Coaches - We have an opening for the 2020 Bear Den Brawl (1/17-1/18) in Big Stone Gap, VA. This is a 2 day tournament that includes a team/dual format, with an individual portion of the tournament as well for the top kids in each weight class. We have teams from VA, WV, KY and TN coming. Coaches, January 17th – 18th, 2020 the Bear Den Brawl wrestling tournament will return to Union High School in Big Stone Gap, Va. We have not held this tournament the past 2 years due to weather and football playoffs. This a very competitive tournament that give teams a chance to get matches in both a team and individual format. In the team to individual format, teams will wrestle round-robin duals and determine the pool winner (Fri-Sat). On Saturday, the winners of each pool will then crossover to wrestle and determine the team champion. On Saturday following completion of the duals, the top wrestlers from each weight class in each pool will wrestle for individual weight class championships. Individual medals will be given for placers as well as team trophies for 1st & 2nd place teams. Outstanding Wrestler Awards will also be presented. The goal is to get wrestlers as many matches as possible over the 2 days in a competitive team & individual environment. Coaches – Union High School in Big Stone Gap, VA will be hosting the 2018 Bear Den Brawl Friday, 11/30 and Saturday 12/1. This will be a 2 day duals tournament, designed to get wrestlers as many matches as possible early in the season. We will begin wrestling Friday evening and finish up Saturday. Last year we had 16 teams from 7 states committed but had to cancel due to weather. We have moved the date up to this first weekend in December in order to miss those weather issues. Due to this date change we have some spots available to fill. The entry fee is $150 and we will have concessions and hospitality room available as well as trophies.
