I'll start by saying I don't know what the solution should look like, but we really need to start seeding this tournament. Maybe get coaches together and brainstorm the best way to go about it. Sheffer vs Johnson in the quarters? Crazy!! Castellano vs Ervin (combined record of 88-2) in the semis? We know those records aren't padded, either. Here are some potential blood round match ups: Insko vs Yost. Bacon vs Bates. Dodd vs Yenter. Tylan Tucker vs Payne Carr. Dallas Miles vs Smallwood. Some great wrestlers aren't going to place while some good kids will place due to unbelievable draws. I'm not saying there won't be some crazy upsets from time to time (that's what makes state intriguing and entertaining), but some of these brackets are ridiculous.

Is it possible to get funding for Fargo if kids went to the qualifier in Atlanta rather than Kalamazoo? -

kind of surprised to not see Tucker Shelton ranked at heavyweight. He won Region 2 with a pin over Owensboro. -
Anyone have any info on injuries, ineligibility issues, etc that may have some bracket changes? I've only heard rumors of Landin Jones' arm injury (?) and Zachariah Jones' neck injury. Just curious if anyone can confirm any others that could bring extra drama to this week.

Mathematically, sure, give them points for byes and forfeits at tournaments and duals. But, I've never been a fan of using forfeits and byes as part of the actual record. Records should reflect actual matches wrestled, imo. Otherwise, you'll have major discrepancies when seeding a tournament that goes by record. We've experienced that a lot this year and brackets get "busted" quickly. Just my Canadian $0.02.

How would the brackets change if a kid is unable to wrestle? Would the alternate take the "4 seed" spot and everyone move up a "seed"?
-
Just wondering if there is going to be any last minute bracket changes due to injury, etc.? This year has been packed with drama, so I'm just wondering if it will continue haha

We have the state tournament to find out who the best individuals are from each region. Why not have a dual tournament? Top 2 individuals from each region qualify for "all region" team and have an 8 team dual tournament?

Good luck ranking 120, now. It's madness. State will be fun to watch. -
At 138, North Hardin kid tech'd or majored Bardstown kid last week. Trevon Wright (John Hardin) is now at 220, not HWT. Central Hardin's 195 got pinned by Taylor County 195 as recently as Monday (1/16/17). At 126, Grimsley has beat a few ranked kids this year at 132, 126, and 120 and had a 5 point match against Deck from Madison Central. Haven't seen Meade County kid wrestle. Any info on who the kids ranked 1 and 2 at 126 have beaten this year? Just trying to help update info from what I know. All that said, rankings really don't matter and I'm not one to really care about them. If you believe you're the best, you should beat the best, in any order they come. The 120s will be a lot of fun to watch.

I never said anything about starvation, skipping meals, dehydrating, wearing plastics, or running until you pass out. If you have a proper diet, eat clean, and workout smart, you can lose the weight without adversely affecting your health. Parents need to be involved and coaches do as well, but if someone loses a wrestle-off and still want to wrestle, there are only a couple of solutions. There's a kid who I thought would be at least 132 this year and now he's at 120, healthy, hydrated, and energetic (and wrestling great, btw). Education on diet is imperative. A lot of people have given "weight cutting" a bad name because they did so in ignorant ways. So, I'll say the same advice my dad gave me when I was young, "don't be an idiot". ;-) -

When a kid weighs 210 and their certification says they can make 182, yet they don't even want to make 195, I don't think that's too much for a coach to ask a wrestler to do (make 195, for example). Cutting weight isn't fun, and probably the least liked aspect of wrestling, but it requires strict discipline and diet. It's not impossible. It's just uncomfortable. I mean, aren't weight certifications there to tell you what weight you can make while maintaining your health? I don't know what all is going on in Meade County, but this is just from my personal experience. -

I don't know how anyone can rank 120 and 126. For example, in 126, #17 beats #12, then #17 loses to #25 (who also got beat by #20). 120 is a ridiculous weight this year as well. I think everyone who is ranked, should be ranked. But, don't get hung up on the order of the rankings. They all seem to be beating each other. The state tournament will be fun to watch in these 2 weight classes in particular.
