2017 WSAZ Tournament in Huntington West Virgina

Recommended Posts

I am only Tracking two teams going to this very challenging Tournament in WV this weekend. Both Meade and John Hardin got some very favorable seeds this year. Each weight class can have up to 64 wrestlers and only the top 16 get seeded. Teams from KY, WV, OH, PA, NJ, NC, and TN are a few of the states who sent teams this year. You can do more research on your own if you want to at WVmat.com ( http://wvmat.com/temp/17wsazhs2.pdf )

The Seeds have been released for the 2017 WSAZ Tournament in Huntington West Virgina.

Has Trent Johnson ever wrestled Humphrys? Should be one heck of a match. Humphreys is an animal, but his cardio looked a little supspect when I saw him this year. I think Trent wins this match up. Also saw some former KY wrestlers by the last name of Whorton seeded #1 at 106 and 126. Glad to see they are continuing their success. I thought Johnson Central was supposed to be at this tournament. I didn't see any of their guys listed.

When did the Whorton's move? Completely forgot about them. Also, Johnson Central not listed anywhere in the seeds. That's going to throw a wrench in the seeds when they do show up. Some people won't be happy when they face those big boys of JC in the early rounds and get knocked out after being seeded higher.

The seeds have been adjust a little. Johnson central and Boyle Co. listed in the line ups. Only notable change was trent Johnson now #3 seed. They both have some seeded wrestlers now. JC mostly in upper weights and Boyle in the mid to lower weights.

Doubt that it will be on Track.  Go to wvmat.com and you should be able to find a link to the tournament Friday.

Thanks!  It is always fun to watch quality KY kids against out of state competition.

Hope to see all the Kentucky Kids do well, Boyle should have several wrestlers do well, Meade and John Hardin both have strong wrestlers at weights and should be successful, Johnson Central always tough and should outplace all of them. Glad to see some Kentucky boys get some high seeds Blanton, Smallwood, and Jett all with #1 seeds, awesomeness!!!

HS is done for the day. Meade county has 3 still in the winners bracket. Roger young Jr, Dalton Jett, and Bryan pratt all went 2-0. Not sure how JHHS or JC wrestlers did. By team scores they must of did good. Meade is currently sitting at 9th, JHHS is 6th and JC is third overall in the AAA class. Not bad having 3 KY teams in the top 10. Congrats to all tonight. There was some real battles today. This tournament is no Joke.

John hardin is in 4th place,  johnson central  in 6th and Meade 18th I think. John has 3 in finals and 2 in consos,  johnson central has 2 in finals 6 in consos,  Meade with 1 in finals 2 in consos.  Not bad for  KY.

Just had an opportunity to look at the final results. Our KY guys did well. Very impressed with John Hardin. Garcia knocking off Whorton. Haverstick earning 3rd. Smallwood taking 1st. Johnson wrestling Humphreys to a 4-2 match. Very very good results. Congrats to John Hardin for a very solid performance.
