Thanks! I missed that school. I was looking the kids up by school and didn't catch that one! Sorry to leave him off the above list.

110: Bryant Brinkman from Ryle got 3rd 130: Mat Wasson from Harrison Co. got 1st, Seth Page from Ryle got 4th 140: Anthony Condi from Fredrick Douglas got 5th 145: Kayson White from Highlands got 3rd 195: Levi Shearer from Highlands got 3rd 215: Aiden Rogers from Highlands got 5th I think that was all the KY kids that ended up placing. Apologies if I missed someone.

Looks like Mat Wasson, Anthony Condi, and Kayson White are still in the semis of their brackets. Lots of KY wrestlers competing here today!

I think there were around 25 kids from Kentucky that competed at IHPO. It was so great to see so many kids from around Kentucky. I saw kids from Johnson Central, Ryle, Walton-Verona, Trinity, Simon Kenton, Scott High, Highlands, Harrison County, Great Crossing, Anderson County, Woodford County, Grant County, Fredrick Douglas, John Hardin, and probably a few I missed all hanging out together and cheering on each other throughout the day! Congrats to those that placed: Jackson Wells 116 (Harrison County)- 1st place George Dennis 129 (Harrison County)-2nd place Landon Evans 135 (Ryle)-3rd place Isaac Johns 153 (Woodford)-3rd place Travis Steiber 218 (Ryle)-4th place Roman Valera 116 (Trinity)-4th place TJ Meyer 135 (Walton-Verona) 7/8th place Kayson White 141 (Highlands): 7/8th place

Can I share this on social media sites?

Team placed 5th From what I heard that is the best a Kentucky team has ever placed. I don’t know that for a fact though.
-
Based on the rules last year that is accurate. To my knowledge the bylaws haven’t changed. (Not arguing whether you agree with it or not, just starting the facts). Students that chose to wrestle middle school state (regardless of their age/grade) can not wrestle in youth state if they place at Middle School State. Students that compete at Middle School state but do not place can still wrestle youth state. So if your 9 year old 4th grader places at middle school regions, competes at middle school state and comes in 5th place then they are basically forfeiting their chance to compete at youth state. If you qualify at MS regions you can defer your spot for Middle School state and opt into youth state instead if you decide you prefer to wrestle youth.

Will they bring back freestyle and Greco state this year
Sarah White replied to Wrestler1986's topic in Youth Wrestling
I don’t know about state, but I know there are some things in the works to create some more opportunities at the youth level for freestyle and Greco. -

Middle school and youth state tournament dates/location
Sarah White posted a topic in Youth Wrestling
Kentucky State Tournament Info: Mark your calendars (if you haven’t already). Middle School State Tournament: Saturday, March 12th, Corbin Arena, Corbin, Kentucky Youth State Tournament: Sunday, March 13th, Corbin Arena, Corbin, Kentucky Mondell asked me to share. *Flyer and more details coming soon. -
I asked this question earlier this year because Spatola Wrestling did the same thing. The information I was given was that you had to go on USA wrestling and pay the fee to charter a club then the coaches had to go through the USA wrestling coaches background check and training to get their coaches card and that was all. There is a fee to charter the club (I think it was $80) and a fee for the coaching card but from what I could gather it was pretty simple.

9 spots left!!

Updated weight needs!!! Please share with you clubs and any kids interested in getting some exposure to National Tournaments. Great opportunity here in our backyard!
-
Unfortunately there wasn’t enough interest due to conflicts with the middle school/high school season. The few kids that were originally interested mentioned they would love to participate if it was post season but just couldn’t do this one in January.
