Wrestling Philosophy

  • FANATIC TRAINERS WIN! - A common characteristic among all American World and Olympic Champions is that their training attitude was to “do more than you think you ought to do.” Even though some were tall, some were short, some were fast, and some were strong - THEY ALL WERE FANATIC TRAINERS!

  • THE ONLY MOVE THAT MATTERSare the ones you actually do - and do well at high speeds! DEFENSE WINS - If you score you may win. If your opponent never scores, you won’t lose! Defense wins!

  • ONE MOVE - You should have one move you do well enough “at high speed” that you can score with on anyone!

  • CONDITIONING IS CAREER LONG - Never let yourself get out of shape. Do some type of hard workouts three times a week, all year long.

  • EVERY WORKOUT IS IMPORTANT - Wrestle the best you can every moment. Give 100% of what you got. “Wrestle like a champion every day.”

  • SEEK OUT THE BEST COMPETITION - Workout with the best training partner you can find. Go to the toughest tournaments and competitions you can find. “Iron sharpens iron.”

  • WORK YOUR TRAINING SCHEDULE - Running (hard and intense), strength training, hard and correct drilling of technique, hard and situational wrestling, practice sound nutritional habits, and include proper rest and recovery.

  • GOAL SETTING - You must have a goal, and a vision to be successful. Begin with a detailed plan, then work the plan. Never compromise on your daily goal, and you will reach your final destination.

  • BE LOYAL TO YOUR PARENTS, YOUR TEAMMATES, YOUR COACHES, AND TO YOURSELF AND YOUR GOALS.

  • BE A SERVANT LEADER. PUT THE TEAM FIRST. SACRIFICE FOR THE GOOD OF ALL. BE HUMBLE IN VICTORY AND GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT.

  • BE AN EXAMPLE OF CLASS.

  • GIVE HONOR WHERE HONOR IS DUE.
