KentuckyWrestling.com 2013 State Tournament Rankings - February 14

Recommended Posts

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone involved in the ranking committee and Coach McCoy for organizing it. Hours and hours of research went into every win and loss on TrackWrestling and the ScoreBook. At first we only planned to rank the top 10, but everyone wanted to include more kids because we felt we owe it to these wrestlers for all the hard work they have put in.

The committee is made up of parents, coaches, moderators, and even your favorite sports journalist. The word on the street is Ranger still plans to do his Ranger Report, so keep a look out for that (going on 5 years)! We all owe Ranger a steak dinner for doing this for so long. With that being said, go ahead, rip apart these rankings...

See you in Lexington...

Great job. I wouldn't pay attention to the haters. I know you guys worked your butts off and put a lot if effort into this. I'm sure the pay was great too. Lol!! Inevitably, there are going to be disagreements from people. This is not a perfect science. However, if you do disagree, support your disagreement with specific examples. Raider, if you're gonna say these are terrible and you miss Ranger, tell us which kid or kids you think are ranked too low. Maybe you'll be proven right this weekend or just maybe you'll have to eat crow.

Lets just say I know one kid who teched a 14, majored a 7 twice, dec a 9, and lost in ot to another 9 and didn't get ranked. His in state losses were to a 1, a 2(twice) the ot loss to a 9, and one bad loss to a unrated kid. Certainly a better resume than many ranked at his weight.

Thanks for putting them out. Have to admit it sucked checking every week and not having anything new. I always thought it had to be a huge undertaking for one guy witha job and coaching his boys, so can't bitch about it. It's cool when they use the rankings during the state tourney to announce matches....especially when a couple of heavy hitters are facing off. A sincere thanks.

I believe raider is talking about jake sanders. Who I also agree will place this year at state

Jake sanders would have been my second example. I'm talking about another jake.

What is the deal, why are you being so cryptic? Just say his name.

Young has pinned Raynel Brown in the second period at the Ryle Tournament.  He has also won in a 3-0 deciscion against Lawson in the finals of the Ft. Knox Invitational.

Thank you guys for all you do.  I know that this had to be a large job and took a lot of hours.  It would be impossible to know all that has happened this year.  Good job by all!!

182 rankings are worthless. Fooks soundly beat 4 of your top 9 and he is 10? Chamblee should be ranked 1. Did any of you guys go to the dragon?

Carman has one loss to McDaniel which he avenged with a major. Chamblee just lost to Matthews last week.  I think you can make a decent case for any of the top 3 but to definitively say Chamblee should be #1 is fairly dismissive of 1) his loss last weekend and 2) the resume of the other guys at the top.

Raider....and another Jake? He's talking about Jake Erdman. Lost to Heidorf, parrot 3 times, fauz, kid from central at dragon. He failed to mention that the 7 he's beat twice is at 120! There's too much info out there for you to be cryptic, so don't be a hater.

Erdman could have been in there, he was in the discussion, but it probably came down to not having any wins against top 10 guys (in that weight), but he did tech-fall Beeler at the Rumble, so he could have fallen in there but that was a really early tournament.

We basically only had 2 days this time to put something out and everyone is busy with state tournament, so some kids probably got missed.

Erdman's only rankable win was over Beeler. Wins over kids bumping up were fairly low on my criteria. However I will say Beeler was one of the last guys in and I can easily see Erdman finishing higher then Beeler
