High School All Star Team, Bragging Rights 2022

I assume you are only talking about boys? -
The open registration for girls entries closed in 15 minutes or less.

Track has 3 classes, although they are way past their own realignment schedule.

Much of the complaint about seeding, could have been eliminated by wrestling for true 2nd. One of the best examples is Semi-state 3 152 lb Region 6 runner-up will be at home this weekend, while region 6 3rd place finisher will take home a medal. seeding was based on record, and last years placement I assume. Considering only top 2 advanced, 1 against 4, 2 against 3 would have been a much better format. given the complete lack of parity across the state, and with continuing the random draw match up at state, True 2nd should be added.
-
if it's top two, I don't think you have any choice but to wrestle for true 2nd. That how it was done before they changed formats in the 80s.

What teams are affected by no winter sports in Jeff Co?

so what about regions 3 and 4? -
This is the link to the Kentucky Educator Placement Service: https://applications.education.ky.gov/keps/default.aspx Positions are generally posted throughout the year, but the bulk of them begin in March.
-
This may not be popular, but pushing the season back to march, means a lot of kids who also participate in spring sports will have to choose. Remember all spring sports were totally eliminated last year. So, I don't see that happening. They do not care about wrestling. Pushing football back a week, is evidence of that.

yes to waiver, nuway for one, not sure on the other. temperature checks, one states you can bring a lawn chair as long as you stay 6 feet apart, so I am assuming they are opening up the floor and not using some of the seating.

My granddaughter is suppose to wrestle in two venues in coming weeks. both are being held in large arenas that routinely host livestock shows. One listed the protocols, two 20' x 40' door sections will be left open. no air, but exhaust fans will be running continuously. Masks by all, except for wrestlers when competing. Social distancing must be maintained.

Was State Seeded this year?
Tdog'sPap replied to Kentucky Grappling's topic in High School Wrestling
They will never seed the state tournament, however, one thing could make our state tournament very interesting. And, it can be done logistically w/o to much hassle. Wrestle for true 2nd. -

Is there a list of qualifiers by region?
-
Fuji may have lost in OT to kinley at the bearcat, but only because kinley was blocking and stalling. Referees admitted, his stalling wasn't caught in time, or there would have been no OT. He is the best wrestler I have seen. The kid is fearless. A true wrestler.

As far as it being a regional qualifier, I'm not sure. It is early, but from what I heard last year the regions that were late had a hard time getting alternate kids in to fill up brackets. It should be the next best, based upon criteria, or rotate by region, but apparently it was not done that way, so early may be better. However, as far as a JV/ girls event if was great for our kids. Had 3 teams not pulled out there would have been about as many girls there as we had at state last year.

I found the tournament by searching seasons on track. It has been there for a few weeks. I contacted FC coach, and he was great! He kept constant communication with the teams, and, had relaxed entry into the base, which is not easy to do. There were 72 girls there, and that's with 3 teams dropping out, and a few no shows from other teams. FC coach has stated that they are planning to hold this event next year on 12/22. I highly recommend this event. It was good competition, especially for our girls.

Kentuckywrestling.com HS Rankings 2019/2020 - Dec 19
Tdog'sPap replied to Ranger123's topic in High School Rankings
I just want to say thank you for ranking Cole Harrod. Today he had to wrestle at 113, because there were no 106s. He finished 2nd. Losing to decker of Bryan station at 111.2. Cole weighed 97 lbs, today. And, he still made it close. -
A few weeks back there was a discussion that centered around wrestling being a team sport, specifically to duals. Yesterday, Anderson county Won the Frankfort Duals. Our 220 received a head injury in the semis and was out. We were already forfeiting two weight classes, with two girls in a starting line up. So my granddaughter had to be bumped up and go out on the mat at 182, against Klemmer Nicodemus. She is a 14 year old freshman. I told her she didn't have to, but if she didn't they could double forfeit 182, and we might lose 6 points. At the time we were way behind, with a forfeit, and and 3 freshmen wrestling in the next 5 matches. We in no way thought we had it locked up. She got pinned with 20 seconds to go in the 1st. But, when you say wrestling is not a team sport, you totally discount kids like her, that take one for the team. It happens in every dual. sometimes kids give up a tech fall, or fight to hang on to not give up points. When they do, it's for the team. In her case is was a real threat to be injured. As long as we wrestle duals, wrestling is a team sport. To say it's not, is to lesson the sacrifice younger kids make every week.

Years ago, I began my teaching career at union County, I coached under Coach Dennis Walls. I learned so much from him and one thing was how to get the most out of your team in duals. We wrestled in a 10 team dual at William Henry Harrison high school in Evansville. 4 duals on Friday 5 on Saturday. We had a tight match up on Friday night. We had a 1st year wrestler, great athlete, but green. Skyler Smith, won several state medals in track for union. Coach Walls told him we needed him to keep it close. He did. His opponent far superior tried to hard for a pin, late in the match, skyler hit a reversal at the end of regulation to tie the match and then won in OT. It truly made a difference. Final score wasn't even close. It carried over to Saturday where finished higher than our expectations. At Anderson, we teach our kids to be engaged when their teammates wrestle. Thus far we have finished 2nd, 3rd and 1st with a young team. Team philosophy matters.
