    State Prediction Game 2016

With all due respect to you and your opinion, my son excelled in several sports. While not measuring up to your standards in wrestling he did participate in 3 sports throughout his high school carrier while achieving nearly straight A's in his course work. (He had three B's in his 12 years of school). He has been a two time discus state champion and runner up another reason year and could end up with a third totaled this year. He has one shot put title with a runner up and a forth place another year. He was an All American football player with a five star rating his senior year. This earned him a completely paid for 4 year scholarship to a Division one school. He was offered by nearly every SEC school and several Big 10 schools and could have gone where ever he chose. He was ranking, in rivals final ranking, third in the nation at offensive tackle in the 2016 class and number 15 in the nation overall in this class. He was president off the FFA chapter this year as well as active in our local Church. He strives to do the best at whatever he takes in but he has to spread out his time in many interest. He achieved all of this not doing any of these sports full time. If this is a failure to you, I think your idea of success is somewhat flawed. I suspect he could have had the success you mentioned had he focused on just one sport or activity. However, he chose to enjoy several and has has a fair level of success with all of his ebdevors. Even more, he is widely accepted and loved where ever he goes. I also know his heart belongs to our Lord and savior. This last point is the point that makes me most proud. Maybe he did not live up to the billing but I can tell you as his fathe, I could not be more proud of my son than I am right now! I expect him to only get better as he matures and grows into a man.

This is the same reply I received. It sounds like they are trying to make sure no athletes are left out. Somewhat like the little league teams who give participation trophies to all participants. What will be next, not keeping score and awarding medals to all participants in the state tournament??? I never made it to the finals match when I wrestled. However, I was in awe of the folks that did. They did something I could not and they have my respect!! There is only room for two in the final match and those two deserve some respect and notariety for making it this far! Keep on sending he emails and letters! Call everyone you know and lets put some pressure on the KHSAA to do this right!

My son wrestles in the heavyweight class as did I when I was in high school. I know many folks leave before his matches in large touraments when he is in the finals. I don't necessarily like this but I understand people have distance to travel and want to get home. I personally like the idea of the random draw like most duals have. This way it might be the 106 weight class that wrestles last. Another idea that has been thrown around in this thread and others is to wait till after the last match to hand out awards.

Apparently Mr. Barren and the others forget that Ky taxpayers pay their salary!!!!!!!!!!! They work for us instead of the opposite. I think it is time that they understand this is the order!!!!!!!!!!! We need to find a way to communicate with them that we are not happy about this and they have to be accountable for their decisions, especially decisions that set our sport back. No responding to emails is an insult!!

Thank all of you for your emails and messages. We need to continue this. I have alerted several sports media personalities about this. Please contact anyone you know in the media and get this story out. Hopefully at least one will run this story and get some public spotlight on this travesty that the KHSAA has proposed. Hopefully our wrestlers will get the honor they deserve from working so hard!! Great emails Tapout and B10grapple! Keep spreading the word!

Bluesdad Mike was the only one I could find that primary charge is wrestling. None of the other assistant commissioners or the commissioner himself had this listed as a primary sport under their supervision. Therefore, I assumed he was the logical first step.

I just sent an email to Mike Barron, the assistant Commissioner in charge of wrestling. I encourage everyone to send him an email or call his office to express your dislike of this new schedule. His email address is mbarren@khsaa.org . The office phone number is 859-299-5472. Please make your voice heard on more than just this thread. Email and/or call the KHSAA as soon as possible to voice your opinion on this!

Need a place to Wrestle Dec.21

I am Randall Young, one of the boosters from Lafayette High School wrestling. We have an opening at our Five Star tournament at Lafayette for December 21st. Would you like to be added? The entry fee is $190 and we should have 22 -24 teams. Please let me know soon.
  11. Young has pinned Raynel Brown in the second period at the Ryle Tournament. He has also won in a 3-0 deciscion against Lawson in the finals of the Ft. Knox Invitational. Thank you guys for all you do. I know that this had to be a large job and took a lot of hours. It would be impossible to know all that has happened this year. Good job by all!!
