Seriously why has a simple post about some wrestling replacements turned into a name calling argument? We are all supposed to be adults and setting a good example for our young wrestlers,some of which read this forum. What kind of example are we setting? I personally feel that this discussion has gone way of track. Stop the bickering and name calling on an open forum, go private with it. We have had enough of this negative crap the last several weeks and it is giving the kids a bad view of our sport, which we all are supposed love. I want our sport vto thrive in Kentucky but when the adults leading the way start acting worse than the youths we lead then we are not going to thrive. IMHO.

On a related note. Most of the referees we have in middle school are High School refs and they all get certified via KHSSA Training.

We can argue who is the best wrestler in the state till we are blue in the face. However there is no way to calculate that. we can only calculate (using known facts) who is statistically the best wrestler per weight class. I personally have my favorites based on heart, enthusiasm and love for the sport. Some are my wrestlers and most are from other schools.to say Spencer, Blue, Noah or the Raney twins are the best in the state is not a valid argument these young men represent 5 different weight classes. Certainly they are the best wrestlers statistically, but this weekend we saw several upsets and we all know that ant given match 1 tiny mistake can and has caused a loss. I can honestly say that I personally believe every kid in Kentucky is better for having parents and coaches like us who are there win lose or draw. Lets keep moving forward and hopefully before we all die we can catch up to the rest of the country in numbers.

Insurance is your insurance primary, school secondary and the USA Wrestling. Plus the cost of each tournament, transportation and coaches fees at some tournaments. This is one reason we have issues with our budget.

I agree my brats no longer wrestle but I love it and Im still here besides Jerry would shoot me if I tried to leave. LOL

Everyone on here knows how bashful I am so be easy on me. The questions and counterpoints are all valid,I know we have been told directly for our athletic department we are covered under the school policy. There are pros and cons to affiliation with USA Wrestling. We as coaches need to voice these at meetings. We can discuss all these issues till we lose feeling in our hands but if that's all we do we are doing our sport and our kids a great disservice. If you are a coach make it a point to attend the meetings, if you are a parent push your coaches to attend the meetings. We are supposed to be the elders and leaders lets show our youth that we actually care about them and their future.I am one of the !st to moan and complain if i disagree with something, but if I didn't make a particular then I keep my trap shut. (WHICH IS NOT EASY) I disagree with the new rule about qualification for stae at middle school eliminating a kid from youth, but i was not at the meeting to voice my opinion so i deal and just say it is what it is. Lets stop moaning and groaning, we can discuss as adults then attend the coaches meetings and make a difference.

Usa wrestling cards are not needed as insurance for the schools who already have insurance. They are however needed to participate in any KFWC sanctioned events as we fall under USA wrestling.

Lower weights Moore Upper weights tough several candidate I am hopeful one of or 3 big guys will walk away with it as well as state champion. Long, Green and Stevenson are serious contenders.

Interesting statement. MOW is about individual accomplishments, I have seen kids from #1 seed all the way down to a #10 seed who took 2nd place in overtime earn it. This sounds like either a kid who feels cheated or a parent upset his kid didn't get an MOW.

Plain and simple what Ryle did is perfectly legal, like it or not. They came to our duel we bumped our 190 to wrestle their heavy to make sure he got to wrestle the bumped a 92 up to 105 so my guy could wrestle. We all are supposed to have the best interest of our kids and teams as primary concern. It had been said before and will be said I like coach Raney but his actions should not go under the rug. Our kids are number 1 period. That being said I informed Tyler I would like my name on the Ballot for Youth Vp this weekend. We need to get back to basics and focus on them not us.

Ranger, I looked into it after I first read this thread. KHSSA does call for further penalties, however i was unable to find anything in NFHS or USA wrestling rules that call for anything more than that particular day. If you know where to find it please tell me so I can have it for future reference.

I am of a different opinion,if a coach bumps or drops a wrestler that is his decision. Regardless of his reasons it has been and always will be permitted. On the other hand you have a coach that lost his cool on the mat and verbally assaulted another coach out loud for everyone to hear, unsportsmanlike. Had that been a parent i hope the same consequences would have been levied.We have to remember we are there for the kids, we are supposed to be not just role models but good role models. The fact that the coach in question is a member of the board only compounds the issue, board members are also held to a higher standard than coaches as they should be.I know Coach Raney and personally I like him he has been a good coach and board member, however that does not excuse his actions last Saturday. He was ejected, took his punishment and that is that further punishment is not warranted by our by-laws, USA Wrestling or NFHS. His standing on the board is yet to be determined as both Youth VP positions are up for election this weekend. I suggest if this incident has swayed anyone opinion on that then they should vote accordingly. That being said i do not personally attack other coaches or board members publicly neither do I condone it. There is a Coach at Scott County who every time we face each other he gets my goat and he enjoys the hell out of it, we bicker back and forth. When the match or tournament are over we laugh and move on, neither one of us has ever tried to publicly humiliate one another or a wrestler. Sometimes adults forget we are here for the KIDS not ourselves, they are our future and if we don't set the standard then in 20 years were will Kentucky wrestling be?
