Couldn’t agree more Coach B. I’ve always thought that if we HAVE TO split classes, and a small school wins overall, the coach’s association award should go to the big school, and if a big school wins overall, the coach’s association award should go to the small school. Seems pretty logical and the award shouldn’t need a name change if it’s something like, Coach’s Association School Class State Championship. To be honest, I believe I neither. People who will argue this will be people who truly believe we need 2 classes. I am not one of those fans. Nominations are due for new officers. I will absolutely back someone who will put an end to this 2 class madness and get us back to competing for one championship. From the beginning, I have felt that we are too small to have 2 classes. I think we are too small to have a 32 man state tournament. Some regions, a guy gets to State by weighing in, in other regions there are quality guys left out. That’s crap. You should earn your way to the big show. Districts, Regions and State. That’s the way it should be done. Do away with this dreadful 32 man bracket and 2 State dual titles. Quit giving away participation trophies at the high school level. Let these young MEN GROW UP!

Both equal the same thing. Terribly anticlimactic. I am a huge fan of all things wrestling, and I would not stick around to watch this silliness. You win or you lose...period. You get what you earn. A silver medal isn’t earned by a 2nd chance. At the end of the day, no one strives for 2nd place. Everyone wants to win. Nobody “wins” second place.

Tournament Costs - Needs Improvement
Nike Man replied to father_of_four's topic in High School Wrestling
I went and watched Iowa wrestle Purdue last weekend. $5 per ticket. Just sayin’. Father of Four is right. We need to work together to keep this sport affordable for all. -
106 and 182

Madison Central hasn’t been at full strength all season. Just can’t seem to get everyone healthy and on the mat at the same time. Hopefully we have everyone back for the post season.
-
They don’t have any holes. Solid up and down the line up. Jacob Cain is gonna cause problems for a lot of guys. I think he finishes top 4 at State.
-
I hear ya. Can’t believe a point made that strong was “muted.” Ridiculous. lol. Ooops.
-
Pretty official. Scores are a mute point. Johnson Central kicked the piss out of everyone.

Just so everyone knows....Johnson Central is pretty damn good. I hate losing, but they have a good bunch of kids and great Coaching staff. Congrats on their win today. They should do very well next week and the weeks to come. -
I’d also like to talk to the ref that admitted that blocking and stalling wasn’t called in time. Lol. Just saying, have you ever seen Kinley wrestle? Lol. The kid is a goer. Once again, he and Fugi was a great match. I’m sure they will do it again.
-
Not sure you were watching the same match Tdogs Pap. Great match by both guys. Can’t say I really saw either stalling. Both wrestling for position. Kinley definitely looked like the aggressor sin OT. They are 1-1 this year. I’m sure we will see them battle again. Fuji is an outstanding competitor. I’m glad he is here helping to push our sport and athletes.

I truly meant “calling out” in a respectful manner. I didn’t mean to sound like UC’s coaches or kids were being disrespectful. If it came across that way, I apologize. Just used the term in the general since. Moving on, as a spectator, I get it. You want to see who is really the overall #1. And we achieved this for many years before this whole big school/small school divide. People like to attribute the growing numbers in our sport to things like the big school/small school split, they like to believe it is because we made the KHSAA boat loads of money by having a 32 man state tournament. Truth of the matter, we got lucky and just happened to make those changes as the UFC and MMA were becoming extremely popular. I believe our growth would have happened without making 2 divisions and watering down our state tournament. We weren’t and aren’t big enough to keep this up. If a school doesn’t have but 7-8 kids, train up those kids the best you can and go for individual titles, your clearly not a dual team. Why make a separate division so people can feel good about themselves? It was ridiculous years ago and it’s ridiculous now. The real world doesn’t operate this way and neither should we. Oh, I can’t promote to a higher position, let’s force the boss to create a new position just for me. It’s just nonsense. Wow. I got a bit off topic, but it’s still relevant to the conversation. Jumping off the soapbox now. Lol
-
So if I may, let me stir the pot a bit. Let’s just say Union Co was a large school and had the exact same success that they’ve earned as small school. What would the perception be if they were calling out the small school champ? It would look ridiculous right? If the 2 winning teams want to meet up on a Wednesday night after the State Duals, that’s great. This allows both teams and their fans to enjoy winning their respective state dual championship. It would also sell a bunch of tickets and both teams could hype it up and share the ticket sales, if they wanted to. Just a thought..

I have a sneaking suspicion that Jalen Wideman isn’t posting any of this crap. Probably a goofball looking for attention because his name isn’t on the rankings either. I know the coaches at FC wouldn’t put up with any kid running their mouth on here. -
Congrats to Spencer Moore for moving up 2 more spots to #3 in the country. Awesome.

This is all I could find. Pretty wide open and up to interpretation. Nothing specific about minimum weigh ins or matches. It does however state that wrestler is considered a member of the team the first time they practice with that particular school or club. Not sure if any of this helps. Hope the kid gets to wrestle.

That’s correct, Bryce Moberly

A couple of teams still missing some hammers. Trinity and Larue look really tough though.

Madison Central took 3rd. The revised scores came out later Saturday evening.
