This has got to be a joke. Obviously, you either don't know what you are talking about, or are trying to give us a good laugh.
-
I'll second the awesomeness of Ranger!!!! :-D
-
LaRue won 38-29 (or 39-28 something along those lines) and forfeit the last 3 weights. didn't get to watch to boys in blue, but from what i heard, looked VERY VERY good today. LaRue beat John 58-19 from what i'm told as well. I'd wager to say John was missing some kids though as i watched their football team last night play a VERY VERY VERY good Highlands team.
-
Blackwell will be the favorite, but lets not forget tha tcme states, ANYTHING can happen. I've seen favorites at the Middle School level get upset by seeminly unknown kids, who go on to make it to finals.
-
according to LaRue's website they are going to Nelson County on the 12th and not the Rumble.
-
Nickel from Doss or Nolan from Campbell (who yes, up til something like the week before regions was a JV wrestler).
-
considering the point spread in both of the duals last year, what John lost and what LaRue lost, and who each re-loads with, i'll take LaRue in a dual not as close as the score indicates. :-)
-
Teamwise: LaRue is the team to beat dual wise. Even with the loss of Jakes, Hull, and Thompson from the team, they will be reloading with some EXCELLENT young kids who could very easily come on toward the end of the season. John is still the favorite come tournament time as they have lots of experience and are the 2 time defending champs, but i'm not counting out LaRue as had the had their 189 last year during regions, it could have VERY easily been LaRue back on top. My wildcard pick is North. for both, as they have some quality kids coming back as well. Dual: 1) LaRue 2) John WC: North Tournament: 1) John 2) LaRue WC: North Weightwise: 103: not sure who will be here for anyone. 112: Paden (LaRue) is the front runner here. could be fun if Dillow from Anderson is here as well. 119: my guess is Canter (LaRue) if he is here, and possibly swift from Nelson 125: Holtzclaw (John) is the favorite, but watch out for the kid from Nelson (can't remember his name) and Perez from LaRue to possibly challenge. 130: Cox (LaRue) and Terry (Central) will have battles everytime the face off if both are here, my pick is Terry at the beginning, but Cox when it matters 135: Terry if he is here, but if not it's Demery's to lose. 140: Murphy (John). no contest. 145: This one is Johnson's to lose. 152: possibly one of, if not the weakest weight in the region. not sure who it will be. 160: Malito (John) and Robey (Central) are the top 2 contenders for now. 171: Shinault (Central) is the early favorite, but watch out for Ray (LaRue) if he decides to drop. 189: If Ray (LaRue) doesn't go 71 he is the favorite here. 215: Baring something shocking and unforseen, this is Newberry's for sure. 285: I see Browder and Frost battling it out all season here.

Middle School state is the first weekend in feb. always is as that is when Central Hardin can host.
-
assuming they are in regioin 2 with danville, they will need to make plans to attend both rounds of regional duals.
-
I've heard that Bullitt East is looking for a coach so they can start a program. From what i understand, that is all that is holding up them having a team.
-
Personally, i think logsdon would beat bradbury, but until someone other than Jarvis Elam proves they can beat Myron, we can't assume anything.
-
No, nick wrestled 96 at middle school regions and State that year ('07-'08). He only weighed about 98 lbs then. They didn't meet this year though. And don't say it is insignificant. An 8th grader who weighs about 98 lbs wrestling a sophomore who weighs every bit of 103 is a VERY significant difference.
-
Paden beat Milford 1-0 last year in a dual. At that time, though, Nick didn't even weigh 103.
-
Jason Detre from Nelson. In only 4 years he has taken a new program and guided them to a 3rd place finish in region behind John Hardin and LaRue (2 top ten programs in state) and qualified for State Duals this past year (man i wish we could have held those!!) GREAT JOB DETE!!

Maybe Claywell someone else from that area can help me: When is the all area team coming out??
-
Nate, Josh: Like most others have said, this is in no way meant to knock the NE. You all have done an INCREDIBLE job covering wrestling for our area. What most of us have a problem with is hanging one or two particular wrestlers out to dry just because of the school they attend. After looking at both area teams (1st and second) you can't deny one school got HOSED with their awards. The coaches just need to place all personal feelings aside when they vote and vote for the BEST 14 wrestlers. (If this really is an all-area TEAM, all 14 weights need to be represented).
-
How in the world does the area wrestler of the year NOT make all area first team?? Seems like voting is skewed.
-
LaRue had a heavy back during their 2001 State Duals Title run that weighed (no joke) less than their 215 did, and he was pretty close to 215. If i remember correctly, Lo'mack had to drink heavily to make heavy.
-
Canter is the Head Coach at LaRue (and congrats to him for becoming a new member of the 5th Region Hall of Fame!!!!). Paden was an assistant in the late 90's up until 2001. He then took over the middle school program in 2003, and just resigned as MS coach last year. He is now a volunteer assistant with the High School.
-
Considering an ex-Iowa wrestler also made that comparison, I don't think me saying that about some of the best "brothers" a guy could have is very bold or naive. While they may not be as dirty or rough, that is who those guys have pattered their wrestling after.
-
But Fahy was EXPECTED to win. THAT is the big difference. Luke pulled one or two upsets along the way to earn his title, Fahy didn't. And i wouldn't call Fahy's major over Paden big, since Paden went for the "big move" right at the end and got caught. Without that, Fahy only wins 11-3 which is just barely a major.
-
I think ANY of LaRue's kids who are in the same grade as Bernard (i.e Newberry, Paden, little Hull) are VERY physical when they are on their game. All of those guys are fun to watch. THAT is how wrestling is suppossed to be done. Just like the old Iowa wrestling teams that Gable coached.
-
No, he is talking about Nick Paden whom he beat 14-3 in the semis. Paden beat milford last year, so i am assuming he still sees Nick as the 2nd best 103 in the state.

tc125: you would be positively wrong. I am the guy who compiles the results and we used the KWCA rankings last year.
