    State Predictions for 130

man...this is getting hostile! ;-) I have to chime in here with my 2 cents worth....i watched the eric bryant/rusty parks match very closely...i'd have to agree with some other people in this thread (allamericn157), parks was pretty much in control. I heard so much talk on here about how great bryant looked, i thought he was going to dominate but it was the complete opposite. if Bryant wins state, i'd be surprised.

    Predictions at 140

btw - to answer your question about most people think black wrestlers don't know anything or are muscle heads.....sometimes there is that stereotype....sometimes it's deserved, sometimes it isn't. there has definitely been some black wrestlers in kentucky straight from the football team....and some of them have been successful, using a LOT of muscle. but saying that isn't meant to be disrespectful, some wrestlers just use more muscle...use what you got is what i say.

well, what kind of respect do you want for those guys? none of them were state champs....i mentioned joe carr jr, & the others because they are some of the greatest wrestlers from this state ever....and get a lot of respect from this state without question....think about joe carr jr, the best wrestler ever from the best program, who can question that? actually if you listed the pound 4 pound best wrestlers from this state, there would be a lot of black guys listed IMHO. Yes, there are more white people in the sport...i don't know why that is, and honestly it doesn't matter...the black wrestlers that deserve the respect, get the respect...in my opinion. anyhow, i hope you don't take my comments out of context...i'm sorry you feel the way you do, i just hope you don't feel like it's a racist thing.

That's bullcrap....everyone in this state respects Joe Carr Jr, Dominic Black, the Merritt brothers, etc....don't play the race card here man, don't stereotype the whole state like that!

Positive Feedback For Our New College Wrestlers

I'd bet the ranch...(all .3 acres of it) that Kyle will be an NCAA All-American...he just seems to have a great love for the sport, and a great hard working attitude. There may be a few guys ahead of him now - on a national level - but a lot of those guys will start reaching burn out in college, I just truly believe he'll excel at the college level. As much as I hate the big-10, I'll be pulling for him 100%...I might have to plan on watching the big-10 tourney in a year or so. Good luck Kyle!

    Any Divison 1 Prospects

hasbeen - you can't compare skill levels of a 189 lber and a 135 lber....lighter weights will almost always have more flash and finesse....starks is 1 heck of a good wrestler....if he wants to be D1, he needs to do well at Sr nationals or some other big national tournament and he'll have D1 opportunities, i believe he can.... as for cooper, if he had grown up in Ohio, he would have been D1 no doubt...not because he would have been a better wrestler, maybe he would have, maybe he wouldn't have...but because he would not have been considered out of state....there are no D1 schools in Ky with wrestling programs compared to Ohio who probably has 5 or 6 programs. So a Kentucky kid will always have to be exceptionally good such as Ruschell to get serious D1 looks since they will always have to pay out of state tuition.

    Projected line-ups for 05-06

i agree, ryle will most likely beat cc, but i'm sure it will be closer than most people would imagine....it always is...but Ryle will be VERY good next year in my opinion...WC should win it, but if they slip just a bit...a key injury or whatever, Ryle could be all over them at state.

    Standout wrestlers from Region 7

Ashbrook is going to be a great wrestler...he seems to really be working hard and has a great attitude. I'm rooting for him!

I agree with you guys about wrestling out of state to differentiate yourself. You also have to consider that there are no D-1 schools in our state that have wrestling programs. So anyone going D-1 from our state has to be that much better, since it will take more scholarship money for schools to recruit out of state kids. I think Starks is a winner, period. I watched his finals match at state and I believe that was his A-game. He seemed to be wrestling more relaxed in the finals than he did the whole tournament. If he had been like that since the first round, none of those other guys would have hung with him.....IMHO. He has to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders: 1) top program in the state (as much as it pains me to admit it) 2) top wrestler on the top program 3) wrestling for an individual title & team title.... Also, I thought he looked like a small 189 lber last year. He also looked smallish for a 189 lber at the BGSG....if it's true that he weighed 180 last year, he's a certified beast!
  15. good luck to you coach wilder.

    Cambellsville Camp

Man, watch out for Harrison County this year....i've seen some great wrestlers from there recently, and new names keep popping up! They've been very active in the summer...hopefully their hard work pays off down state! Good job guys!

    Who's going to Cumberlands camp?

Thanks for the info. So far the Cumberland College camp looks like a very good camp. There were a LOT of out of state wrestlers there yesterday for registration.

    Who's going to Cumberlands camp?

who all's going? just curious. Also, has anyone heard anything about Campbellsville's camp? I heard they are having one too, but I haven't heard anything about the dates or cost or anything.
