    Looking for assistant coaches at Moore. Teaching is not a requirement to be an assistant but if you are a teacher we may have a position for you.

    Marion C. Moore School in Louisville Kentucky is looking for ASSISTANT HIGH SCHOOL COACHES, ASSISTANT LADIES COACHES, and ASSISTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL COACHES for the 2024-2025 school year. We are part of Jefferson county public schools which is one of the highest paying school districts in the U.S.

    WE ARE AN ADVANCED SUPPORT STIPEND ELIGIBLE SCHOOL - Teachers at Moore will earn an extra $8,000 on their salary for the next 2 years. A first year teacher will start out at $55,00 at Moore.

     

    Our school is 6th-12th grade. We have elementary, middle, and high school wrestling programs with a solid booster club. We hope to receive a new wrestling room in the next few years as the district is supposed to upgrade athletic facilities. We have 3 feeder elementary schools with one of those being on the front lawn. Our principal is a former two time state champion and high school all American.

    Thanks Coach. It is a bit of stress but worth it. Thank you to all those coaches who organize and enter their kids into JV regions and state. For some of those wrestlers it was the last time they would compete this year. For the seniors it may have been their last matches ever.

    Just checked the records. We started JV state at Moore in 2008!

    6 team duals on 3 mats is the way to go. 5 matches and out at a good time. However this would require way more referees. 

    Around 120 teams in Kentucky.

    - 6 team duals across the state on a Saturday would need 20 locations. Would need at least 60 referees. 80 to rotate. Then of course you have to have enough referees to cover girls, JV, and middle school events also.

    I do not like week night duals. Getting home after 10 pm on a school night stinks and makes for a super long day for everyone. It is also rougher for some to make weight twice a week.

    Friday night duals are nice. Got all week to get weight down then a pound on Saturday.

    So far the following teams have wrestlers entered.
     
    • Please get on trackwrestling and check your roster for the tournament. 
    • Alternates have already been rolled in and more will continue to roll in as I receive scratches. 
    • Please let me know if your team or any specific wrestlers will not be wrestling so I can get wrestlers from other teams in. IF YOUR TEAM NO CALL, NO SHOWS THEY WILL NOT BE INVITED BACK NEXT YEAR.
    • We are also waiting on region 5 to finish their region and their wrestlers will be entered as well.

    Horsepower Wrestling Club will be doing Friday Night Live matches every Friday starting March 1st. The format will consist of warm-ups and then matches and live goes for 3/4 of the practice. 

    Friday Night Live
    - 6-8pm Friday March 1st at Moore Wrestling room. Backside of Moore door 13 beneath Medical Arts Building.
    - No cost. YOU MUST HAVE AN UP TO DATE FULL USA WRESTLING CARD
    - Middle and High School wrestlers

     

    On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30pm we will have Freestyle and Greco practices starting this Tuesday Feb. 26th. Just USA Card required.

    Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-4:30 starting Monday March 4th we will be having Folkstyle practices.

    I'll go ahead and tell you all a couple teams gripes from our sectional. We never had one. It was supposed to be at Moore but was snowed out. Other teams immediately started talking about going to criteria. Trinity and Moore wanted the duals to happen as we both believed we could qualify. St. X was the clear #1. Central had the nod based upon dual meet record and no common opponents. 

    Trinity offered to host on Friday January 19th. We had MLK day so weren't able to practice on that Monday. We then had Tuesday and Wednesday snowed out of school. Our County AD let us have optional practice that Wednesday for those who could make it. Thursday we had practice as normal. Upchurch instructed our section to have a vote to see who wanted to do Friday night at Trinity. It was voted down 4-2 with Moore and Trinity the only yes votes. St. X did not vote.

    Moore, Central, Trinity and Male all had a chance to possibly qualify. Our other sectional schools don't fill too many weight classes. Upchurch also extended the deadline to the 24th to do our duals and other schools wanted no part. Just a bit unfair. 

    I'm sure I'll get some flack for telling you all what went on but oh well. We wanted to compete and wanted to go to state duals.

    There will be 4 mats this year.

    This will not be on track wrestling but we will post it on our team website with links to brackets and team scores as the tourney goes on. www.mtswrestling.com

    There are so many alternates every year that the tournament usually gets randomly drawn. The draw table never ends up being the actual match ups. Just a way for me to keep up with entries really.

    As of right now we have 11 full brackets. 106 has 15 wrestlers, 120 has 13 wrestlers, and 220 has 15 wrestlers.
