Graeters Ice Cream HQ is located across from NKY/Ryle and UDF is right down the road. Duke drives by Graeters Daily to work and picks up Superman everyday!! Ohh and we bought the sprinkle factory!

That’s about as good as it gets lol.

Johnson Central may be a title threat next year

JC will have 8-10 kids place next year with 4 of them having a real shot to win a state championship. Pierce, Horn, Horn, and Jackson. Should be a great season for JC next year.

Agreed. Union is the best right now. Closing the gap on team championships. I will say that there seems to be a team in Woodford Co that has gotten under estimated the past few years, but we keep finding a way to the top 2,3,4. I see a championship coming back to Versailles pretty soon! Keep grinding boys! Well done Union, you guys are a class act.

I wasn’t trying to take anything away from any other program in the state. If it seems that way I apologize coach. Woodford is the all time best program in the state with Union the best right now. Any kid would be lucky to wrestle for either program. There’s a lot of great programs in the state. Johnson Central here out east. Woodford, St. X, in central Ky and Union our west. There are many other great programs but these seem to be the ones in the fore front right now.

I'll second that point.  My kid was ready to move on from wrestling after high school, until we started talking to some college coaches who once they found out his grades and ACT scores, were suddenly all over him.  And despite having just a solid high school resume, he ended up with several opportunities, and will now be wrestling at the next level.  People would be surprised at the number of next level opportunities  available to good wrestlers with great grades.  And if you're a great wrestler with great grades, you'll have plenty of open doors.

Exactly why we preach to Blue grades are the most important thing to his future. Regardless if he can wrestle or play any sport for that matter at all if he has good grades doors will always be open. If his grades aren’t where they should be he doesn’t particiapate in any after school function. Thankfully he understands this and we’ve never had to step in and not let him compete. He concentrates in school and keeps his grades where they should be and we’re very thankful for that. He’s an alright kid I guess lol.

Yeah that was a great win... Good job kid.

Fletcher had a great year tho..  Never lost until then.. That's the beauty of wrestling,  anything can happen.

Blue Represented KY great all year.. He beat all of the out of state competition all year... He was fun to watch..

Without a doubt he will have great success in high school.

Which ever program gets him will be lucky to have him.

    Your my boy Blue...

    #GreatKid #GreatFamily.

Thanks buddy Blue appreciates that. Blue meet every challenge this year from all challengers in and out of state even the eventually 140lb state champion except that one. You know that’s what is great about wrestling. You can be beating the brakes off a kid then all it takes is one mistake and your perfect season is over. But props to Koepp and all the MS state champions this year.

  6. When did the rule go into affect that you had to be in 4th grade to compete in middle school? My son “Blue” competed in middle school since he was in the 2nd grade. Maybe Dalton was grandfathered in. Why does everyone always look to the conspiracy theories?

    70- Vega over Gardner 6-3

75- Tucker over Raney 5-3 overtime takedown at the edge

    80-Sander over Spaulding 6-4

86-Moore over Begley 12-4, puts his dad on his shoulders and carries him off, takes over coaching the rest of the finals

92-Thomas over Giompalo 8-4, thinks about putting his dad on his shoulders and realizes that’s a bad idea, gets a bear hug and a smack on the “Rump”

105- Thorton over Walls 8-7, Spencer gets his first coaching State Champ

    113- Roberts over Andreoni 8-3

    121-Goss over Messerly 8-5

130- Fletcher over Phillips Pin in 2nd period, walks off of mat to grab a Woodford County hat and announces where he’s going to wrestle for high school.

    140-Hatchett over Wittry 6-5.

    152-Little over Freeman 8-4.

168- Giannone over Bikakis 10-5, walks off mat and blasts a double on Joe-Joe. Realizes that was a bad idea as well.

190- Long over Rodriguez in an overtime thriller. Holmes celebrates with a dance off on the side of the mat.

240-Wayne over Stevenson pin in 3rd period off a nasty over/under hip throw on the edge of the circle, Jason arguing that he was on his toes and not his knees.

Hoping these predictions make some people smile and laugh. Truthfully we have some amazing talent and we’re growing each year. These kids deserve and earn everything they get and as coaches we should sit back and look at what we’re accomplishing as a group and continue to keep leading our young men and women in the correct ways. Good luck to all!!!

They for sure made me laugh out loud lol.

Wow. Ok way different than the story I got.

So now what?  Does he wrestle?

As far as I know, no he does not. He wasn’t on the podium at regionals. A kid from Montgomery Co I believe was awarded 4th place.

  10. 3 minutes ago, Braves coach said:

What I understand he was dq'd for punching. So he did not place/ qualify for state.  I may not have gotten the real story.

Dq’d for throwing elbows from top position to the back of the kids neck. They were in the 3rd/4th place match.

Two different events.  Just hope we don’t see double standards.  If we are going to punish a 14 year old for making a bad decision in a regional placement match a parent shouldn’t get a pass.

Agreed, couldn’t have said it any better myself.

There will be strategy at State Duals.  That is a fact.  We will put our best kids on the mat to give us the best chance of winning.  What we will not do in that process is affect their seed for the State Tournament.  Our team will not show up just to say we went!  We are in it to win it.  State Duals are fun, but the bigger picture is winning the overall title the following week.   All wrestlers are not created equal!!!  Some kids need our help to get them in the best position to win.

I do understand what your saying but here’s what I say...let em wrestle.

Not to be contrary but, aside from Spencer Moore, I can't think of a current middle school wrestler in the state that is consistently winning or placing high at national tournaments or that has wins against other top middle school wrestlers in the nation. If there are some please make us aware of them. We must not keep them a secret.  It's important that we recognize them.

I love to read your smart replies it makes my day lol.

Here’s where my comment came from. He beat Chris Begley earlier this season 15-0 at John Hardin. At the Brawl last season the score was 12-7 hence the catching up. Spencer is a stud and the best middle school kid in Ky without a doubt. Kids are putting in work and catching up. That’s just a fact.

Your comments make it seem as tho I was trying to discredit Spencer which is far from the truth.
