True. Plus, if they changed it this year because they had time, they would be pressured to seed it next years without the benefit of 3 weeks.

Still think some sort of seeding deserves consideration but too late to change it now.

I think it's time for the wrestling community in Kentucky to put this conjecture to rest. Seeding is just not going to happen. While I believe seeding to be a good thing and support the idea, I understand that the khsaa is not going to allow it any time soon. There will be casinos on Kentucky soil before there is seeding at the state tournament. There will be peace in the Middle East before there is seeding at state.

So far, I've seeded 106-132. Region champs only. I used head-to-head and KW.com rankings (hope you don't mind Ranger and Dutch). The rest were drawn in according to the KHSAA standard draw table. It was a little time consuming, but not that difficult. I just went to track and looked at each region champs match results for head-to-head. Of course some champs didn't have head-to-head, so I looked for common opponent. If I wasn't already involved with the state tournament, I would seed it, with a committee. I don't think we could get full coaches participation for a seed meeting.

i think as the sport continues to evolve and KY wrestlers become even more competitive, seeding the best wrestlers will become more realistic and permissible. But for now, let's roll with it. Too much negativity being exhibited on something we all realize is not going to change in the immediate future. Let's just enjoy the tournament. The best wrestlers will find their way to the podium..

This topic has already been discussed in another thread. It is very possible and would be best for KY wrestling. I forgot having 4 out of the top 5 supposed ranked guys on one side of the bracket was a good thing LOL

I would like to see the Coaches Association have more authority and say in the decision making process, I'm tired of some the KHSAA wrestling people currently in charge

With all the time we have before state, someone needs to seed the 8 region champs in each weight class and see how many arguments you can get started. People love to complain and argue and this would be fun.

No way could you also seed the runner ups.

The logistics of a 1 vs 4, and 2 vs 3 would be mind boggling.

Agree, this would be too chaotic.  In reality the 8 regional champs would be the ones deserving of seperation, and in theory the 8 regional champs "should" be the better kids who deserve the seeding.  If dutch and Ranger's ranking show the top two in the same region, well they would be seperated anyways, and likely for the other regions as well.

I've said it before, Ohio has done this for years and more often than not, the semi's and the finals tend to be the matches you would want.  The quarters are good always as well, but it comes down to seeding the 8 Champs and then telling Johnny he needs to be on his A game if he wants that title and create some upsets.  They happen every year.

Considering I'm new to the great state for coaching (maybe I should ask my head coach) but Ranger, GOO, how does one offer the idea to KHSAA?  Do I just write a letter with explanaiton and examples?  All of this talking over and over doesn't change the way it's completed, how can we start a process to help make this better?
