Team Membership Process for KY USAW 2016-2017 Season

HS, MS and Youth Coaches,

If you were a member in 2015-2016 season, do not create a new record. Your profile will already be in the USA Wrestling membership site.
All members 18 y/o and over must have a background check.
Coaches need to go online https://www.usawmembership.com/ to renew or start their registration. Coach’s cards will not remain active if they are found to not have an active email address.
You will begin the registration process. If you do not have a current background check, you will be re-directed to complete or renew your background check. Make sure in stage 2 you choose Kentucky Wrestling Assoc. you will not be charged for the background fee (It is part of your Coaches Membership fee).You will receive an email saying that you have passed the background check and can return to your online account to finish your registration. *Back ground checks are good for two years*.

If your Club or school is going to pay for the (Coaches Membership) for your coaches, after they have received their email stating that they passed their BG check they can continue with their registration online and pay with Credit Card ($50), or they can send me the invoice and check for $50 and I will complete the online registration process.
*Note: you can renew all coaches, athletes and club on one invoice and send with Team/School check. If you are going to put more than one member on the invoice, click the tab on top of the invoice (Add item to shopping cart) When you have completed all your entries, click tab at bottom to pay (or) send invoice with check to Kentucky USAwrestling.
To receive the kid’s “$15 LIMITED FOLKSTYLE MEMBERSHIP” (League Card), you must register/renew each wrestler online, (or) have the parent renew/register their kid’s membership online at: https://www.usawmembership.com/
**The $15 LIMITED FOLKSTYLE MEMBERSHIP” (League Card) will only be available to purchase from 1 September thru 30 November. After the 30 November date, you must purchase the full membership card $45 for your team members. Each card
is exclusive to that athlete with a unique card number for each athlete. To have liability coverage with the USA Wrestling liability coverage program, all athletes must have the $15 LIMITED FOLKSTYLE MEMBERSHIP” (League Card) by the end of the first week of practice. A fine may be imposed on the organization/(club) of $50 and will incur weekly until all athletes that are practicing on your mats have a $15 LIMITED FOLKSTYLE MEMBERSHIP” (League Card).
The $15 LIMITED FOLKSTYLE MEMBERSHIP” (League Card) will be available again after March 1st for post-season club enrollment. The added value of the $15 LIMITED FOLKSTYLE MEMBERSHIP” (League Card) is that the card is good for the whole fiscal year (season) 2016-2017.
With our new Tier program offered by USAW, parents may want to upgrade to a different level for their athlete. This gives parents the option to renew or upgrade on their own. Their cards can be downloaded immediately at the time of purchase. Parents can give you a copy of their athlete’s card. There is no other charge for online purchase.
Note: If you do not have an active USAW Club Charter for your team, your team members registering online will not be able to register under your team name. Charter your club ASAP and let your wrestling members know your “chartered team name”. *Please advise your athletes/parents to select your club while registering online.
Remember to sanction your tournaments to abide by KSWA and the USAW insurance policy of liability for your facility and kids.

Club Charters need to be completed on-line by an active member coach. (We suggest this is done first so athletes have a club to register with.

LIMITED FOLKSTYLE League Cards--- $ 15.00 (Good from (1 Sept thru 31 Aug) in KY only) (Folkstyle cards can be upgraded for $30 to full competitor cards) for out of state use. *Folkstyle cards can now be used in Ohio, and Tennessee, at this time. (Only to be used for FOLKSTYLE EVENTS.)

All team member names and USAW card #, along with all coach names and coaches card #, can be downloaded and needs to be sent to me at this email address. keith.smith@kentuckyusawrestling.org (You can download your club members to an excel spreadsheet from your club page.)

The association’s goal is to have all the Coaches, kids, and Clubs insured through USA ASAP. (First week of Practice)

All Youth and Middle School tournaments need to be sanction with USA Wrestling and use Track Wrestling to register teams. All athletes must have USA Wrestling cards to compete. Any coverage is forfeited if your team competes in a sanctioned Tournament with any athletes not being an active member. A updated athlete roster will be sent to the host of a USA Wrestling sanctioned event to verify membership upon request.
Please, completely fill out the online registration form for each individual wrestler. The online registration profile must have the individuals’ current email address.

Just for clarification, the coaches card is good for 1 year. The background check is good for 2 years from the date that you are approved.
