Chris Phillips to be a Buckeye?

Old news here, but Felipe did not wrestle at the district tournament. It was reported that there was a death in the family.

    All American - Isaac Thomas

Great job Isaac. You dealt with adversity including a few nagging injuries and came out with AA honors! I look forward to watching you during a Junior season that is going to be even better!
  3. Great job by LWC wrestlers. Coach Ruff and his staff did a great job working with these young men this season! Now it is time to begin preparing for next season's championship. It should be interesting to follow the recruiting and see who comes in to replace the few seniors that are leaving, and fill some of the other small gaps in the lineup.
  4. Well 145 and possumdaddy, we will probably see each other sometime during the weekend...we just won't know it! I will have a bit of LWC apparel on though.
  5. Hey, I am an egomaniac father of an ohio transfer...I'll do my best to stir up some crap. Seriously (above comment is serious except for the egomaniac part) Kentucky does have three fine college programs, and I am proud that my son has the opportunity to go to college and continue to wrestle. Don't hesitate to "adopt" some of these transplants into your Kentucky talk. I know they didn't go to high school in the state, but now most of them are fully vested in the state through their college experience. 145 - safe driving to you. We are leaving Wednesday. I can't get my wife to leave at 2:00 am....4:00am departures to Williamsburg and Tennessee were her limit! I look for Thurston (CV) and Stephens (LWC) to have stong showings next weekend. Link to video streaming is here. There is a nominal fee. http://www.naia.org/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=27900&ATCLID=205384192
  6. I would like to think it is good for the sport. Maybe encouraging other girls to give it a shot, but I doubt that is the case. The only bad I can see is a bit of damaged ego, but that will heal. As far as indifferent...in the day of equality, I guess this shouldn't be viewed as anything special. (stretching it on the last one.) Going back to the good. If more girls do give wrestling a shot, it may encourage more college schools to sponsor women's teams. I think that would be good for the sport for a couple reasons. More college opportunities may encourage more girls to give it a shot in HS. (kind of a spiral effect....) Second, it could alleviate some of the Title IV pressure felt by many D1 mens wrestling programs by adding another sport for females.
  7. Nice Article http://www.msnbc.msn...t/#.T0F_4fXZXTo At first I thought she made it to "THE finals match". Regardless, a great accomplishment. Ohio had one girl make it to the tournament and win a match, but never had one place. Is this good, bad, or indifferent for the sport of wrestling? I wish her the best of luck in her dream of wrestling for the USA in the 2016 olympics.

Where can a person find the KY State brackets?
  9. Based on what I watched yesterday, I would have to believe that Campbellsville will do well at the NAIA tournament. Thoughts on wrestlers, teams, key matches, etc... Native KY wrestler Derek Nickle is quite capable of "AA" this year. I am sure that Thurston will be favored at 133 for Campbellsville. I don't follow the bigger guys, but Campbellsville 197 Jamelle Jones looks like a monster on the mat. I am talking about his skills and his size!
  10. I seemed to me that LWC struggled all season with the starters and injuries. Then again, college wrestling is tough and I am sure every team had to battle through injuries. However, thinking through the season, I can not think of a single dual or tournament that LWC didn't have at least three starts on the injury list. NEXT SUBJECT - Which wrestlers and teams for Kentucky's NAIA schools will make some noise at the National Tournament.

  14. Question - an NAIA team can send fourteen wrestlers. Do they all score team points in a tournament or does the team have to "choose" a wrestler in each weight class that counts towards the team score?
  15. Obviously I only focused on the Stieber / Dardanes match that went the Buckeye's way...
