  1. In case you missed it... Kyle took gold at the PanAm Freestyle Games in Brazil at 74kg today! Despite not wrestling competitively in 2 1/2 years, he was asked to represent USA at 74kg. Seems the current team member at that weight wasn't able to go and some recent members at that weight didn't have a valid visa for Brazil. So last weekend, while coaching at the US Open in Las Vegas he was asked if he would be interested in going. He didn't even have to wrestle... just make weight and step on the mat to qualify the weight for the US at the World Championships. That wasn't happening... if we was given the opportunity to represent the US... he was wrestling. Admittedly not at competing condition... but he would give it his best... and he did! Wrestling 3 matches today he won all 3 with tech falls; 10-0, 10-0, 11-0... that's right not one point scored on him. We were able to watch 2 of the 3 matches live on TrackWrestling.com and there is a video of an interview immediately after the finals. Kyle represented himself, his country, his family, the State of Kentucky, and the University of Wisconsin very well and we couldn't be more proud. If you'd like to see the interview and how all the US Wrestlers did... here is a link to the story and video... http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling/Features/2017/May/07/Mens-Freestyle-Pan-Am-Championships-Recap
  2. I came, I saw, I slammed!!!! I would like to invite you all to participate in the Seymour Slam Folkstyle Open on Saturday, January 24th, 2015! This is a USA Wrestling sanctioned event for pre-k through middle school or peewee-cadet (no High School wrestlers). Last year we had a good cross section of different teams from Kentucky, Indianapolis and South Central Indiana. We are expecting teams from Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Central Indiana, and Illinois this year. This is a great tournament to wrestle different opponents that you will not see during the year. Last year we ran an organized tournament with coaches or coaching parents only downstairs. Spectators will be upstairs to keep the floor clear. However, we will allow parent coaches to coach their wrestler if they are the coach (no other family members will be allowed around the mat). Full mats will be used! We are located an hour north of Louisville. You can view the awards in the attachment!
