I agree with sticking to criteria. In the small school bracket how did a one loss team get the 2 seed when there were 2 other undefeated teams? I do agree they are probably the 2nd best team in small school bracket but criteria says they are not. Someone with 2 losses should have argued for the 1 seed. I’m sure Union wouldn’t care where they are seeded!

Obviously no one can provide a logical answer to this! I don't understand how the rules change when you get to the seed meeting. Whoever cries the loudest usually wins the argument. Maybe the solution would be to eliminate teams who do not have a full roster taking up the top 6 seeds or have a wrestle back for a true 2nd place and a true 4th place.

Region 4 middle school wrestling tournament rescheduled
uk_rebel33 replied to Bluesdad's topic in Youth Wrestling
Great news!!! No more changes allowed! -
Well it didn't seem to be a problem rescheduling on the 30th when there was already other events scheduled for that day. The State Duel has been set on the calendar for months. Region only has 8 kids per bracket. Should go pretty quick. Could reschedule youth for Saturday? I'm sure other Regions will still be on for this Saturday, thus putting the kids/teams in our Region at a disadvantage. I just don't get the "I don't want to drive on Sunday or there is school on Monday excuse" Don't you guys wrestle or play some other sport during the week that causes you to get home a little later than you would like. I get excited about wrestling and have a huge passion for competition. Some of you guys are like the old people who sit in the lower part of Rupp Arena and complain about people standing and cheering. Our sport needs more passion and more folks with energy!

Really? This is an opportunity for kids to compete and the season is almost to a close. A driving inconvenience seems kind of selfish,

Since Region 4 has been pushed back, I think the reasonable thing to do is have the Region 4 tourney on Sunday instead of Saturday. Several kids will be competing at the Middle School State duel tourney, while others will be at the High School State duel tourney. I know a lot of folks don't care about this because they might not have a team competing in either, but I'm sure you would if it were your team or kids. Eagle7071 and Bluesdad.... lets make this happen on Sunday instead of Saturday!

Middle School Rankings 2015/16 - PRESEASON SEPTEMBER 21

Tyler Hudgins will probably wrestle 105lb this year. Brent Hudgins is a freshman this year. Probably should be in high school top 25 at 106lbs. Two time high school state qualifier as a 7th and 8th grader. -
I've said it for years. The split hurts but when your on your back for 5 seconds your pinned. Usually the opponent hurts themselves by trying to get out. But what do I know. Kid got his shoulder dislocated because of a no brainer dangerous move that the same horrible official didn't stop. He should feel worse about this than blowing calls.
-
I guess all wrestling moves are dangerous when your getting pinned.
-
I think the first 1 vs 4 upset will be in the 92lbs class. Although Giannone won Region 4, he has to face Ryle's Caggiano who paced 4th at Region and has been ranked in the top 8 all year. Kid is tough....Bad draw for Giannone.

So I see a lot of schools out today. Will there be a weight allowance given for Saturday? Just asking. Everytime I see a "no there will not be an allowance given" there always is. I think if there is going to be everyone should be aware before showing up Saturday.

No doubt Seibert has been very impressive. I watched him start to make his move around mid January last year. He's been on fire since. Very long kid with lightning quick speed.

This is a different topic, but what I wouldn't pay to see a tourney between the lightweights (80lbs to 98lbs) all combined into one bracket. Those guys can get after it and its possible an 80lber could win it all. Very deep talent in these weight classes. I'm very interested to see how the 92lb and 98lb class plays out. Big fan of Carter and Deck and very deep weight classes.

Thanks Plantmanky1. It kinda makes sense now that I see that post, but the guy has been ranked #1 all year long and has been a state runner up the past 2 years to Tucker from Woodford. I don't see how the process could not make him a #1. I guess the other coach was really convincing. Probably an attorney!
