ukpridewrestler11 276 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 Each region has 56 qualifiers Region 1: 126 (11 teams) Region 2: 142 (16 teams) Region 3: 110 (12 teams) Region 4: 86 (9 teams, 2 teams with 0 kids) Region 5: 128 (11 teams) Region 6: 139 (12 teams) Region 7: 179 (17 teams) Region 8: Not released Looks like realignment needs to take place. Several kids in region 4 have already qualified without stepping on the mat. Region 7 has 179 kids and 17 teams alone! 3
FalconWrestling 147 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 Fern Creek drives past region 4 schools to go to the region 3 tournament. If you switched them from Region 3 to Region 4 those two regions would be balanced out kids wise. Would still be the two smallest regions in the state with Eastern dropping their program and programs like Seneca, Shawnee, DuPont Manual, and Iroquois rarely fielding more than five kids on their team. Not going after anyone but it's a bad situation for wrestling in Louisville
wrastler_ 20 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 Region 2 has 5 teams with more than 12 kids.

wrastler_ 20 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 For numbers purposes it would make sense if they went back.
coachteater 70 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 Region 7 is also looking at possibility of adding more teams next year. Its already brutal to get to state. Think Somerset will be coming on. Heard if they get it, The 2 Pulaski schools might too. Corbin looking to add. And Ive also heard both Laurel co schools. Plus Lynn Camp is already on, they just didnt have any hs kids this year, only some m.s. kids. He should have some on hs next year.

Nunn parkway area into a region, Adding Wayne, and Taylor County. Especially if South Warren starts as soon as it is saying it is. That could bring back Barren County. You could move the Owensboro schools back to Region 1, move the 3 Bullitt County schools to Region 2 and combine the rest of the Region 3 and 4 schools into one region. Either way realignment is going to have to happen. We are definitely fast approaching scenarios where every region will have to be two days.
