    Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2008/2009 - FEB 16

I agree that his rankings are 95%. IMO 95% is a significant improvement over 50/50 or a coin toss or worse yet random. I realize Ranger is not magic and his rankings are only as good as the info fed to him. But at least it is better than random. I think it would be worth a try one year to see if it improves the tournament.

    Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2008/2009 - FEB 16

The problem is not Ranger. The problem is that khsaa ignores any rankings other than how a wrestler places in the region. It makes it very easy for them to come our with the brackets but unfortunately does not guarantee a fair distribution of the wrestlers. This results in the key matches between top ranked wrestlers in the quarter finals rather than under the lights in the finals. Clearly they have to wrestle each other eventually but preference for the fans would be under the lights. Oh well, maybe someday.

Looks like a two horse race

I see this being a very close race between Ryle and Trinity. I think Trinity finished ahead by 4.5 pts at Raider Rumble and Ryle won at Dragon by around 3 pts. Union is only bringing 11 and I don't see them as strong this year as in the past and not at the same level as Ryle and Trinity.

    Region 7 Final Predictions

Lenz ranked #2 at 112 didn't make weight at 119? Bummer.

    Region 4 predictions

Hoops has 5-6 different courts all separated by either bleachers or big curtains so basically you can only realistically see one court at a time.

Think issue is that Ohlmann hasn't wrestled much in the last month so not much info flying around on him. Hopefully they'll see each other at state. Should be a good match.

    Region 4 predictions

No chance :x Hoops is a basketball venue that probably is desperate for money and a poor set up for wrestling.

what refs to want at region and state

    Probably the best advice yet.

    Professional Photography at KHSAA

Agree completely. A zoom doesn't go through all the people, officials and workers either. Alot of people stand in the way of you seeing the match so unfortunately the best layed plans don't always work. The professional photographer will be very near the mat so no obstruction.

    Best Coaches

But from a fan perspective, when you don't care about either wrestler, it is fun to watch him dance around like he's in the match. And is it those two who look like synchronized swimmers, moving in exact step with each other?

    Thoughts from Middle School Tourney

The other fact to consider is that wrestling is still a growing sport in Kentucky. Allowing the more skilled wrestlers to wrestle up to greater competition will only continue to make the sport at all levels more competitive, thus pushing others to get better in order to compete. There could be a day when the competition is such that you won't see many MS kids wrestling at the HS level because they aren't good enough.

    Professional Photography at KHSAA

I will add that if your parents think they are going to take their own pictures of you, they are dreaming. Tournament officials really clampled down on people getting anywhere near the mats in the last year or two so if you want any decent pictures, this is your only option. Too bad they won't allow a few photographers so more kids can take advantage.

    Ryan Kelly vs Jordan Whiting

Whiting would win...his strength and speek would overcome any move Kelly could put on him.

    State Tournament Format

I really enjoy the 32 man format. It is great to give more of the kids the excitement of the "big show" and at this stage of KY wrestling, does more to advance the sport. I was fortunate to enjoy 4 years in a row and it is killing me that I won't be involved this year.

    Weather issues

Sorry guys but here is the actual quote where they were talking about diversity, not golden triangle: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ed Harken: A lot of you have been hearing the affiliates complaining about a lack of diversity on the news team. Champ Kind: What in the hell's diversity? Ron Burgundy: Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era. Ed Harken: Ron, I would be surprised if the affiliates were concerned about the lack of an old, old wooden ship, but nice try.
