  1.   When the Covid Semi-State and the really State went on yes there was seeding. But you seen at Regionals and Semis once a kid made the next tourney some would foriet out so it wouldnt hurt seeding at the next round. Trackwrestling doesnt get seeding correct all the time. So I am sure there would be more complaints about which 1 should be the 1 at state and who should be 8th of course some are without a doubt, so then the argue would happen over 4-6 or whatever. But coaches will fight about it for sure.  If you dont seed you have no need for a seeding meetings or complaints other than the same one why didnt we seed either all or #1s. Maybe easier to deal with one big complaint rather than hundreds of different complaints over 14 weights. Just a thought we have all ran into poor seeding in the past and will again.

Good questions.  They are all related.  And I likely need to re-evaluate all of them this next week.  Roberts would have dropped out too with all of the movement, but he held on with the McLamb win.  But McLamb may be too high at this point with his best win maybe being McClellan.  Once you get outside the top 15-20 it gets really really messy.

Ranger first thanks for all you do. As for McLamb you can drop him he hasnt wrestled since the Roberts match as he was hurt during it and will not be able to return it looks like for the year.

  3. First I want to say thank you to all that came and wrestled in our tourney this past Saturday. Our final number was 127 young ladies who wrestled a very tough tourney. Congrats to the medalist and the Champions on a very well deserved accomplishment. As I said it was tough with some of the best girls in the state in attendance. I would like everyone to take a minute and say a prayer for the two young ladies who were taken out during the day. One from J. Hardin with a broke leg and another from Caldwell Co with a broken back and to the others with shoulder, head or other injuries on the day you are in my prayers and I am sure many more. Again thanks for coming and to all my help for a great day of wrestling.

I'm not sure this is a good thing during the season.  We as a wrestling community have been trying to reduce the time spent at events.  Now that that there is a 6 match rule, tournaments have the ability to be larger and in increase the time at those tournaments.  16 man tournaments will probably be more popular now that the 6 man rule is now allowed.

I do not disagree with you on the long days. We do very few individual tourneys just because of this reason. In saying that I do one or two each year just so when the kids get to post season its not something totally new to them. In saying that I think its hard on kids to do 6 matches in a day in post season when they have never done it before and everything is on the line. As for duals I can have 6 dual matches in with the new 30min wait and be done by 4 or 4:30 at the latest. I know with 5 we are usually done at 2 or 3 and the kids will be used to wrestling 6. So that I am for if we could have 6 in post season.

  6. Confirmed Boys: Wayne Co, Western, Owensboro Catholic, Owensboro, Montgomery Co, Trigg Co & Daviess Co

Confirmed Girls: Union Co, Apollo, Western, Boyle, Ohio Co, Owensboro, Montgomery Co, Trigg Co & Daviess Co

Have plenty of others for girls have said should be ok with the date so I will update soon. Have enough for 6 duals each already would like 2 more teams so we can have 9. So holler if you want in soon so you can reserve a spot its filling fast.

I have a lot of kids at the wrong weights...

It's all good.  I'm going to work on being more patient with folks this year.  Ask myself what would Jesus do?  And listen to my wife who sings to me "Let it go".  Ha Ha.

Good advice hope it works for you but meanwhile thanks for all you do anyways. Some appreciate all the hard work for the kids you do.

  8. So I was just wondering how many if anyone was looking to take advantage of the new 6 matches a day limit instead of 5. I think this is a great new rule to get kids ready for possible post season limit but I havent seen any yet for the duals in upcoming year. Thoughts

  9. I guess we will see how they do it this year since it looks like that starts 2024-2025. I am hoping we will just wrestle boys Regionals same as always. Do away with semi-state weekend and replace it with girls regionals. Which can be done is same format as boys semi-state. Regions 1-4 and 5-8 top 8 from each move on. Then 32 man boys and 16 girls the next week. But who knows it seems to be all closed lip on subject.

  10. So with girls now sanctioned next season and many of us going to be doing double duty. I was wondering if anyone has made plans to change any of their Dual tourneys to include some Girls individual pools or anything with both teams. Now I just ask because I know many are going to look for more places to travel both teams too so not to have to be separated.

  11. All in all it was great some matches and there was some problems or disagreements of course its ran by humans for humans and none are prefect. As for the Stalling calls or no calls I would just say I don't think it would be as a bad or look as bad a thing if it was called all year. From the mat returns in 5 seconds to getting ran out of bounds they are never called during the year consistently but at state you are hit with them really quick. It wasn't called like that at semi-state either. That was the biggest complaint I heard about the calls is just do it all year.  Is it the rule yes so lets call it all the time.

As for the location and school I think it is an amazing school but just way to many people and uncomfortable seating to host an event for that many hours. By the second day your back is killing ya, butts are hurting and tempers are high.  I heard the people next to us ask really nice for people to sit down by rails (which was announced all day not stand at ) so they could see only to be cussed out by more than one group of people. This is partly due to KHSAA having rules and not enforcing them and not having suitable seating for people to all be able to see or be comfortable while doing so. Its wrestling we are all used to long days but with so much at stake and as long as it is we need some comfort too. I think under the conditions it was ran good and congrats to all the winners and kids that made it that far.

Track wrestling keeps a time of when the last match ended.  It will not allow the next match to start until the 45 minutes has elapsed.  When the whistle blew on his last match the time begins, it may not have seemed like 45 minutes but I would almost guarantee it was. The 45 minutes is from end of last match to beginning of next match.

It was not 45 mins because it was middle school. That is the point it is said middle school can do this why cant high school. Because there is a clock on high school not on middle. It is USA Wrestling only a 15 minute break. Thats what I was talking about guess I didnt explain it good enough sorry.

You can easily run a 32 man bracket with all the bells and whistles and be done in one day. Middle School has proven it for the last 3-4 years. Even in 2020-2021 at the height of Covid protocol. Look it up.

here’s what you need. 10 mats, start at 8:00AM sharp. Run it on track open mat available. NO BREAKS IN COMPETITION UNTIL AND ONLY FOR BREAK DOWN OF MATS AND FACE OFF.

This has been done for several years now at the middle school level. That’s a fact can not be disputed.

I forgot to add in my first post 32 man brackets that are SEEDED

I disagree with this statement. Middle school doesnt follow same rules as High School. There is a strict 45 min between match rule that the high school has to go by that middle school uses none. My kid wrestled a match and by the time he got back to his sit he was already back on the board. His wait between matches wasnt even 25 mins. I do like the 32 but you will need the second day.

  14. Oh I agree the one entrance was the way to go for the the tourney to be smooth it was not a slam in anyway. I had my doubts but it was great. Yes I have AT&T but my other coach and a dad with didnt and they couldnt get and keep signals either. Internet there is horrible for track or we need a huge screen or announcer.

  15. First let me say I think the people who ran Middle School State did a great job. In saying that Corbin is a good Arena but it is far from perfect. If the internet issues could be fixed and food was better then maybe it would be. But with everything running on Track wrestling which is totally on-line and the place having no signal for coaches or others to view what is coming up or brackets ever is a huge problem.  There is only one way to the floor so when a kid finishes his match and in wrestle backs by the time he gets to his sit sometimes within minutes he was called back to the floor for his next match. The updates on the screen are great but with it only in 3 spots and not big enough to see unless you just have someone standing there all day to watch it was hard to keep up sometimes. Maybe if it was announced like the old high school anytime someone is on a mat assignment it would help. Again I think the people running it did a fantastic job using the means they had at there disposal but access to everyone to internet would fix these types of issues.
