  1. Yes, the Owensboro mat at state was kind of like a debut, or to let people know they are starting a team. McCrackin County High School, being combined of Heath, Lone Oak, and maybe Reidland down in Paducah is either being built or will be soon. They asked Coach Dennis Walls to help get their team running now that he had retired from Union. They will be a 6A school, btw. That is another region 1 team.

  2. I know JJ very well and I can PROMISE you JJ is more than athletic enough to do anything Reid or Hitchings can or could do including wrestle!!

    Off topic or not!!

Just a little poke there Pride :)

I can take a good nudge every now and then. Let's throw Jayce out there against some of the past 130's. Recent ones (Johnson, Perez). I came into the game in 04. not much wrestling history for me. Need help from GOO, rider, and byrd dog.

  3. I personally thought the youth state finals face off was way more intense than the high school state face off!

The youth state face off was pretty cool except it lasted forever with kids slow on getting out there and the fact that there might be 350 weight classes to go thru haha. It was a good day of wrestling

  4. In my rotation scenario for the western part of the state E.A. Diddle in Bowling Green and the Sportscenter in Owensboro both look to be good options.

I know it was supposedly very close to coming to Owensboro until that one big hotel, cant remember it's name, shut down. The sportscenter being the destination

  5. It doesnt really matter to me either way, But how many teams are in region 8/region 1? Have you taken into consideration the wrestling community population and not just state census statistics? Just curious as to what you come up with

Region 1 will have 13 teams next year if my numbers are correct. Fort Campbell, Hopkinsville, UHA, Christian County, Ohio County, Daviess County, Apollo, Trigg County, Caldwell County, Calloway County, Union County, Owensboro Senior (new), McCracken County (new high school, consolidating heath, reidland, and lone oak. They asked dennis walls to coach them but he has retired)

  6. It's early but might be fun. Line ups for next season.

Union's for ex. No idea who will go what weight. No idea really who they have in their wrestling room either

Keaton Thomas is graduating. Union returns Blackwell (3rd), Brock (1st), Wurth (7th), Gahafer (6th), and Carr (1st). Trinity returns Kahl, both fahy's, hitchings, Bryant, Darrow. Ryle returns Adams, D. Pruett, Ruschell, Ahern. Larue returns Paden, Perez, Canter, Hull, Ray, Carman, and don't forget Drew Newberry (state champ last year) who is out with injury all year.

  8. I have to go with Gahafer for most surprising placer.  This kid wasn't even in the lineup a few weeks ago.  Buckman gets the nob for champs.

I wasn't REALLLLLY surprised, but surprised to say the least by chad. He has always been a skilled wrestler, but only a freshman and being JV most of the year and getting thrown in at random weight classes when someone was injured or sick. Ranger, you might remember last year in middle school chad beat Fausz 11-3 or something like that (at least that is what one UC wrestler told me.)
