    Ryan Dillon vs Ryan Vaughn

I've been watching Ryan wrestle since his seventh grade year @ Conner. There is not a better takedown wrestler in the state at 152 than Dillion. Hands down i think we can all agree on that. His mat skills are bad, but there not as bad as you guys are saying. All this mental stuff is way overrated, even the most focused wrestlers lose and the least focused wrestlers win. Ryan is tough on his feet and that is exactly where the match will take place. If Ryan does end up on his stomach no worries and he wont worry. He'll be fine, the biggest area for worry out of Dillion is when he is on top, not when he is on bottom. Oh and by the way Dillion is focused, more focused than people suspect. Dillion by maj.dec.

    Stand Out Wrestlers

Its not a team thing Kyle showcased his skills there as well as Sr. nationals. Murton wrestled at the beast, Peace wrestled there last year. Him and Reid are attending this year. If you cant get into Beast try to sign up for Iron Man I think its the week following. Its a good thing for him to do it. I talked to someone close to kyle ruschell and they said it was looking like he was going to attend William Penn U. in Iowa an NAIA school until he displayed why he was one of the nations best at Beat and Sr Nationals. Sorry guys I love Ky wrestling and I would not say a bad word about it. But we all know being a 4 time state champ in KY does not amount to anything in college or mean you will do anything in the future. Check out Issac Knable a one time NCAA Qualifier did not do a thing while he was there. He also got beat by Chris Seta from Campbellsville his sr. year! Do it and prove what you have. If you missed out thats tough luck you should have thought about these things. Its no secret its the nations biggest tournament year after year.

    Region 6 Rankings

St. Paris Graham High School will be there and there currently ranked 3rd in the nation as a team. Every kid you run into on that team is legit so i'd have to agree with Fuller and winning that tournament is saying something... Wait if i recal didnt Ruschell win MVW at that tournament his senior year? And didnt Cooper win it last year as well??

    Tates Creek Duals

Ryan Dillion will more than likely wrestle 52 most of the day since thats where his weight is at right now. The only time i can see him wrestling 60 is against Ervin and Lee, but its all Badida's choice not Ryans.
  10. Conner had several placers at this tournament on Sunday up at Mt. Healthy -Lane Jones took 1st at 110 with a near tech fall against Ohio Grade School Champ Austin Meyers (Team Jordan/ Prodigy) Lane dominated only giving up two points at the end of the third period winning 13-2 -Logan Jones took 1st as well at 92. Had two good matches against kids from Lakota West and Loveland. He won 4-2 in the finals -Derek Wiley took 3rd at 70, was winning 5-0 in the second period before getting rolled on a cradle. Battled back with some quick pins to get 3rd -Colton Cooper took 4th at 70 wrestled a buzzsaw in the first round from Team Miron but battled back and took 4th -Jermain Moore took 3rd at 110, losing by two points to Austin Meyers on a last second takedown. Score was 2-0 -Darian Wolz. took 3rd I believe ( dont hold me too it) He look good in the two matches that i was able to watch him wrestle. He is pretty slick for a big guy -Jacob King took 1st in his first ever tournament. The kid had only been wrestling for about a week and a half so not to shabby. -Kenny Carter took 4th at 92 (different age group than Logan Jones) He ran in too a truck in the first match losing to Stephen Meyers a Middle School State Champ in Ohio via pin in second period. He rattled off two straight wins after that before losing in the finals by 1 point to Fairfield. Overall it was a good day but the tournament took FOREVER!!!

    Cooper/ Longbranch High School

Just got info in the mail that next year Cooper/ Longbranch High School will be having a wrestling team at the new high school. This will affect several kids from Conner's team, some from Ryle's team and its taking some from Boone County's team. Just wondering if anyone in the northern kentucky area has heard about a possible coach for the team, or who would be a good fit to starting up that program??? I know its early cause the school wont open until next year but its always good to get it out there and see what people think.

    Region Predictions

Now i dont want this to get into some huge online message war, but actually sitting in TJ's corner and coaching him i can assure you that TJ dominated the whole match, after reviewing the score it was 10-2, i forgot to give wechbach his credit on the first take down on a john smith single...After that they rolled out of bounds starting in neutral, from there TJ keep hitting sweep singles and doubles taking him down obviously 5 times since there was no back points awarded in this match...Now wechbach might have got sick i dont really remember but the first take down happened in like ten seconds of the match and right after they rolled out of bounds and started right away and TJ got a takedown. Wechbach only "controlled" the match for maybe ten seconds, i'll give him that much time.

    Region Predictions

I was really disappointed in all you campbell county guys on here hyping up Wechbach, cause at Border Wars he got his back side handed to him by bates....bates won 10-1 so i dont see him in the finals esp. beating supe or bates

    Pin or tech

Look i love the sport of wrestling, and i now coach it, and never once as a wrestler did i want to on the mat longer than i could! First thing on my mind was get the first takedown then pin. Honestly how many of us can say know that is done and over with that we loved being on that mat wrestling in singlets with other guys??? I cant say i enjoyed it. People dont come to watch spectacular performances they come to watch spectacular matches. I dont think i ever tech a single person in my life, well maybe one but i dont remember it. On the other hand i could tell you all of my pins(not like i had too many of those either). Pins are like homeruns in this sport, which is why they give MOST pins least time awards and not Most points scored in tournament awards. And as they opposing wrestler i would much rather get pinned than tech. Lucky i never was tech but i cant imagining that sitting well in my stomach.

    Region 6

"Frankfort, Ky- Northern Kentucky produced just two finalsits at Saturday's state wrestling championships (Brian Peace and Mason Reid from Ryle). It was the lowest area representation since at least 1995, when KHSAA started retaining finalist records." "Aside from Peace and Reid, the only other area wrester to place in the top three was Scott 145-pounder Daniel Thuenerman..." This is from the Cincinnati Enquirer today, and it blows my mind that Region 6 which in my opinion has been consistently the toughest region in the state only had TWO finalist and one other going for 3rd. Overall there was 12 state placers, the lowest total for the region since they started the 32 man brackets. I know a lot of it has to do with young lineups, but with the development of new programs and old programs getting better and better it shocks me to see this region struggle like they did this year. Anyone got any thoughts on this??

    Conner =state contender???

What Conner needs is a "Leader" there was no leader there this year. If you want to make you and your team better, then step it up and become the Leader that team needs. Lead by example and others will follow. And quit the slacking in the room!

What teams will stand out next year?

Ryle, they return there 6 highest place scores and graduate fewer than three guys. Plus they get there two state champs back for another year.

    Region 6

Two years ago region 6 was hands down the toughest region in the state. Ryle finished second that year, Campbell fifth, Conner tie for nineth and Simon Kenton right behind that. That year thou was filled with upper classmen. Conner alone had 9 that year. So from that stand point i do believe region 6 is young region and has a lot and i mean a lot of good young talent that has a bunch of potential. If i'm not mistaking region 6 in 2005 had 8 finalist ( Ruschell, Aylor, Wilson, A. Cooper, N.Cooper, Nolan, Stone, Orth) and a ton in the medal rounds...(Egan, Brown, Goodmen, Schuerer, Thuenerman, Rust, Peace, Goldsby, J. Cooper, Lageman, D. Stone...just to name the ones off the top of my head) So i think it has to do with a. the popularity of the sport in Kenton County schools is decreasing (Scott, Dixie) and b. a young set of teams, i know first hand that conner is graduating 2, and from the paper today ryle is returning its highest 6 point scores in the state this year. So age is a factor
  22. This was actually probably the best wrestling match that i've seen in northern kentucky in my wrestling career. Both are amazing athletes and exceptional wrestlers. Both have a heart as big as this state when it comes to competing. Anyone who was watching this matched had to be on the edge of there seats the entire match. It was constant action from start to finish. There was some absoluetly great scrambling done by Dusty (mainly) and Shotwell..Clearly these kids are some of the top wrestlers in the state. Great great match and good luck to you two down at state...Might see this match again in the state finals. Score: Shotwell CC 1- 0 Brown SK

    2nd round matches

Call me crazy as well but the best two wrestlers i've seen this year at 130 are both Shotwell and Brown and i would not be suprised at all to see them in the state finals this year. But from what i'm hearing there is really no difference in skill level between perez, shotwell, brown, ervin and eck, its going to come down to who wants it more. They all seem to be on the same level and any one of them can win on any given day. Just my opinion.

Best Coaches In Kentucky Wrestling History

Thats very impressive...like i said he and carr are the best in the state, but i'm sticking to my claim that there still not the top coaches in the nation. But none the less there amazing coaches and have dominated kentucky in the years past.
