  4. In case you missed it... Kyle took gold at the PanAm Freestyle Games in Brazil at 74kg today! Despite not wrestling competitively in 2 1/2 years, he was asked to represent USA at 74kg. Seems the current team member at that weight wasn't able to go and some recent members at that weight didn't have a valid visa for Brazil. So last weekend, while coaching at the US Open in Las Vegas he was asked if he would be interested in going. He didn't even have to wrestle... just make weight and step on the mat to qualify the weight for the US at the World Championships. That wasn't happening... if we was given the opportunity to represent the US... he was wrestling. Admittedly not at competing condition... but he would give it his best... and he did! Wrestling 3 matches today he won all 3 with tech falls; 10-0, 10-0, 11-0... that's right not one point scored on him. We were able to watch 2 of the 3 matches live on TrackWrestling.com and there is a video of an interview immediately after the finals. Kyle represented himself, his country, his family, the State of Kentucky, and the University of Wisconsin very well and we couldn't be more proud. If you'd like to see the interview and how all the US Wrestlers did... here is a link to the story and video... http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling/Features/2017/May/07/Mens-Freestyle-Pan-Am-Championships-Recap

    5 Gut Wrench Teaching Steps

When teaching or learning Freestyle and Greco Roman one of the first things you need to learn is the Gut Wrench. Mainly so you can defend it appropriable. I have put together a 5 step teaching process to the Gut Wrench offense and defense. If you would like to see it go here for all the details: http://www.darylweber.com/5-gut-wrench-teaching-steps/ Thanks, Daryl Weber 1996 Gable Trained NCAA Champ Head Coach of 13x State Champs Christiansburg HS, VA
  14. I believe it is important for wrestlers to compete in Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling in the off season. I have put together an article talking about why it is important. Check it out here http://www.darylweber.com/wrestle-freestyle-greco-roman/ You can also receive my Free Freestyle & Greco Starter Kit with the 5 Steps to Mastering the Gut Wrench and much more here http://www.darylweber.com/lp/fs-gr-starter/ Thanks, Coach Weber
  15. April 11th-13th for highschool and MS wrestlers April 18th-20th for youth wrestlers 8-12 This 3 day training camp will focus on Freestyle, as well as throws and trips. It will be a good camp, but will be fun too, which is a big part of summer time wrestling. Kids will enjoy learning all the new skills. The kids will be exposed to detailed technique from the top and bottom position, that will really help them with the defense and turning. NOTE: This camp is during Brute Nationals. I held one last year during this week as well with a great turnout. Brute is fairly pricey, with 60.00 entry fees and 90.00 fees for coaches passes. We will have some great wrestlers here to train with, and the kids will get 5 hours of live in, compared to a couple matches with decent competition at Brute. Go to www.tonypurler.com to Register . Fri-Sun, fee: 190.00 also check out Constant Motion System Camp In KC, Mo. Dates: July 13-17th, and July 20-24th. Wrestler's will drill and re drill to perfect a scoring system from all the areas we typically 'wrestle' ourselves into, both perfect..as well as bad positions. Go to tonypurler.com for info and registration **My livelihood is dependent on my doing a great job and HELPING kids. If I did a poor job with minimal impact on my wrestlers/campers, I would've been out of business a long time ago. So please consider this camp when searching for a camp for your son.**
