Guest cmccoy Report post Posted September 27, 2010 They did not change but there is a great chance they will within the next two years. There are two options the National Association are looking at and voting on. They are:Current - 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285New - 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220,
DBW 1 Report post Posted September 27, 2010 Coach McCoy - was that the "B" option that was on the USA Wrestling website? Also, just to educate the newbie, what is the rationale for limiting the heavy weights to 285? Seems a few good big guys these days would have to choose between wrestling and being college prospects as linemen. It may not be an issue, but I have wondered about that in the past. Guest cmccoy Report post Posted September 27, 2010 Yes I believe these were options A and B. As far as 285 goes, I am not sure.
FalconWrestling 147 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 Yes I believe these were options A and B. As far as 285 goes, I am not sure. From my understanding, back in the day when there was an unlimited weight class you had 400 pound monsters basically just throwing their weight around. I remember that the last year of the unlimited weight class the NCAA Finals were between the heavest finalist in history (something in the 400s) and the lightest finalist in history (190 pounds I think). I'm not sure but I believe it was injury prevention, but I never really looked into it
