  1. ditto;

get rid of these long tourneys, we don't need to be ther all day.  ger some good teams in there and wrestle if that is what you want. Not 20 teams so we have to wrestle 10 times and 3-4 of them are against poor wrestlers.

    Kinofthehill,

some peole actually like to see competition throuh the state to see what they need to look for if they meet up at state. Also what does it hurt to get more matches. The more matches means more mat time. It shows the best competition from around the state and is very well ran. Actually the most you can wrestle is like 7 or 8 times. I know b/c 2 years ago i got knocked out first round came all the way back to the cons. semis and lost to wrestle for 5th&6th.

  2. When your tired like that you should'nt be taking shots just to be taking them. Set a mind frame that every shot has a purpose wheter it is to get the take down or set something else up. As soon as the whistle blows you throw your arms around the guys head. WRONG, if i were wrestling you I know the first thing to do is wait for the whistle to blow and when  you throw those arms up I'm taking a shot on you. You have no set up at all. Shots need to be more crisp you can't second guess it has to be nature. When wrestling someone good you can't wait to do something your shots have to be bam bam bam.

  3. I always enjoy the Christian County Invitational, although I'm a little biased.

I haven't wrestled at the Trojan Invitational but our coach is taking us next year, so I'm pretty stoked about that.

Some other tournaments I like going to are the Raptor Invatational down in Ravenwood (Nashville), TN. and the Wildcat Duals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (If  you watch two-a-days it's the blue team that beat Hoover.)

  4. If this is the rankings for 145 then 140s are gonna bump up. Im def. gonna wrestle 145 if this is right cus ive teched jamie

I agree I'll bump up from 130 to wrestle 145 If It's going to be that low this season. You have to put some better guys at 45 the #1 and #2 don't impress me at all. They haven't really "beaten" anyone to prove themselves worthy of being that high. I garuntee the 140 pounders will realize how weak 45 is and won't hesitate to bump.

  5. Someone mentioned that the best way to do it would be that the wrestler does not wrestle in regionals. That would be your first team and varsity wrestlers right there.

You then run into the problem of possibly having say a first year freshmen fill a weight class. I had a few of those. Do you not let them wrestle in JV state? If it comes to that situation do you then go by maybe win percentage?

    Example:

    - Wrestler must not represent your team in regionals

    - Exception: wrestler is the only wrestler at that weight class for your team and has a win percentage below 50%.

    ????

I'm not sure how to punish and unhonest team or coach. Do you just forfeit his place if he did and roll everyone up? Do you penalize the team from participating the following year?

    more ideas...

What would you do though if someone in the varsity line up gets hurt before regionals and the team needs the JV wrestler who participated in the JV state tourney?

  6. Personally, I'm tired of it being in Frankfort. We need middle grounds. Maybe hold it at WKU one year, Frankfort one year, EKU another, so on so forth. That way there is no biased area also I know that the Franklin County team gets to runs cocessions when state goes on, that must be a field day for them. If we ran it a different place every year it would attract more and more people every year from ALL over the state. Also with the concessions every time its at a certain area like say Elizabethtown North Hardin could run the concessions then the next year it was in Elizabethtown LaRue could run it. If it was at WKU, more of the region 1 teams could run it. When it was at so say Cumberland Wayne, Whitley, and all of those teams could run it. It could be split up into 5 places Northern, Southern, Eastern, Central, and Western Ky.

  8. Wolsiefer is a great wrestler, no question about it....but the only year you could have considered him for MOW was this past year, and it was a close call....but Ervin deserved it.  That one is debateable.  His soph year, Murton wins it there...hands down...nuff said.  This past year, he had 2 relatively close matches that were just less than outstanding.  Ervin got the nod because he was the best wrestler, on the best team...he stepped it up big time in the finals....and that was that.  This year might be Johnny's year for MOW....but he'll have to earn it.  He'll either have to beat a top notch wrestler like Ervin or Courtney....or he'll have to dominate enough to make a case.  That's my 2 cents worth.

Well put. I agree with pioneer.

  10. Yeah, I know.  But I'm telling you it is all formula driven.  It's not like I have a special Woodford County bonus point system.  They actually have 4 "medalists" (Parks, Lewis, Courtney, and Sheehan) and 4 others scoring points.

Alright, It should be interesting to see if Woodford can pull through with a tough top 3 team like the past 10, 15 years or will they go downhill as like so many top teams do when they reach there peak.

  12. 119: Dalton Evans, very impressive in his match with Sullivan. Reminds me of the Perry vs. Hendricks match. Losing to him 7 times during the season then coming back like that. The outcome wasn't the same but this kid has to be hungary for a title after seeing how close he was this year.

145: Peace. I don't think Courtney will stay at 145.

160: Mitch WILL beat Wolsifer. You can quote me on that.

    171: Reid walks through state.

189/215: toss up between kelly and jones

    285: Bailey walks through state.
