beating Wolsifer dont grow on trees... we havent wittness very many. The majority of his loses are to somebody whose name is Cooper, which is pretty impressive if ya ask me, because you dont just coincidicialy run into an awsome kid named Cooper wherever you go. Him and Ervin wrestle... 15 takedowns later... Match ends. 30-15, Wolsifer. Duh.

    Back to Dalton... lol

  8. If Golsby legitemently lost that match, then there is no reason for anyone to beleive that Sullivan is something great by comming back on D.C. Evens to win, when that match is displayed on the enternet and the right shoulder of Dalton is a very clear 4-5 inches from the mat.

There wear many matches at state so Jeperodized by the reffing jobs, that any better offciating colud have effected who may have been state champ or runner up this year.

The Dalton Evens-Travis Sullivan and John Golsby-Mitch Ervin matches are the most obvious two.

  9. I'm not sure Sheehan was a top dog, but Ervin defeated a dangerous Golsby (who seemed to be at his best during that match), and he did defeat Banks and even put him on his back.

I think many would think that Banks could give Wolsiefer a good match, why not Ervin?

Ervin did not defeat a Dangeruos Golsby, he was Defeated by a Dangerous Golsby whose hand just didnt happen to get raised... lets not forget this was ref'd by good ole'  "JCa'tan"...

just pointing out that you mixed your props up wrong...

  10. I was wondering when someone would remember that thread.  Johnny is still pretty darn good, there is no shame if he lost to Murton...even if it was soundly.  I have known a couple of guys who have wrestled college, and all of them when they come back to wrestle h.s. kids, they dominate.  Even the really good h.s. kids.  I'm sure there is a lot of reasons for this, but I just think when they get to college the level in the practice room just must be insane.  At most colleges all the kids in the room are probably top 5 in their state....most are probably state champs.  You get used to wrestling every day at that level, your average high school kid doesn't stand much of a chance.

    Word.

  11. Im pretty sure Murton beat him pretty bad but I think Johnny got a couple takedowns.

In a topic not too long ago, it became a discussion that if Johnny were to wrestle Jacob, that he would have enough weight to take him out, not to mention the whole world beleives that Wolcifer was Odin, Father God of Protection and Strength, in a past life. lol

I for one had no dought that Jacob Murton could defeit any high school wrestler in the state of Kentucky, with maybe an excption of Anthony Bailey... (might get hurt with Big Black Out...lol)

So i am glad to hear that an earlier discussion that we never thought would happen was cleared up.

  12. I'll admit it. I like to tech people. But we're starting to sound like MMA fighters. We keep talking about how "exciting" a tech or a pin is for the audience but we forgot one thing...THAT DOESN'T MATTER! Neither one of the two is any better. You might preffer to do one or the other. Maybe you even HAVE TO DO one or the other in a points race against another team. But the bottom line is a win is a win. A tech fall is no better than a pin is no better than a major decision is no better than a decision. One might give you more bragging rights or may make you appear very dominate. However you look at it, a win is a win.

I couldnt have said this better mahself. (because i didnt say it at all)

This deffinately deserves an applaud karma! show mah boi some love!

  13. This is a very interesting descusion. Looks like i'll put a few cents in...

    Pin, or tech.... humm...

Thoughs who know me, know that i only pin to win. That is the goal. Through out my last season i felt a lil bored when i go into a match trying to pin, and i get it done in the first round all da time. But the basis of wrestling is to pin. That is the bottem line. I can see how others say they would rather prove that they are better by teching people... (earlier i heard something like "run a clinic on a kid" or something of the sort)

But! the first thing that you do after the takedown, or during the takedown should always be a pinning combination. Yeah, so i understand that a tech fall can make a big statement, but tilts, and turns are not the answer. These are stratigic wrestling moves first designed as desperation to win the match win there is nothing eles you can do. Now kids use them over and over and over to run the score up easy. I see some guys hold one basic, simple, no-brainer tilt... and not let it go untill they advance themselves with it for at least 9 points. This mean nothing. It just like staling while scoring. In my opinion, useing cheap turns and tilts means one thing... YA CANT PIN YOUR OPPONENT! and for many wrestlers this is true.

If your gonna tech... there is one way to do it that realy means something. Thats takedowns! takedowns make the match an even fight, and people line up to watch the match that takes place on the feet.

While takedowns usualy prove the better wrestler, the pin requires the whole package. To me the best bragging rights come of the pin. When your opponent is absolutly helpless, and it is made appearent that he is unable to continue wrestling because he is STUCK ON HIS BACK.... he becomes the B!%#&...

Pining combinations are beautiful. Give your ref a break and pin for god sake.
