It is a frustrating situation with the non-seeding of our Ky State tournament. All of the ideas from the posts above would solve the issue. I don't see that happening in KY, it is sad but true. Ultimately there is a FINALS match at every state tourney in the quarters or semis. What weight will it be this year? Somebody's boy who worked their can off all year long may be third, period. SEED THIS THING

I agree Firemans, it was a good idea at the wrong time. Those bleachers were nearly full at 6pm. When the spectators started getting word of the college dual match it started to get thin. Not to mention the poor finalists waiting that long to get going and go home. WV team and parents were going to have a long drive home. Questionable judgement on the tournament director. Or whoever he is.

Depending on which high school they were planning on wrestling varsity and in particular what county let him participate is the question. If in Jefferson county then why not wrestle and win a middle school state championship first?

My son was a semi finalist vs. Brock (2013)

Great job Willie, we have seen you wrestle for years and you are an inspiration to all of us.

My pre season rankings for 170's and 182's

You have way too many Y's and not enough O's -
I started my kid at Ballard Bruins Wrestling Club that two former college wrestlers headed up. These brothers are not on this forum to see this crap. Ballard High School dumped the wrestling program the same year we started wrestling in KY. Let's just imagine if they had a team right now. I saw potential in that room eight years ago. We went to River City and my son learned the sport . So much for public school wrestling on the East Side of jefferson county. I attended a Catholic high School in Northeast Ohio, I get it. Let's stop this nonsense.

Good point, this would take care of it all. Wrestlers won't be over weight for the whole event.

Eliminating Middle School Wrestlers from High School teams
stedlkd replied to bigedcoach's topic in 2012 Season
WOW! Take a state that has been working its tail off to promote a sport and has been doing a great job, then take away this youth option. Good luck bigedcoach. -
Middle School state is at Montgomery arena. Feb 4th

Hi Darin, welcome to Kentucky Wrestling. Obviously your background in the sport makes this reply fairly simple. Kentucky as a state has been improving its youth wrestling programs for at least the last eight years. I cannot say anything prior to these years as I was not involved in Ky wrestling before that. However since I started my boy wrestling when he was in 1st grade I have witnessed a major PUSH in the right direction with our programs, all of them. There are several private youth clubs and public school teams available throughout the Louisville area. The end result has been positive at the High School level, which ultimately leads to collegiate opportunities. I hope you feel free to ask any further questions to our KY wrestling community.
